Length In Tube

I’ve read that some people have an in-tube length that is greater than BPEL. My BPFSL is a lot more than my BPEL, but while pumping my length doesn’t exceed my BPEL. I like to use fairly high pressure (around 8hg) because at low pressure I’m not completely hard, which makes me think that I’m not making progress.

Would lower pressure allow more length expansion in the tube, or is there another reason why some guys are longer than BPEL while in the tube?

Funny. I tried pumping yesterday with a toy pump (I don’t even consider it a PE device); anyway, even at very high pressure I was more than 1” shorter in the pump than my BPEL. I think the cause is the cylinder is way too large.

Yes, for best length in the tube, a correct fitting tube is important as well as proper lube near the base and on the shaft that lets you extend as far a possible into the tube.


The primary goal of PE should be to make your penis as healthy as possible in both form and function. If you do that, increased size will follow.

My In the tube length (measuring from the base of the tube to the tip of the head) is about the same as my BPEL. However, there is still at least 1/4 inch of skin/fat pad remaining between the base and the bone when I am at 5 hg. If I increase the vacuum to over 8 hg, my in tube length increases a little short of another 1/2”. Some of the increase is due to pressing harder against the bone, but the rest must be due to additional engorgement and possibly pulling out more of my inner penis.

I also use an extender and when I am at max stretch in the extender my length in the extender (measured from the base of the extender to the tip of the head) is at least 1/4 inch longer than my length in the tube at 8 hg. In this case, it is definitely pulling out more of my inner penis.

7” bp normal erect length, 7 1/2” bp after PE. Bpfs length is 8”.

I can reach 8” in the tube at around 10 - 12hg and a half hour or so of pumping.

My BPEL is 7.75” but my BPFSL is more than 8.5” so I’ll slowly work up time and pressure to see if I can get above 7.75 in the tube. I usually do 20 mins at around 7 or 8 hg.

In the BathMate I measured over 8”, but that’s because the base compresses, making the measurement sticker inaccurate. Combine that with the optical illusion the water gives and guys think that they are way bigger than usual.

I am BPEL 7.75 inches conservatively and have a BPFSL of 8.25. In my pump I can reach 8.5 - 8.6 after about 20 minutes. Hoping that I can gain some more length to get that BPEL of 8 inches. Pumping with hot water seems to be the trick for me. I get greater expansion in both directions and can pump at higher pressures without blistering.

I go from around 8 3/4”-9” to 10.25 after an hour and fifteen minutes….just wish i could clamp it at that length!

Some do; some don’t (have an in-tube length greater than BPEL).

marinera and gprent bring up a key point. Your expansion in the cylinder depends in part on how closely the cylinder diameter matches your girth. A larger diameter cylinder is going to allow more girth expansion, and think about blowing up a balloon shaped like a cylinder - it can expand greatly in girth without growing much in length. In fact, as that cylindrical balloon, uncontained, gets more and more pressure, it might actually shorten in length as it tries to distribute forces equally and becomes more spherical than cylindrical.

I’m not saying that is what happens to your penis, but just something to think about.

And some points that no one has brought up yet. There are at least some pumpers who do not worry about being completely hard while in the cylinder. I don’t think you need to be completely hard to get expansion and to make progress.

That leads to my second point. You are pumping at a fairly high vacuum out of what may be an inaccurate perception that it’s desirable to be fully hard in the tube. Have you tried lower vacuum, longer duration? If you do that, I’d suggest that you take a break from time to time, exit the tube and do a little light massage or a few jelqs.


For Lampwick, becoming hung like a donkey was the result of a total commitment.

tube length may be shorter than BPEL because the erection may expand in the lateral direction more, or more likely is that the tube does not press as hard into the fat pad as a BPEL measurement.

On this hour and fifteen minutes, are you breaking the vacuum and re doing it every 20 minutes or so, or is it a straight one hour and fifteen minutes under vacuum? Are you using warm/hot water in the tube?

Tube size correlates to your objective. If I use a 2” tube I can pack all 9” of the tube and feel the length pull. When I use a 2.25 tube , I cannot get the same length but I can pack the girth and feel the girth pull. When I use a 2 x 2.5 elliptical tube I get 7” of length but significant girth pull. I cannot pack the elliptical tube either girth or length. The tube size will determine how and where the vacuum is concentrated. I also wear a thin silicone sleeve when pumping at higher pressure to prevent bruising. See the thread on making you own silicone sleeves.

Thats a good reason to have 2 cylinders.Switch every other session to keep both girth and legnth in check.

I don’t want to keep girth or length in check, though; I want them completely unharnessed! :)

Seriously, though, I know what you’re getting at. Have one tube that is a little smaller in diameter to encourage length, and one a little larger in diameter to encourage girth. That’s not a bad approach at all.

I was able to expand past my BPEL in the tube by about 1/4” doing what many would consider extreme pumping. 30 mins starting at 5.5 hg and increasing pressure 1 hg every five minutes until I was at 9.5 hg, which I stayed at for the last 10 mins. I hadn’t pumped for about a month before this, so I got a lot of fluid buildup, packing a 2” diameter cylinder up to just below the glans. If I had a 1.75” diameter cylinder I pack it a lot quicker and I might be able to expand even further length-wise.

When you expand past your normal girth, it’s obviously edema, but when you expand past your normal erect length, it appears to be tissue expansion. I don’t see why this wouldn’t translate to permanent gains if done routinely (maybe 3-4 time a week) and consistently for a number of months.

When I read about people not making permanent gains from pumping, I never see this issue addressed. This could possibly mean that by not forcing the tissue to expand past its regular length limit, they are not triggering a growth response from the body.

I’d be interested to know if anyone on here has pumped past BPEL for at least a few months and not gained erect length.
