Marathon Pumping Experiences

(Read this first part in red lettering, I don’t know how to use the red)

IMPORTANT:
Marathon pumping is an extremely advanced pumping routine and should not be attempted by anyone except the very most advanced of pumpers, and even then only if they have safely worked up to the amount of time necessary to be in the cylinder for one of these “marathon” sessions, and have a very good understanding of their personal threshold for pumping and the point at which things start to become unsafe. A newbie, or even intermediate, pumper should not even think of attempting this.

Ok, first off, I have never done marathon pumping, this is really just an academic curiosity of mine lately. This fascination was spurred on by a discussion with Titleist regarding his own marathon pump sessions. The principles seem sound to me. In accordance with what I know about permanent tissue elongation/expansion, that is. I know, however, many pumpers, even the big vets like Avocet, do not believe long stretches in the tube are beneficial or even safe under some circumstances.

Since I was so damn curious about it I have been searching around this forum and others for a thread about marathon pumping, and aside from some detailed posts by BigGirtha, I have not found a quality discussion of the technique, its principles, and parameters. So I figured I’d start a thread of my own in hopes of sparking a quality discussion.

So here are the questions I feel are pertinent:
1) what was/is the general overview of your marathon pumping routine?
2) how long was the total marathon pump session? Each time in the cylinder? Each break?
3) what pressure or other measurement of intensity did you use?
4) did you use heat?
5) did you try and pack a small tube or use a larger tube to allow for a lot of expansion laterally?
6) did you ever try marathon pumping with water?
7) did you add any other exercises during pump sessions or during your breaks?
8) how erect were you going into the cylinder? Did you try and maintain an erection the entire time, and if so how?
9) what were your gains like during periods where pumping marathons were part of your routine?
10) did you ever have any injuries? Negative PI’s?
11) how did marathon pumping effect your EQ?
12) anything else you might want to add to the discussion.

Answering any or all of these questions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for any and all replies.

Roots

Hey rootsnatty, I’ve had some sessions go over the 2 hour mark lately while I’ve been experimenting with pumping. No ill effect that I see. I take regular breaks and also sometimes within a set I’ll help circulation by releasing pressure for a few seconds and then pump it right back up without taking the tube off. Other sets I’ll do dynamic pressure and circulation is less of an issue. I’m not sure marathon is any more or less effective than normal pump sessions. I just go by feel on times and breaks, I’d guess max time in tube ever is 50 min with those regular pressure releases every 15 min or so. But the majority of sets are between 15-30 minutes.

I’ve only been experimenting with it about a month so I can’t comment on all the questions, I don’t have it down to a routine yet, mostly experimental. The only negatives are fluid buildup (slightly more than a normal session) which goes away by the next day, and discoloration which I think is more from experimenting with higher pressures rather than longer sessions. Firegoat rolls are a key exercise between sets and after the session, I also stretch and jelq. I have successfully staged into a larger cylinder using a marathon session - my girth is 4.4 or 4.5 maybe now, and I staged up to packing a 1.75” ID = 5.5” girth cylinder. As a reference point, if I do a “normal” pumping session, I don’t even pack my 1.5” cylinder completely. So that’s an available technique for huge temporary expansion, but the downside is that most of that 5.5” girth is fluid, and that time it took more like 2 days to completely drain the fluid. Because of that fluid, I stay with my 1.5” tube now. I will measure for gains in a month or two.

Check out this thread, PEforeal used marathon pump sessions as well.

BeardedDragon, what do you think about doing these marathon sessions with water? Have you ever tried water pumping?

It seems like that would alleviate many fluid retention problems, allow for more and quicker expansion, be a good heat source, and allow a bit higher pressures to be used safely for an extended time.

Oh, and I read that thread a couple days ago, it’s a good one, I just wanted to maybe hear a little more in depth experiences from more people.

It does sound like he was one of the pioneers of this pumping style though.

No experience with water pumping yet, marathon or otherwise. So far my favorite use for marathon pumping is with the dynamic stretch style of pumping, gradually increasing the length in tube throughout the session. Too early to tell if it’s working.

I think as far as extreme PE methods go, marathon pumping at low pressures is pretty safe. Any discomfort or pain, simply release pressure for 20 seconds, and then pump it back up. Take the tube off to let it breathe every 20-30 minutes, it’s fine.

Regarding pressure, I pump at around 3”hg for low pressure pumping on the long sets. With dynamic stretch style, I get up to 15” Hg but that is only for 10 seconds at a time. The higher pressure is less safe. Sometimes I mix and match, doing the first half of a session at low pressure until I begin to pack the tube, then the second part of the session I’ll do dynamic stretching.

I notice an inverse relationship between pressure, and time at that pressure for a given level of comfort. So for example, at 3”hg, the set will become uncomfortable after say 30 minutes. At 5”hg, the set becomes uncomfortable at 3 minutes. At 10”hg it’s uncomfortable at 30 seconds. At 15”Hg, it’s uncomfortable at 10 seconds. The moment a set becomes uncomfortable, I release pressure and pump back up. Then I can go almost as long as I want (2 hour session) but eventually I get a clear message to stop the entire marathon session. Either my whole dick feels fatigued, or my skin feels raw, or my PB is tired of the tube pressing. Any sign of that pre-blistery raw skin feeling, and that’s the end of my session.

Water pumping is where it’s at if you have the patience. I’m not sure how the mechanism works but there’s greater expansion with less trauma.

Indeed, water pumping would be great for a set or two in or near the bathtub, but I could see it becoming impractical for a marathon session as you would need to replace the warm water several times as you sucked it out of the cylinder and/or it began to cool down.

I wonder if keeping the water warm with an external heat source and reusing the same water over multiple pumps might alleviate some of the practical issues. May not be the most sanitary though if you are a guy that gets a lot of precum leakage while pumping.

Reuse until it gets cloudy? ;)

The biggest practical issue I found is you’re confined to an area you don’t mind getting wet. If you lose the seal (which is common with air or water) the area you’re in is getting wet.

When I marathon pump I do get up and move around.

I’ve tried water pumping and constant heating with an infrared lamp, seems to work pretty well at keeping everything warm.

As far as long sessions go I did a stretch of about 6 months doing 45mins almost every day, gained nothing from it.
I was taking a 30sec break every 5mins though, maybe constant pressure would have worked better ?

I think for MP to work sets should be at least 15-20 minutes. In between sets work up to a full erection and then repeat.

I often say I listen to my dick. Well if I can’t get erect in five minutes in between sets, I’m done.

Yes, this seems like a good way to go about things, as soon as pumping begins compromising EQ, stop. In fact, both Titleist’s methods for gauging time and intensity seem solid:

Intensity: enough pressure to exceed BPEL (but in the low to moderate range of 4-6” hg).
Time: as soon as erections are compromised that’s it.

I am a big fan of doing things by feel in PE as long as you are mindful of safety. You do need to listen to your cock, as Titleist puts it, in that way PE becomes auto-regulating.

Pumping at lower pressures, even at moderate ones, applies very little actual stress to the connective tissue of the tunica. For this reason, I think it is important to spend a longer amount of time in the cylinder. Sort of like extenders vs. hangers, the lower force extenders should be left on for much longer at a stretch to see decent results. Unfortunately pumping presents other obstacles for low force-maximum time applications such as fluid buildup, edema, blisters, and restricted circulation. Still, you should spend as much time in the tube as is comfortable and safe if you want to gain.

Note, I am talking about time in a single pump up, between breaks, not the total session time.

Also, due to the low force nature of pumping, I do not believe it can create permanent results for every man. Namely, men with very tough tunicae will probably need more force than a pump can provide (safely) to expand enough to achieve permanent gains. These men will achieve similar pumped swells if they pump long enough, but far more of it will be from fluid retention between the skin and tunica sheath, rather than an actual stretching of the tunica.

It undoubtedly does work for some, however. Standard (non-marathon) pumping was the first serious PE I did and I still have retained the girth gains that showed up after the temporary swell went away. I suppose the only way to know for sure is to give it a try! :)

I agree with most of your assumptions. I think why MP has worked so well for me is I ensure my length under vacuum exceeds my BPEL.

Heat, pressure, time and erection level are all critical in achieving this stretch. I don’t exceed my BPEL until I’m about a hour. Most pumpers are done in less time than a hour.

So the marathon not only allows you to have a great deal of total time in the pump, but it also lets you take things nice and slow. I think this is a valuable point. When we push things too quick pumping is when we see the most fluid retention and other negative reactions.

1) Intended to supplement an extender routine. Replace a day of extending with a pumping marathon whereas pumping was normally done after extender usage for between 30-60 minutes

2) 4 sets of one hour. 10 minute breaks.

3) Use of Mr. Fantastic’s dynamic pump. Cycle between set amounts, gradually decreasing vacuum used as I would pass my original EL. Highest was -8.5 I believe.

4) Yes. Heated the tube before a set with an IR lamp and heated gel pack inside. During set small electric blanket intended for back and 2 gel packs wrapped around the tube.

5) Pack small tube for as long as possible, move over to slightly larger afterwards.

6) No.

7) Jelq between sets. Stretch before first one.

8) 100% erection going. Intermittently maintaining one through porn. Probably should’ve gone for more stimulation.

9) Sadly, no length. Girth went up by .2”

10) Edema. Out of 3 marathon sessions I had one session that gave me obnoxious amount of edema. Whereas usually I’ll have a little edema (And less with silicon based lube) I went from a normal EG of 5.8” to a whopping 7.1” EG. Even more peculiar the next day the edema was completely gone but my FG had exceeded my EG. Sadly this effect dissipated within about 2 days.

11) Not much, if at all. Being massively horny helps I guess.

12) I’m still after length. Seeing Titleist success with his marathon pumping I added pumping to my extending and marathon as replacement for a complete day of PE (Now and then). I’ve gained nothing in length although I suspect it has cemented these gains. The added girth is nice.
