Sparkyx, I completely agree with that. Some guys can handle some pretty incredible pumps, but it is very individual. Like if you go on newart, some of the guys there are doing some things with pressure and time that would make people here freak, and they are gaining. For instance, we have insintex here at Thunders, he goes by a different name there (and he is huge by the way - 10x8 with tons of photos to back it), but he is doing insane things. I have read him saying pressures of 15-17 -in hg is LOW pressure for him. He has talked about routinely hitting 30 (although atmospheric is 29.92, so I think his gauge is a bit off) and staying there for extended periods. Anyway, I don’t think his protocol is a good plan for everybody, but it goes to show you how individual our tolerances are, and how pushing the envelope yields results if you are still within the realm of your personal tolerance.

I’m personally a guy that doesn’t do well with high pressure. Not too much edema or skin problems, but pain sets in quickly for me when pumping.

I think your guidelines are basically applicable to all PE. I hang and I want to use a weight and do a number of sets that is going to produce the most possible deformation without causing more trauma than can be healed in 24 hours. The ultimate threshold for efficiency is that line where you are doing just enough work at just high enough an intensity to not be accumulating fatigue in the long term, but a fine line it is. And many times practical considerations get in the way first like free time, privacy, responsibilities and life in general.

I think my newart example holds here as well, 5+ is a decent vacuum for thundersplace, but over there guys go much higher. Often for hours. I forgot to mention in my example, insintex pumps for hours at those pressures of 15+, going through several tubes in the process.

Yeah, I think he is one of the guys I was thinking of. I like my three rules because they are based on your REACTION to the PE, not some arbitrary routine. No arbitrary routine will work for anything but a small percentage of guys and even then that changes with time. It was one of the reasons for my EQ and PI threads, to make it more based on your responses to force and time.

I like the three rules because it gives you the freedom to explore force and time in water pumping in a fairly safe and EFFECTIVE manner, at least I think it does.

Exactly. Guys are always asking, “how many days should I rest?” Or, “what’s the best routine?” Well the simple answer is exactly what you just wrote. What works best for the individual's unique physiology. Follow those rules you wrote, or some approximation, and find out what works best, find out how much can be tolerated, find out how much to rest - that is the beauty of “going by feel.”

I have worked with many athletes, and the philosophy works there too. When you train for a sport, or perform any type of serious physical training, you gain a better understanding of what you body is capable of. And what it is not capable of…yet. I always tell athletes this is the most important thing they will receive from their training, the understanding of their own body. PE is no different when it comes to this aspect. The mechanics and processes? Sure they are different. But doing PE, and slowly/safely testing your limits, finding out what works, trying different things - all those things help us understand our cocks a little bit better.

So the verdict is better results if I fill my tube with warm or hot water before I pump? P.S. I use a hand pump so no electric is involved.

Pretty much, yes. If nothing else, the heat is helpful. The other benefits of water, while always present, will fluctuate depending on how you set up your system.

Ok, I’m going to give an update to wake this thread back up.

I have been water pumping 5 on and 2 off. I have been loosely using the three rules, and still seem to be making slow progress. My skin seems to be conditioning (finally), and I am able to use more vacuum and not violate ( some edema) the three rules. I think the key in the skin getting stronger is by NOT allowing much red dotting at all, it has allowed the capillaries to heal and get stronger.

I am incorporating the stretch-relaxation concept by starting my set (now 4- 10 minute sets) at 5 in hg, and not adding more vacuum as it drops from expansion. What happens is that I get greater length when I pull vacuum to 5 in hg, and as the 10 minutes pass, the vacuum levels drop down to about 2-3 in hg, WHILE THE LENGTH REMAINS CONSTANT.

I find taking a short 60 sec break every 10 mins, helps the skin to return to normal color and helps prevent red spotting. I do this by dropping the vacuum level to zero (remember I am water pumping), WITHOUT letting air into my tube. I then “kink” the tube to prevent outflow of water, and push my dick hard into the tube. This creates POSITIVE pressure in the tube, helping to push all the expanded capillaries closed. You will see the redness or darkness go away or at least get much better.

This allows my skin to get a “break” without having to drain the water and re-do the whole set up.

I believe the “stretch-relaxation” concept is dead on, and allows me to get the greatest expansion with the least stress on my unit. IF I use more vacuum force for longer times, it really doesn’t give much more length and greatly increases the negatives (three rules). So I am pretty pleased so far. There are times I do 2 cycles in each 10 minute set, but I don’t know if that adds more progress, but it does add more edema.

I should actually call them the 4 rules, because I think my last suggestion should become a rule, which is do as frequently, with the most vacuum, and as long as you can and not violate the first three rules. I think that will be a fairly universal method for gain with water pumping.

I wrote something is Titlest’s thread that kind of sums up what I believe is true and effective rules for water pumping;

1) Keep red spots to a minimum. If they aren’t completely cleared by the time you pump again, you will begin to accumulate them, and get in trouble. IF you are getting too much of this, drop vacuum level to where you don’t.

2) Keep edema to a minimum. A little is fine, but if you get too much I believe you are at too high of a vacuum and you reducing the effectiveness of the session.

3) Keep EQ fairly high. Ideally, pumping should be giving you GREAT EQ, at least very good EQ. If your EQ is poor or dropping, probably you need to lower your vacuum levels.

4) After a conditioning period of a couple weeks, I think in general you should pump as frequently as possible, with the most vacuum, and as long as you can and NOT VIOLATE THE FIRST THREE RULES.

Sparkyx, you’ve confirmed a lot of my findings. I too see no loss of length as the vacuum degrades and lower pressure is the result.

I’ve never tried your method of increasing positive pressure. As soon as I’m healed up, I’ll give it a try.

When it’s a marathon session 5-10 minutes works best for me. It takes time to ensure maximum erection whick I feel keeps edema low and post pumping EQ high.

The positive pressure primarily helps close off the capillaries that are expanding (reddening skin) so they don’t start to pop. I don’t recall that being a problem for you at all. Besides, just getting out of the tube will do that quite well, I am just lazy and looking for a way to marathon WITHOUT having to get out of the tube.

Now that’s funny. I don’t think my skin color allows me to see red dots. The benefit of time out of the tube is to edge and ensure maximum erection for the next set. If I’m not erect I listen to my dick and know I’ve finished my routine.
