I finally did it, I'm joining the pumpers

I have considered incorporating the occasional mild pump session for years now. I just said f*ck it today and ordered a JD 2” cylinder of of ebay for $27. I’m heading to the auto parts store tomorrow to get a gauged vac pump for $20 and adapt it when the pump arrives. I can’t wait to give some light pumping a try. I’ve been reading alot of posts on it and sensible pumping sounds pretty good. Wish me luck fellas.

“Richard Pumper?”

Yay!

I’m gonna start pumping once I reach 7.5inches length.

6.5 right now.

Please keep this thread updated with results.

Good luck! If I could only use one method of PE, It’d be pumping. When my time is seriously curtailed (like now) I’ll skip everything else to get in a pump session. I hope you get good results and enjoy it!

Two thoughts, Richard:

1. Consider the Harbor Freight pump. You probably won’t find a metal vacuum pump with a gauge for $20 at your local auto parts store.

2. Realize that unless your JD cylinder already comes with some kind of basic pump, you will need a male adapter for your vacuum pump to connect to the JD cylinder. Neither the standard auto store vacuum pump nor the Harbor Freight pump ship with the adapter you need to connect to a cylinder.

(If your JD cylinder does come with some kind of basic pump, you can just steal the male adapter from that and move it to the vacuum hose on your new pump.)

Good luck!

Thanks guys, I’m hoping for some new experiences. I appreciate the help and yes, I am aware that I will be adapting my brake bleeder and cylinder. That’s no problem. I’ve worked with fluid power for many years.

In regard to that harbor freight hand pump, it is a common pump (patented design) that many stores offer. They simply slap their sticker on it and walla! For instance, Autozone here in town offers the exact same kit as harbor for $39. Sears and a couple of the other auto stores here offer the mityvac pumps for $30-$35. There is a Harbor freight that is one hour south of me which I may drive to. If I ordered it online, it’s like $20 and $8 shipping. I personally would rather just pay the extra $7 or so and buy one in town.

I appreciate the help guys and the support. I believe that my routine, which will be repeated about every other day, will look something like this:

5-10 minute pre warm (hot soak)
In the cylinder semi-erect/erect for 10 minutes at 2-5hg
5 minutes massage, jelq, bends (basically my normal jelq session or a bit lighter depending on feel)
Back in the cylinder for 10 minutes at 2-5hg
5-10 minutes massage, jelq, bends (basically my normal jelq session or a bit lighter depending on feel)
5- 10 minutes post warm (hot soak)

Any advice or critique from veteran pumpers is always welcome.

Congrats, Richard! You are going to really like pumping. I find it really calming and relaxing - I think it must release “feel good” brain chemicals.

That routine sounds good. While I am not a real vet, the only thing I would advise is work up gradually to the 10 minute sets. I basically followed avocet8’s acclimation program here:

Vacuum Pumping 101
___
Week 1: One 10 minute session per day
Week 2: One 15 minute session per day
Week 3: Two 10 minute sessions per day
Week 4: Two 15 minute sessions per day
Week 5: One 20 minutes session, one 10 min session, per day
Week 6: Two 20 minute sessions per day
Week 7: Three 20 minute sessions per day *

I’d say maybe keep the pressure in the 2.0 to 3.0HG range until you’ve gotten acclimated. It is funny, if I go to 5.0HG it gets to be counter-productive, so I am currently doing most of my pumping from 3 to 4HG. Your mileage may vary though.

P.S. the harbor freight standard shipping is by parcel post and it is SLOWWWWWWW. I think it took a month to get mine. It is a great pump though.

Yes, I think 2 is where I’ll start and feel my way from there. I’m just stoked about finally trying it. Great stats by the way. Congrats to you as well!

Congrats again on the pump purchase!

I received my JB cylinder yesterday. Holy shit, a 2” cylinder looks gi-normous! I was a bit disappointed though. There’s sticky shit on the cylinder as if from a peeled label and scuff/scratch marks on the tube that look like it’s been hit with sandpaper or something.

Anyway, I’m stoked about getting started. I am driving to Harbor Freight Tuesday to pick up my vacuum pump. I called ahead and they said they have it in stock for $19.95.

Thanks for all the help guys and I’ll be sure to post my experience here after I come out of the tube.

That cylinder sounds a little sketchy. Used maybe? If it was me I would contact the seller and get your money back.

I have two cylinders —

“Standard design” from Bostonpump.com — it is a 1.75” and is great, about $60.00

“Jim Diamond” from picturebrite.com — it is a 2.00” (my “aspirational” cylinder, I guess!) and was about $30.00.

I like the Boston a little bit better, because it has a feature they call a “built-in cockring” — basically that means the lip is a little thicker and smaller than the rest of the cylinder. The upshot is that it makes it really easy to get a good seal. But the “Jim Diamond” is decent too.

If I had the extra cash I would get the new widemouth/oval cylinder at lapdist.com - it is about $90.00 I am wanting to work on side to side girth and it looks like it would be perfect for that. But money does not grow on trees.

True. Yes I think I’m going to call them and tell them about my disappointment. They ask for ratings on Ebay, I’m going to mention that if they would be willing to discount me on a 1.75”, I may be more inclined to leave a positive for them. That was my first thought was used or a new guy scraped the labels off and probably should be retrained.LOL

Well, I got my pump today, brought it home and put it together. I did not change the fitting on the cylinder, I simply trimmed about 1 mil from the tube that came with the pump and locked it into the cylinder fitting and walla, vacuum!

I started with a pre- warm and massage, lubed the base flange a tad and the first couple inches inside the tube, went in about 1/2 erect and stayed about 7 minutes, came out and jelqed for 3-5 minutes then back in for 6-7 minutes @ 3hg, then out and warmed down.

The biggest problem I face is that I have slight penoscrotal web, about 1 inch or so onto the shaft base. This causes alot of discomfort if I get over 3 hg, not that I will for some time anyway, but I did bump to 5hg to see how it would feel and it obviously pulls harder on the base area and really is uncomfortable after 20 seconds or so.

I came out a couple of times to adjust and try and keep this from happening but to no avail. The bottom side of my base is simply always going to have extra tissue sucked into the tube, and it is never going to be comfy for me. I am determined to make pumping a regular part of my girth routine though, so I’ll suck it up ( no pun intended) and drive onward and upward!

9 in richard, I suspect that, with time, that problem will lessen. There’s a good chance you’ll develop more base girth, which will reduce the problem with the penoscrotal webbing. As that happens, you’ll pack the base of the tube more quickly in the session, and that will take care of the problem.

Over time, if your pumping sessions increase in duration, you will increase in size in the course of the session, and once again that will decrease the problem. Don’t rush the process, however. Don’t increase your session time too quickly. Watch your EQ. Done properly (not overdoing), pumping will increase (not decrease) your EQ.
