Selecting Your Cylinder Size

Great thread. The sizing info in the first post is very accurate.

Do not trust manufacturer sizing guidelines, like LAPump. I did first time around and had to buy a new cylinder almost immediately as the cylinder was too narrow.


Starting Stats - 5.5 BPEL x 5.6 EG

Current Stats - 5.7 BPEL x 6.5 EG

Goal - 7 x 6 (with hopefully a large flaccid hang)

Do you think you could use the smaller pump for working on length? I’m finding the “right size” tube was still too big as I was just barely over the circumference of the next size down (why I went with larger tube) and it is taking forever to gain enough girth to pack the tube and do more than girth work with it.

You don’t have to pack the tube to gain length. In fact, if you spend too much time in the tube after packing you risk developing head blisters as all of the vacuum is then focused on just the head.

To gain length in your current tube, try working up to 25 to 30 minutes continuous pumping with no breaks.


The primary goal of PE should be to make your penis as healthy as possible in both form and function. If you do that, increased size will follow.

When do you consider it packing the tube? I think I’m probably close if not already

I was wrong about my size. I just measured correctly. I am 6.5 inches in base girth erect. I am 7 3/8 in. in erect bone pressed length. My current tube is 2.5 inches in the diameter. I want length so according to your cylinder size thing, I need a 2.25 inch cylinder diameter.
With my current 2.5 inch cylinder, it takes me an hour or more to “pack the tube”. I guess every .25 inch difference in diameter of the tube is a big deal.

Tubes really should be sized in increments of 1/4-inch circumference….not diameter. It’s way past time for them to know better for these companies that make these.

I do long sessions with no breaks already and at high pressure, too (9psi-15psi, usually at 5psi and short ramps up to 9psi which seems to be the comfortable top range without prolonged warmup). I’ve had my share of blisters, usually only when I use the heating pad which seems to help the fluid build up faster which I’m not a fan of. They go away but I’d say it’s best to not repeat on that injury as it seems to make the skin at those points less thick and prone to showing as purple when under pressure despite healing fully.

*So the point I’m trying to get to is that pumping in various permutations (low/high pressure, long/short sessions) seems to do little for length. I find I need to pack the tube, ugh, with fluid buildup, and then retain it on higher pressure to get the pull needed for length gains which, as mentioned, risks blisters from fluid buildup under high pressure.

***I’m just wondering if anyone has any experience using a tube smaller than their erect/hard circumference while FLACCID and if this could possibly help for those of us that are in between the smaller and larger circumference tube size, too large when hard for the smaller, and too small unless massively ballooned up with fluid for the larger.

I normally use a 2.0 and 2.2 tube for pumping but I use a 1.75” tube for length workout for about an hour and a half. I pack the 1.75” in 20min then spend the rest of the mins working out on length. Pressures vary from 4-5hg for the most part but towards the end, I use 5-10 hg but only for a several seconds and release and go back at it for 5 min until the set is done. My goal is 8x7.

Excellent, thank you, just what I was looking for.

Just ordered two tubes, 1.75”(9” length) and 2.25”(12 “length) on Amazon from search:”Acrylic Cylinder 2.25 Inch x 12 Inch for Vacuum Pumps : by LeLuv”. Two tubes for the price of a single Lapdist tube (~$71) and I’ve heard good things about Leluv. The 1.75” is solely for stretching and length while the 2.25” right now will be for warming up with warm water pumping since it holds more water and thus retain heat longer than the 2” which has minimal gap atm. Since I have a bit of a baseball bat effect going I pack the tube in the middle of my 2” tube and have a lot of base girth not getting any pressure so it’ll be good for that too.

And now I’ve had to buy another one! Took a break from pumping for quite some time, was just using traction in that time.

Now I’m back to it, but I needed to buy the 0.25 inch bigger cylinder. Guess you do gain some base girth from traction after all.

A question for the experienced pumpers out there. I have been at PE for about 1.5 years and for the last month or so I have been incorporating pumping into the routine. I’m currently at 5.5” girth and have purchased a 2” cylinder which after about 10-15 mins I pack maybe about 1/2” worth at the base. I am wondering if anyone would suggest that I get a 1.75” cylinder and use that until I am able to fully pack it then graduate up to the 2”?

I would suggest a 1.75” cylinder to train your penis for a 2.0” cylinder. I currently use a 2.0 tube in order to get me ready for the 2.2” but I use to use a 1.75” to pack it and then move to a 2.0” Since I have been doing that for some time now, I go straight to the 2.0” as I pack the 1.75 in 15min. So, I go to the 2.0 and after 40min, I pack it and then move to a 2.2, which will take me longer to pack.

I hate to go counter to the previous advice, but I really think you will be wasting money buying a 1.75” cylinder. The experience you describe using your 2.0” tells me that cylinder is the perfect size for you.


The primary goal of PE should be to make your penis as healthy as possible in both form and function. If you do that, increased size will follow.
