Low HG/High HG relates to size?

I see guys talking on this forum about how they do 3-5 hg sets..

I have to say that this wouldn’t do anything to me even over the course of say.. an hour.

5 is a bare minimum to feel any kind of suction or traction. To really expand in the tube I have to take it higher than that.

Is it because of my small starting size? Is it because I’m conditioned by a lot of hanging?

I don’t think I’m pumping wrong.

Anyone with less than 6.5 BPEL have similar problems?

Do you do any flacid stretches before pumping? I get almost an inch more in the tube if I stretch first

Lostracco, I did some extensive hanging before I began pumping. I too have to pump to between 5 and 7 in HG to get any kind of expansion in the tube. I don’t know if there is any correlation. Since it’s just you and I so far, I’d call it coincidence. Perhaps more members will weigh in on this and we can either prove or disprove this.

chainz - Alright. Wonder if big girtha would chime in.. I read in his routine that he hung 2 hours a day and pumped at the end of the day.

Big Girtha’s most recent post here was 16 October 2007, so I hope that you are not in a hurry for a response. You might want to PM him in case he checks in and doesn’t happen to see this thread.


For Lampwick, becoming hung like a donkey was the result of a total commitment.

My girth is 6” and 5-7hg in a 2” cylinder feels exactly the same as 2-3 hg in a 2.25” cylinder. My point is, it’s not about numbers, it’s about ‘feel’.

IrishJim has an interesting point, but look at it the other way around.

‘Feel’ is not an accurate indicator of how much force is being applied via relative vacuum, if 5 - 7 inHg in a 2” cylinder feels the same as 2 - 3 inHg in a 2.25” cylinder.

That’s the benefit of pumping according to the gauge and the clock, rather than just going by ‘feel’, which can be misleading and is more difficult to do in a consistent way.

I don’t pump merely by “feel”. I know what it takes to get expansion for ME. I would not recommend anyone else to pump at increased HG as I do. However for me time is too hard to come by, to waste at 2-3 inHG with no expansion.We are all different. What works for me is what works for me.

Chainz, Lostrocco:

You are both hangers, and you are both noting that you need higher levels of force to get expansion from pumping. Both of you say that you have done extensive hanging. I’m wondering a couple of things.

First, how close is your flaccid length to your stretched flaccid length or erect length? I’m wondering about your elasticity.

Second, when is the last time that you saw gains from your routine?

I’m wondering if you both need a deconditioning break, and I’m wondering whether your inability to get expansion at low vacuum levels is an indication of that. Just a thought.

I won’t argue with that, but I will note that since you can’t increase vacuum levels forever (what do you do when 5 - 7 inHg becomes ineffective?), you might want to think about your next step. You having to pump at 5 - 7 inHg to see results is evidence of something, but what?

Lampwick; I judge sessions on both feel and the gauge. I would never risk pumping without using the gauge. Tonight towards the end of a 20 minute session at 6-7Hg I noticed a dull ache developing around the head of my dick and terminated the session immediately. That’s a first, but just goes to show you cannot be complacent. What feels comfortable one day, could cause damage on another, even at the same Hg. I now have a settled routine giving me reasonable expansion at 5-7 Hg in my 2” cylinder (I cannot accept that gains are possible with zero expansion) Also, I’m enjoying the sessions, which means I will sustain the effort over a long enough period, which is where I feel that further gains may be possible. Anyway we shall see.

Irishjim, that sounds like a good approach.

I would never suggest that anyone pump exclusively by feel OR exclusively by the gauge OR exclusively by the clock (or just by the tape measure). You are combining multiple factors into your decisions on your routine and your sessions, and your decisions will be that much the better for it.

I don’t know how you could gain via pumping if you saw no expansion. But the answer is not always more vacuum. (I know that you know that.)

You make a very good point about not being complacent. The price of a larger penis via pumping is eternal vigilence. ;)

My last decon break ended the first of the year. As far as making gains, I haven’t measured in quite awhile as I feel it is counter-productive. Getting obsessed with the ruler can kill ones motivation. But my gal pals both have made comments recently about me feeling bigger. That is all the ruler I need. As far as my flaccid length versus stretched flaccid length, my stretched flaccid is around two inches longer than my flaccid at last measure which was in March sometime. As for having nowhere to go on the vacuum scale, I have been pumping for three years give or take and have always used 5 to 7 inHg. As I said, it’s what works for me.

Just saw this thread.

Started pumping about a month ago (with a week and a half break due to travel), and I also get no expansion beyond normal erection at 3 - 4” Hg.

I need at least 5” Hg to see anything, and I’ve only gone there a few times as I’m new to it. But I agree, I thought you needed the expansion to grow, so I’m kind of wondering what to do here.

I’m thinking of going to 5 - 6” Hg.

Freedman, what is your girth measurement, and what is the diameter of your cylinder?
