WATER PUMPING > Air Pumping

I’m familiar with Bathmate pumping, I’ve been using one since spring 2015. I usually build up the suction slowly over 20 minutes and more often than not, end up with edema in my foreskin, it can disappear quickly or last less than 24 hours in extreme cases.

Water pumping using a vacuum pump is a bit different since you can pump beyond the Bathmate’s maximum vacuum, this is what I’m concerned about. Like capernicus1, I’ve had my fair share of injuries so am doing my best to avoid any more. I’ll have to give condom pumping a go too.

Weird. Maybe I’m just more careful then, as I’ve never had any issue with the foreskin at all. But then again I really, really try to stay safe as the thing has no gauge so I’m not risking the best part of my body :)

From what I have learnt here, best results from pumping come from lower vacuum pressures, can that still cause blisters?

From my experience increasing the session time and increasing the max vacuum both increase the chance of blisters Also as I said earlier aI found I was more prone to blisters with water pumping. I also got blisters from using a vacextender where the only difference is high tension is the paralell to high vacuum with pumping.

The good news is since I have used the baby powder / condom (anchored with a silicone sleeve) I have not had a single blister and I pump for 60 min and sometimes a bit more dynamically in the range 3 - 12” Hg using a mR Fantastic water pump.

Also blisters are not the end of the world. If you get one just let it heal naturally. The worst thing is no sex for a week or two depending on how extensive it is. I am uncut which makes it easier to protect it during the healing stage though.

My water trap arrived from Thickwall cylinders today but I found that I needed some extra tubing so once I’d purchased some (5m x 6mm diameter) I cut it to length and did a hydro pumping session with my vacuum pump.

After a 5 minute warm up in my hot bath, I worked up a nice boner and put it inside the tube and started pumping only to realise that I’d fitted the water trap the wrong way round, once I’d corrected that, my boner had subsided to a semi so I fitted it and inflated it with vacuum. I discovered that there isn’t enough capacity in the water trap to accept the water displaced by my expanded penis. I had to empty it and pumped for 10 minutes before removing it.

I worked up another boner and started pumping a second time, this time there was enough space left in the water trap, I pumped for another 10 minutes, removed and repeated for another 10 minutes, 30 minutes in total under vacuum.

So the session was a lot more comfortable than using my Bathmate however I was pumping from 5-6 Hg/in on the gauge, which seemed high to me however I must be pulling double that with the Bathmate, judging by the intensity of the stretch.

There was no edema or blood spotting and I didn’t get the usual plump flaccid at the end of the session.

So I’m not sure what to do next, continue with my short intense Bathmate sessions, try pumping at higher vacuum with my Thickwall hydropump to get the same intensity as with the Bathmate, or do hour long sessions at low vacuum (4-5 Hg/in minimum) and not expect any temporary gains.

The size of the water trap can be a problem.
It’s easy enough to disconnect the hose from the cylinder using the qwik connect and empty the trap but when you re-connect it you let air into the cylinder.
The better option is to buy a hose clip and fit it at the cylinder end of the hose.

When the trap is nearly full clip the hose shut then you can empty the trap, pump back to pressure then open the clip, no air bubbles.

As far as sessions try about 45mins at 3-4hg and see if you don’t get some temp size from that.

Can I use an air pump with water?

I have been using the Penomet for about two weeks now, and after about eight days of exciting progress getting great suction and enhanced girth that lasts over night!, I am disappointed to find the device no longer working properly. The suction is going down way too soon. I hear a hissing sound and see bubble racing from the release valve to the base or the gaiter attached to my body. Very disappointing. I have contacted customer support and they have suggested a fix that did not work. Is this just a product made from cheap materials?

I also must say that though I think the results from water pumping were superior to air pumping, I can’t stand having to do it in the shower. Unless the suction is really strong, it comes off too often making cleaning in the shower a huge distraction that reduces the erection and thus the suction. If they can not provide a fix. I will return it and probably go to air pumping, which I did years ago, but never long enough to notice long term gains.

I believe that hanging weights years ago, and regular practice of pulling my cock under me as I meditate has given me about an extra half inch.

I apologise for reviving an old thread but I just overcame the laziness of managing water and heat pack and started water pumping and have been convinced. I’m not getting doughnuts from Edema in water and I’m packing the tube faster and fuller.

Maybe mentally focusing on managing water distracts from maintaining erection, but after 30 mins when I relieved vacuum, I became flaccid and the size obviously decreased. However the flaccid size was great and without Edema.

I use silicone caps to keep pressure on glans because I have burst blood vessels at the meatus several times air pumping. And I still don’t feel safe without silicone caps because I’m trying to manage the water level and heat pack to keep submerged.

Once I’m inside the cylinder with water, some water spills into the tube, which is collected in the trap to decrease the chance of water getting into the pump. Therefore the glans are not fully submerged in water but have silicone caps on to prevent Edema when the glans are above the water line. I keep losing water because sometimes the cylinder tilts and pours water into the tube line if I’m not lying prone.

How important is keeping air out of the water filled cylinder with respect to keeping the whole penis completely submerged?

Also, my hands rapidly pump because I constantly lose vacuum. There is definitely a leak somewhere, probably the quick release valve or the seal in the pump itself. Does everyone have to put up with constantly pumping to maintain vacuum, or is the leak in my system causing me to be the only one working out my forearms?

I would buy a long cylinder to have a margin of air at the top. Then all there is to do is to remember how much water is needed so that when the shaft is expanded, there isn’t too little or too much. If you need to move you can simply disconnect the pump first.

Those leaks sound annoying. It can be the base (too large of a cylinder or too hairy), the connector at the top which isn’t tightly screwed or the water trap.

Thanks I found the leak, was the quick release valve. So I disconnected and use the quick release valve on the pump itself. And I could always pry off the connector to release vacuum, and hold it tight to keep vacuum.

I forgot to write down the basic reason I wrote the first paragraph… If the cylinder is long enough, and is pointed somewhat upwards, you can entirely submerge the shaft in water and still have a few cm of air at the top of it. This means you don’t need a water trap. I find this setup more convenient. Then, if you need to move you can disconnect the pump. Btw I didn’t mean this is the way it should be done, it’s just my personal preference.

I own the water trap from Thickwall and it’s not cutting it.


I couldn’t find its size or how much water it would hold. Its function is to capture liquid condensation from an oxygen stream so it may not be very large. Maybe put a couple of them in line? Oxygen tubing is 5-7mm (0.2-0.28 in) so should be ok for the 1/4” tubing you have.
