But make sure they are only charging you 17.5% VAT. The carriers this end UBS /DHL have a nasty habit of chargin 35% VAT. Which is something to do with commercial transactions. If they have overcharged VAT. they should return this.

A while ago I got some lip-reading tapes from the states and UBS did the 35% thing to me; although I let it go as I got a very good deal from the suppliers.

I you would like to set out the various amounts they have charged you we can have a look but part of the charge the people this end put on is for customs clearance. And it’s difficult to argue that although it usually is excessive.

I mentioned - in another thread- that there are good quality UK suppliers I paid about £100 for a very good quality pump that can be used with water as well.

It’s good to be small. When I ship over the pond I put a personal return address on and mark the custom’s forms as a gift with a value of $20. No headaches or extra fees I’m aware of and only $15us to ship a pound and a half package.

UK Customs allow items through whichi are below a certain level, (I’m not sure what it is) As I don’t import that much nowadays.

To be honest I don’t think it’s anything to do with lapdist. If they sent you the goods without further charge from them, then they have fulfilled their obligation. The extra charges have been made in the UK, by the carriers and Customs.

You might be able to dispute the carriers charges, by saying you could have seen the items through customs yourself and thus saved their charges. and didn’t authorise them to do it in the first place, you will have a stronge case to complain if they have overcharged on VAT. As that would be fraudulent, and distinctly illegal.

I remember when I challenged DHL some years ago when they had done the same thing they quickly refunded everything they had charged. As I pointed out I could have quite easily have gone to Heathrow and done it all myself.

Well its been a week, I thought I wouldve had an email back by now. I know it was custom/VAT charges, but I dont know why I got charged, considering I didnt for my PE weights…

Has anyone thought, that maybe the extra money at time or delivery was for the European customs. European countries all collect duty on arrival. As for the bad pump, contact your supplier, they most likely will replace for you.
