The Pump and Clamp

I always alternate pumping and clamping in my workouts, starting with the pump, but I do full sessions of each, i.e., not just a brief pump. I always end with the clamps, keeping them on for as long as possible until the engorgement subsides (generally half an hour). I then hang a light weight (2.5lb) to maintain elongation. Have to use an ankle weight as I, too, cannot get PEWeights on.

I feel that the pumping, while it has its own benefits, also gets the tunica stretched to a level where the clamping can take over. Then, pumping again after clamping builds on the stretching done by the clamping. All speculation, of course. But I remain huge for quite a long time afterwards, which I feel is a good indication.

In your combined cycle of pumping/clamping, what is your approach to wrapping, if any. That is, do you wrap to protect the circ scar when pumping and/or do you wrap at the base when you clamp? And, what wrap material if any do you use?

Thanks for such interesting material.

If that was directed to me, MrT, I wrap at the base when clamping and also, occasionally, when pumping (a sort of combo pump and clamp). I never wrap higher, e.g., at the circ. scar. I didn’t realise it needed to be protected. (Does it??)

My wrap is a very soft neoprene band cut from a medical wrist protector (for carpal tunnel). It’s long and has velcro for the entire length, making it a little more versatile.

I pump at about 5hg, but I still end up expanding about an inch to pack the tube. Should I be trying to avoid that expansion? (i.e. should I reduce the pressure at which I’m pumping so as to avoid the expansion?)

If the expansion is due to the expansion of the corpus cavernosa then theoretically gains made through pumping should be as permanent as those made through clamping.

Im thinking of starting a similar routine this week. When you guys clamp between sets are you using any type of wrap at the base? Im only 5.25” base and about 5” midshaft girth and the other day I tried to put on a cable clamp without a wrap and it just didnt feel tight enough or that it was giving enough squeeze to do anything. Im pretty sure I have the medium size clamps as well.

The best wrap I’ve found for the medium clamp for me has been a sweatband wristband.

I’ve tried some other things and this has been the best so far for me.

I’m about 5 3/4 at the base.

In order to evaluate a pump routine, you must include both time and pressure. I will guess you are pumping for about 30 minutes to achieve what you describe. If so, a lot of your expansion is lymph build up and although impressive, not that beneficial.

For the pump/clamp routine I would hold the pump segment to 10 minutes or less to keep the lymph build up to a minimum and focus more on core expansion.

Hi plustwo,

Thanks for responding - it was a general question not directed at anyone specific but I had hoped folks would chime in that, like yourself, are actively combining pumping with clamping. In my own case when I pump at or below 5 inches of Hg, if I don’t wrap the circ scar with something like a stretch bandage I will get the notorious donut of entrapped lymph behind the glans even if my time in the tube is limited but greater than say 8 -10 minutes. Now many men have a wide tolerance for fluid buildup so where one guy like me needs to wrap the circ scar another man might not. Experience dictates.

In a combined cycle of pumping/clamping, while using the velcro/neoprene material like from a TheraP band at the base to pad the clamp is convenient and effective, having to wrap a circ scar and keep it wrapped for the pumping portion just adds a bit more hasssle into the procedure - that is, unless a person forgoes the circ scar wrap and limits his time in the pumping tube. That said, maybe clamping will prevent the fluid buildup associated with the pumping portion altogether. Since I am new to clamping and considering the obvious benefits of a combined cycle of pumping/clamping, I thought it best to get more wrapping insight.

Again, thanks for sharing your experience.

I just use a piece of soft cloth at the base. It is quick and simple. I am also wrapping up around the circ scar, because I have some thrombosed lymph vessels on the bottom in that area that get really puffed up with lymph. Yes, this does create an extra hassle, but what are you gonna do?

*I measure PRE-WORKOUT, normal erection* Started: 7 EBP x 4.9 EG. Several years on and off PE, now 8.125 EBP length x 5.5 EG midshaft (5.8 base). Working on girth (clamping) again after breaks due to injuries - fast recent gains! Pics

This pump/clamp routine sounds really promising.

I remember reading over at MOS. A member by the name of RedZulu2003 (the Big Girtha of MOS) claimed that what gave him his best, permanent girth gains was doing a combination of pumping and clamping.

After I get used to doing about 20-30 minutes of pumping, I’m going to incorporate clamping into the mix as well.

Would love to hear of some more members experiences of pumping/clamping routines…

Dangleman, I like your idea. A little while back I tried clamping for 10 and then pumping for 10 and doing this for a total of 2 sets (sometimes pump for 15); however, it turned out to be a bit too much for me. I noticed some negative PI signs. I recently started to pump again and am of course hangling much better and stronger erections, but I’ve wanted to add clamping again. I never saw great results with just clamping, but when I did the aforementioned routine I expanded an extra .25” than normal. I’m going to give your routine a try, but starting out very light. Keep us updated on how things go.

Also, do you jelq right after you pump and before you clamp to get out any “old blood”? Or, do you just go straight into the clamp?

Thanks GPR— I have been doing that (to delay the onset of lymph build up). Something I’ve also experienced recently (since maximising my gain-rate (with the use of a graph)) is a thinning of my shaft towards the base rather than a thickening, through hanging. I discontinued my pumping, at around the time I altered my measuring technique, so as to ensure the most accuracy possible in assessing my gains. The overall result is a base actually thinner than the rest of the shaft. If there were any gains made during the relatively short time I pumped they’ve all been negated by hanging.

Anyone using an air clamp during the clamping sets?

footeddie: I go straight from the pump, usually after only about 5 minutes of pumping, into the clamp. I mix heat in before and during … . I get an extra .25 expansion, which HAS to help the clamping deliver results …

Thanks for the response dangleman. I’m going to try something a bit different and use 10 min of pumping followed by about 5 minutes of clamping (since clamping is pretty tough on me).
