pumping danger?

pumping danger?

I’ve often read that “pumping can cause impotence” - but that’s not a very informative statement. My question: is it only improper pumping that poses this danger (too much, too soon, at too high a pressure, etc.), or is there something inherent in pumping itself, regardless of pressure etc., which can affect the penis in this way? Anyone?

Vacuum pumping is often recommended by doctors for the treatment of impotence, as well as recovery from the trauma of some surgeries. If they are cool with sensible pumping, why should we worry?

My only worry is Permanent discolouration due to pumping. So I’ve stayed away from it.

I’ve been pumping for two weeks now, daily (save weekends), and I get no discoloration from any of my sessions. Ever.

I get temporary discoloration, but I do also seem to be experiencing decreased sensitivity. Of course, this could be due to other factors…Was just wondering if anyone else had experienced anything similar, or heard of a any possible biological mechanism that might be responsible.

No, and No.

There you go. Don’t keep asking this same question over and over.

Taped onto the dashboard of a car at a junkyard, I once found the following: "Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement." The car was crashed.

If you keep the vacuum pressure low (3 - 5 HG) and limit your time in the tube, you should have no problem, once you are “conditioned” to pumping.

avocet8,
Thanks, that was helpful. The missing piece of data was “conditioned to pumping.”

Still, I have to believe (and this is why I’ve started another thread on this subject) that someone out there has heard/read some of the same stuff I have (some of it from doctors) about pumping causing impotence or, at least, weak erections. Since I have personally experienced this, I’m curious about the possible mechanism or science behind it.

mgus, thanks for responding, but that wasn’t much help. The reason I keep repeating the question is that I am continuing to hope for a really informed answer. So far I haven’t gotten one. Maybe I’ll just have to corner a urologist somewhere and pick his brain?

I think that you answered your own question. Pumping too much, too soon, or at too high a pressure can result in negative PIs, at the very least.

Since there are MANY of us here who have pumped and had positive results, including IMPROVED erection quality, the answer is no, pumping is NOT inherently an inexorably, inescapably dangerous practice that is damaging regardless of pressure.

Any PE if performed with too high a level of intensity has the potential to cause ED. Overworking any body part can cause some level of temporary disfunction in that body part. It always surprises me that guys are surprised that abusing their penis causes it to disfunction.

Good point, Dr. Pepper. In addition to pumping, you can also jelq, stretch, hang or clamp your unit into negative PIs.

Yep, all noted. But to reiterate: I pumped at low pressure, and followed the routine outlined in Pumping 101. I didn’t overdo it. Now, although I realize that many have gained from pumping, it is also true that others have not, and there has been talk of pumping causing weak erections (for SOME people). My only question was/is: does anyone know of any physiological reasons why pumping (not overpumping, just pumping) may (for some people) cause weak erections? Something to do with lymph maybe? HellifIknow. Apparently this information is not easy to come by, but I’ll post any that I find.

Have you guys gotten any permanent results from pumping at 3-7 level?
