My cheap pump experiment

So I’ve been PEing on and off for less than a month right now. More on than off. I just started looking at pumps last week, and I’ve been considering the expense and the gains that some people report.. Well, I’m in college, so I can’t afford to buy even a DIY setup just to see what I think. So I was sitting here, considering how I could try it out for next to nothing, when I spotted a Gatorade bottle on my desk. Well, naturally, I rinsed it out and checked the fit. Tight, but I made it in with some lubrication. So I squeezed the bottle almost flat at one end, inserted, and then squeezed the opposite sides to bring the bottle back to it’s original shape. I realize that this is no 7-10 in/Hg, but I have to say - I like it. I can feel the pump, I can see the same kind of expansion I get from clamping or Horse 440s, if a little less pronounced, but without the same discomfort. This is more of a nice, even pull in every direction. I’ve since lost my erection, but I still sit here comfortably plumped inside my bottle.

The moral of the story is, I like pumping. Is this one of those “3 month minimum on the newbie routine” things, or is it safe to start out pumping?

I don’t know how much use your contraption is, but be careful not to get stuck in it.

Haha yeah, that would be embarrassing, huh? 9-1-1? My swollen dick is trapped in a Gatorade bottle!

Imagine that, lol.

I knew a guy who got his stuck in a glass milk bottle back in the ’60s. The ER got it off but not without a few stitches. Ouch!

You can start off pumping, but you have to start off like a newbie pumper and that means taking it slow and easy.

After thinking about it for awhile, I realized that after years of pumping and trying every combination you can think of, slow and easy is the best way to pump all of the time.

Gatorade’s slogan is "Is it in you?"

I guess this makes your slogan "Am I in IT?"

I have to admire your ingenuity, and now you have some inkling at next to no cost what a little vacuum can do.

Do NOT go to the opposite no cost extreme, however, and try a vacuum cleaner nozzle next. I’ve heard of no good from that.

Save your pennies and you can step up to a Harbor Freight brake bleeder pump and something like an aquarium gravel cleaning cylinder ; and for the deluxe, even-better-than-a-Gatorade-raw-plastic-edge experience, maybe even splurge on a little Plastidip for the cylinder opening. You’ll have a good metal pump with a gauge that you can use with more expensive cylinders later on, and the rest costs very little.

So I’ve read, gprent. And even if I hadn’t, if I’m going to take pumping advice from anyone, I think it would be you; you seem to be revered as something of a pumping guru on these boards.

I did this bottle thing a couple more times today (it’s barely a pull at all, just enough to feel it) and saw some nice immediate effects. As in, it looked a little bit impressive the first few seconds after I took the thing off. It faded fast, but it was enough to convince me that I like pumping, and want to step it up — slowly and carefully — with a more substantial rig.

So all things in moderation apply even to pumping, huh. :-)

Lampwick, that’s, in fact, exactly what I was planning on doing. I collected those part ideas from around the forum and I’m just waiting for the money to do it with. Quick question though; what’s the best way to hook the pump up to the aquarium cylinder? Do I just need to buy a particular fitting and epoxy it in place?

What I did was to cut a short length of the flexible plastic tube that you get with the gravel cleaning cylinder, and then I bought a barbed brass fitting that matched the flexible plastic tube on one end, and the tubing from the brake bleeder on the other end. I’ll see if I can post a photo that would make things clearer.

Lampwick knows his stuff and can help you with putting something together cheaply. I was in too much of a rush to “start pumping” and didn’t follow his excellent suggestions and directions and ended up paying a lot of money for my vacuum pump system. It is a good one, but I could have put it together for less money if I had followed Lampwick’s instructions. I wish I had followed his advice for I now could use that extra money to buy a new cylinder.

Have Lampwick direct you to the “correct size cylinder” so you won’t grow out of it too soon.

Don’t be in a rush. Think about it, then take a breath, and then follow Lampwick suggestions.

Good Luck
Lampwick, along with gprent and supersizeit are good people to listen to. They know their stuff!

Wow, thanks, Panos. That’s a very respectable testimonial, and I’ll be sure to follow it. It’s great that there are so many real vets on these forums, and that they’re willing to offer up whatever they know to newbies like me.

And Lampwick, I know exactly the kind of thing you’re talking about with the hose barb. What do you say about helping me pick a cylinder, though? I need to measure my BG, since I don’t have it on file, and it’s just too damn late for me tonight.. But if I report in with that, you think you could offer me some advice in that area?

Hey, I’m a pretty “new” Newbie too. I only joined on April 7th, a few days after you joined on April 3rd.

Your BPEL 5.750 (5-3/4”) is way larger than mine, but your EG 4.250
(4-1/4”) is close to my EG 4.000 (4”) when I began pumping. Although I was smaller than the smallest EG shown on the size charts, I contacted the manufacturer by e-mail and eventually went according to their replies. I ordered the smallest cylinder offered, the 1-1/2” dia cylinder, based on an “Erect Penis Circumference of 4-3/4” (4.750). As I said before, my EG was only 4.000.

I don’t know if it’s normal or not, but since I began pumping on April 26th, my penis has “gained” fairly quickly in “girth” and as of my last measurement on June 16th, it was EG 5.063 (5-1/16”). That’s an EG gain of 1.063, or
1-1/16.” It has stayed at that mark for a little over 2 weeks. At the same time, my FG went from 4.000 (4”) to 5.000(5”).

However, even though I gained substantually in Erect girth, my Erect length has gained only 1/8” in the same time period. I have been told that girth is easier to obtain than length.

Since my dick has grown from a “flaccid girth”, FG 4.000, to a new “flaccid girth,” FG 5.000 (5”), it now almost completely fills up the cylinder while still in the flaccid state. So, when I pump, it has no where to go BUT UP!

Because of this, I thought I needed a “larger/WIDER” cylinder. But, I have been now convenced that I should stick with the 1-1/2” dia. cylinder that I have and not purchase a new larger/.
It is better to work on “length first”, and then on girth later. I understand that it is more difficult to gain length. Since I have a fairly good girth now, I will work towards length first. Then after I gain in length I will be ready for a “larger/wider” cylinder.

It may not be anything that you have to worry about, but I just thought I would bring it up. w
