Absolutely, it’s great to see someone who’s not trying to jump into pumping at 6hg for 20 minutes their first set. I personally don’t go above 3.5 hg because I find it counterproductive and think anywhere from 2 to 3.5 is a good pressure for new pumpers and conditioned pumpers. Starting at 5 minutes should defenitely keep you from overdoing it, and will give you plenty of room to work up without getting hurt. It will probably take a few weeks for you to find your optimal routine as far as how many sets at how many minutes.

Well, I tried my new pump out last night. At around 3 to 4 hg, it took about 3 or 4 minutes to touch the edges of the tube up to 2/3 up my shaft. Pumping was a little uncomfortable though. I felt like my guts were kind of being sucked out. I took a break, jelqed a little, and then did another 3 minutes. Once I released the air, I didn’t notice any “pump” that stayed. I am assuming I’d have to be in it for longer for a pump to stay, right?

Also, I keep reading about Lymph build up. (sounds nasty to me) I don’t think I need to experience this. So, what is it, and how do I avoid having it happen to me? I also don’t need any blisters, so please flood me with knowledge and experience here.

Thanks,

AJ

“Bump”

Any comments pumpers? Should this thread be in the pumpers forum?

If you slowly condition yourself - avoiding high HG pressure and long times in the tube - you probably won’t experience a donut/lymph buildup.

Stick to the program in Pumping 101. It is safe for nearly all new to pumping.

Congrats on joining the club. :)

Do you think pumping contributed to your massive length gains? I am at 5.5+ girth, and I purchased a 9x2 cylinder. Do I have to get to 6.28 girth to realise length gains from a 2” cylinder? Or, do they typically come with the pumping territory?

Congratulations on getting started with pumping!

Avocet8 has it right; avoid long duration and high vacuum and you minimize your chance of lymph buildup. I would add that coming out of the tube periodically during your session and jelqing/massaging also helps; at least, it does for me.

Time and repetition is what leads to pumping gains to last longer. Regularity in pumping will lead to longer-lasting gains.

From what I’ve read, no more than 20 minutes for a vet pumper, and no more than 5 to 10 minutes for a new guy like me. I’m not sure it would have been comfortable to go to 5 hg. My pump goes up to 30 hg!! Good god, that would kill a guy like on Austin Powers.

I can go considerably longer than 20 minutes and not get lymph buildup, but then I’ve been doing this for a while.

That said, experience varies on whether there are diminishing returns after 20 minutes.
