Discoloration is not exclusive to any particular PE exercise, nor is any PE exercise exempt from discoloration as a risk.

If the only reason you are not jelqing is fear of discoloration, go ahead and jelq, and just be careful and watch for discoloration. Discoloration does not appear overnight if you are careful in your PE.

Personally I would do a manual newbie routine for three months before beginning pumping. That allows you to see how your penis responds to PE and teaches you about your penis so you will not over do it.

Lampwick is right — jelqing does not necessarily lead to discoloration. I will go out on a limb here and say that there are probably very very very very few people who get discoloration from jelqing. Quite frankly you do not need to strangle your penis when you jelq. A light grip is sufficient. As Lampwick says, being CAREFUL and observant is the key.

Since you are concerned about these issues, I suggest you start out with a lighter newbie routine along the lines of this one:

I did something similar to that when I started out with pretty good results. Start light, get the hang of things, and go from there.

So I have a question regarding this issue of gaining size from pumping.. I’ve only been pumping for a week and I’m doing 10 minutes a day at around 3-5Hg (8/2” cylinder).. So far I’ve noticed I can expand the length from 6” to about 6 1/2” max at 5Hg, while my girth only plumps up slightly. Except the base girth which fills the bottom inch and a half and basically creates the bulk of my seal. My base girth is normally around 5 3/4”. My question is, how long did it take you guys to get to the point where you not only see significant expansion during your pumping session, but when you pull out of the tube and get back to a full erection your dick is at the size that it was in the tube?

Thus far I’ve only noticed a slight increase in EQ when I pull out of the tube.. Can’t wait to finally see some gains!

Here’s my stats by the way.

6”nbp, 6 1/2” bpel, 5.4/5.5 msg, 5.25 near base, 5.75 at the base.

I also wanted to add that I know discoloration of any kind is supposed to be a bad PI, however, when I pull out of the tube I notice that my dick is a slight red/blueish color.almost as if you were to cut off the circulation to your finger for a minute or so. It’s really subtle, but noticeable, and also goes away in a matter of seconds. Should this be a sign that I need to keep the pressure down a bit? I’m experiencing no other negative PI’s.. Unless you would call having a sort of “fuzzy” texture to my penis for the few minutes after a session a negative PI. It’s hard to describe, but it doesn’t feel like it’s a negative PI, more just a result of the skin being stretched I think.

Anyways, just want to say thanks for any replies. I REALLY appreciate this place and hope to donate after I pay off my credit card :-/. I don’t want to think what it’d be like if I had never stumbled across this place.I always figured the penis you were born with is the one you were stuck with for life. I feel a new sense of empowerment and excitement for the future knowing that I can change the size of my cock. Even if it is only a slight change in size, just being able to increase hardness and all that penis health B.S. Is better than nothing :-P

What is your routine? How long are you spending in the tube at a time?

Keep in mind that you can always break your routine up into shorter segments, pull out of the tube, jelq or massage a bit to get fresh blood in, and then resume your session. This becomes more important as you move beyond being a pumping newbie and extend your time in a session.

I actually have been releasing the pressure halfway through my session and massaging a little bit. My sessions right now are only 10 minutes, but tomorrow I’m going to increase it as it’s been a week now. I use around 3-5Hg of pressure. Have you seen any gains which you can attribute to pumping?

I have; more gain in girth than in length.

A break of some kind every five minutes sounds good. Some do something as simple as releasing the vacuum level down to zero for 30 seconds every five minutes. (You don’t even have to exit the tube.)

As you increase the duration of your pumping, keep in mind that you do not HAVE to do things in increments of five minutes. If you’re doing two 5 minute sets now, and you want to add time, you could just do another 5 minute set, for a total of 15 minutes. Watch your PIs and EQ; if you do not tolerate that increase well, do three 4 minutes sets instead, for a total of 12 minutes, or an increase of two rather than five minutes.

This is a great question! Being new to pumping, I’m very interested in this as well!

discoloration comes more from pumping too long at high pressure and clamping too long without heat or just in general. It would take a very long time to see discoloration from jelqing.

Start with the newbie routine. Add heat to your stretching and use tight grips with jelqing. Overdoing it will only set you back. Pumping is a good supplement when done right, but you cannot beat the natural stuff. Try dry jeqing. It helped me get gains. clamping also in conjunction, but not until you are conditioned.
