To buy a Bathmate or not, some advice please

To buy a Bathmate or not, some advice please

Hi everyone,

Have been an on and off pumper for many years and in all honesty only made small gains.
I suppose this was because of two things. (1) Using cheap equipment, and (2) not sticking to a good routine/schedule.
Anyway a few months ago I decided to start pumping again as I now have much free time and decided to buy (once again) a cheap pump.
I know I am a bit of a novice when it come to pumping and jelqing, but I am trying to stick to a schedule where I pump each morning for five days and rest for two.
Finally I get to my dilemma, which is should I splash out and buy a Bathmate X40 or not?
Something which is holding me up is that I have read that the Bathmate is great for girth development, but not so good for length.
In my case I have good girth, well actually probably better than good.
The other day after pumping I measured 6.5” mid-shaft and 7.5” at the base of my penis, length about 7”.
Ideally I want to aim towards a length of about 9”, but not sure if this is realistic!
So do I buy a Bathmate or invest in a conventional good quality air pump and use a 9” x 2.25” cylinder?

Thanks for reading.

What problems is your cheap cylinder causing? Is it badly sized? Leakage?

Have you tried pumping as part of a routine? Vacuum Pumping 101

A good cylinder, properly sized, sits nicely on the base without too much risk of sucking in a ball. When compared to a cheap cylinder (often sold with some kind of seal at the entrance) it’s a different world.

If you’ve gone cheap, I assume you don’t have a gauge. Pumping with a gauge is somewhat easier than without. You minimise risks like fluid buildup through excessive pressure, you can monitor expansion and/or leaks by checking the gauge before you would feel them and you can guarantee consistency.

On the other hand if you’ve not used a gauge, you might find a bathmate usable. Don’t mistake expense for quality though, the manufacturing cost of a bathmate is tiny. There is also more to go wrong with a bathmate.

Check your unpumped size against this Selecting Your Cylinder Size if you go the standard cylinder route.

If that info is too basic, apologies.

Don’t waste your money on the Bathmate. Just buy a cheap cylinder and a hose and use your mouth. Its much more comfortable than the BM, costs much less, has better seal and probably a few hundred times better durability. You can also connect a brake bleeder if you don’t want to use your mouth but it will “brake” sooner or later ;) . Mine lasted 2 weeks, which is why I use my mouth now instead.

Start: 6.3 BPEL x 4.5 MSEG & 4.5 BSEG

Now: 7.7 x 4.7 x 5.5 BSEG

Goal: 8 x 6

Gaskets

Hi memento,

You asked if my cylinder leaks, well it is one of those ones that comes with three different gaskets, small/medium/large that you push over the end.
What I have to do is start with the small one for a short time and then change to the larger ones as my size increases; it’s a real pain.
The actual cylinder is 3” so much too big to be used by itself, unless you have a massive girth.
Also no gauge so you have no idea of pressure, but I never push it to the pain barrier, this is dangerous.
In my younger days I did and had lots of injury, you know blisters etc., so now I am very cautious.

From what I have read so far it would seem that I might be better off just buying a good quality pump + gauge and cylinder.
The only small problem here is that many suppliers will not post to China because of customs problems, but I have found a few suppliers on ebay that will.
Funnily enough BM’s are available here on an on-line supermarket called TaoBao, and they are genuine because I checked with the UK company for the suppliers name on TaoBao.

Anyway thank you for your advice.

Regards

No experience with BM, but I am using the Thickwall cylinders and they are excellent!

Bought a silicone seal with it, which I can put at the base of my cock. So when I start packing my smaller tube I can just pull off the tube, disconnect, reconnect the larger one and plop it on. They also retain warmth fairly well, so I warm them up beforehand with heatpacks.

As a penomet (similar design to the bathmate) user for 13 months, I’d say that the only circumstance that favors this kind of pump over a regular cylinder is actual shower-usage. If you’re not going to use it standing up, a conventional pump will probably serve you better. The main advantage is better control and a wider range of pressure.

I have a Bathmate for almost 3 years now and it is still as brand new! :D

I would recommend BM, but air pumps are easier to use. You can pop it on any time, no need for water.
I like water ones only because they are easier to keep warm, that is at least case for me.

Are Pumping results permanent?

I’ve heard the analogy “its just like working out your muscles at the gym, once you stop you’ll lose your gains but over time you’ll keep some”..

Its this true?

I’m using a proextender but considering getting a Bathmate for this very reason (even temporary gains I think will lead to permanent gains over time - I agree with the analogy), but I know nothing of “air pumps”.would be good to have something that doesn’t use water since I don’t plan on laying in the tub. I’m a shower guy.lol

I am no experienced pumper, but this is my opinion

Hi Sketch 2000,

I am no experienced pumper, but this is my opinion!

As you said gains in the gym are only permanent if you continue to exercise regularly, however if you do stop you never return to your original size.
Many years ago I took up body building fairly seriously and gained a pretty good body from tons of hard work, but then as time and family took over I stopped.
Many years later people still comment on my great biceps, a reminder of my days of pumping iron.

I believe the same is true for your penis.
I was a pumper in my younger days and from this I gained much girth which even after stopping for many years never disappeared.
Recently I have restarted as I now have much more free time and privacy, and I have already regained much firmness and girth along with some length.

Cannot give any advice about the Bathmate as I myself am considering buying one, but from what I have read they sound very effective and less damaging.

Regards

If you decide to go with a Bathmate, I’m looking to sell my X30. It works fine, but I’m moving at the end of the month and will no longer have the degree of privacy needed to use it.

Don’t hesitate to PM me if interested.

I have my X40

Hi,

Well today I received my X40. My first impression as I removed it from the box was, ‘crumbs this is big’.
When I first thought of buying a Bathmate I was going to go for the X30, but some investigation told me that with my girth the X40 was the better choice.
However now I am not so sure. I have tried it out and it is a bit of a fiddle to stop your ball sack getting sucked up into the tube, nonetheless I did finally succeed.
The only real positive thing I can say at the moment is that it does feel rather nice having your cock surrounded by warm water when you are pumping, but as to whether it is better than air pumping this I am not sure.
I will from time to time add comments to this post regarding my thoughts and any progress made with said Bathmate.

Incidentally I cannot see me giving up totally on air pumping.
Actually I was thinking of doing a short session maybe 20 minutes with air before moving to water.

Watch this space.

My personal feeling about the Bathmate

Hi everyone,

Well I have now had my Bathmate X40 for almost a week so I felt it time to reflect on my personal feeling about this product!

Straight off, don’t buy one unless you have the girth of an African bull elephant or John Holmes, whoever is bigger!

I personally have porn star size girth and I really cannot see how you can avoid getting your bull sack pulled into the tube because it is enormous.

My girth is at least 6” flaccid and when erect more than 6.5” mid shaft and about 7” at the base, but I still cannot get the hang of this rather awkward piece of pumping kit!

Personally I get better results with a cheap air pump with gaskets.

I start with the small gasket and pump for about 20 minutes or until my penis is engorged with blood and then move up to the medium gasket for about another 10/15 minutes, finally moving to the large gasket for only about 10 minutes.

After this I can take this large gasket off and just use the cylinder which is a 2.5” one.

After a pumping session my penis head is 6.25”, mid shaft 6.5/6.75” and 7.25” at the base.

Only at this stage can I use the Bathmate just to finish off, a bit like a warm bath for my Johnson after all that pumping, but why bother getting yourself wet!

Any comments would be gratefully accepted.

Regards

Why get a Bathmate X40 if your base girth won’t even fit in it?

You can easily avoid getting the sack pulled up by starting with a warm shower or bath loosening the sack and having it hang much lower, outside where you will place the device around your penis. It also helps to have an erection and putting the bottom part of the cylinder up against the bottom part of your penis making the distance between the device and the sack as great as possible.

Your average porn star

Hi,

You asked: Why did you buy a Bathmate if your base girth didn’t fit?

Now I will ask: Did you read my stats?

And I did look for and receive advice via the official Bathmate website that my girth would be best suited to an X40.

I am no porn star when it comes to length, but my girth is something else.

I further ask: how many average guys would fit a Bathmate?

And yes I have done everything you suggest, makes sense really doesn’t it, I wasn’t born yesterday!

Next silly question!
