ED and pumping

After months of reading here, I chose pumping and jelqing as a way to hopefully regain the abilities of my 20’s (I’m 48, and have had varying levels of ED for about 12 years).

Using avocet8’s “vacuum pumping 101” as a reference, I bought a high quality setup from LA Pump and have been experimenting for a week now, leading me to wonder about the following:

1. No way I could start off with 5 in/Hg (ow!), so I go with 3, then increase to 4 and 5 now, once that feels comfortable. But at such low vac, I didn’t feel much beneficial effect, so instead of 1x10min per day, I do 2x, (AM and PM). Is that inherently risky, or was 1x10min @ 5in/Hg just a conservative starting point?
2. Speaking of multiple sessions, is it better to pump/jelq/pump, etc, in one long session, or break it up like I do?
3. A few days into it I bought a heating pad, but don’t like it as a warm-up, only as a tube wrap. Is warming up as important for pumping as it is for other PE methods?
4. My jelqing is minimal, because once un-tubed I go from erect to thick-flaccid rather quickly. Is ANY jelq-like excercise helpful to penile health, or is a partial erection strictly necessary?
5. Because I use porn to help maintain the erection, it’s difficult not to lapse into jerking off, and as my package and libido improve, it seems like this will get worse, not better. Will this issue go away?

I appreciate success stories such as avocet’s and wcraig’s, so I hope some of you have encouraging tales, tips and insights to share. Thanks to all for for helping me finally get launched on this.

(BTW, I told my lady-friend about the forum, the pump, etc, and she’s not only supportive, but intrigued and I think kind of turned on. She even volunteered to take my pics!)

I don’t think it matters so long as you don’t overdo something.

I feel that alternating pump sets with jelking excercises will speed up gains. Jelking without using undo pressure is a very good excercise for men with some ED.

Jerking off almost never goes away once a guy has had his first orgasm from it.

The only reason not to have an ejaculation right after PE is that you lose some of your temporary pumped up size which resulted from that workout after shooting a load. I am not one of those who believe that masturbation or sex in any way interfere with long term gains.

Another point, about ED. Guys with ED issues will get better results from pumping if they do short, low pressure pump sets. It is about getting newly oxygenated blood into the arterial system and the tissues, and flushing out accumulated gunk at the same time. If you get, say, a total of three or four different pumped erections per PE session, allowing each to subside some then reinflate, then repeat, your penile vascular system gets a better workout than a lot of extended, stagnant time in the tube.

Think of pumping as duplicating, on a small scale, a healthy nocturnal erection pattern. Perfectly healthy guys your age with no ED get 4 -5 erections during REM sleep, each lasting about 30 minutes. That is a huge amount of newly-oxygenated blood exchange. Good nocturnal erection patterns need to be the goal of anyone with any degree of ED.

Haha!! I haven’t heard of a 12 step program for this, so guess I’ll learn to live with it somehow! Seriously, I’d decided somewhere along the line that masturbation was a/the reason for my decreasing desire and ability, so it did in fact worry me—that’s why I mentioned it at all. I’ll rethink that position.

I already feel like there have been improvements, and look forward to making the changes you mentioned.

As you get further along, the urge to go all the way to orgasm will diminish. Of course, every once in awhile you will still want to shoot a load and I think there is nothing wrong with it.
