Dr Kaplan- pressure going down..

Hi guys,

I wanted to get back to my pumping and have noticed that my pump does not keep the pressure anymore. I have this pump for 6 months-does it always happen to pumps after some time? I need to pump it with the hand all the time to keep pressure at one level-very uncomfortable.

Are there any solid pumps that you can recommend to me? Pumps that does not lose the pressure after some time?

Harbor freight is the place to g et your replacement. Mine went bad after a while as well. This pump is brass & has lasted a long time.

I’ve just got the kaplan pump. But I have to keep pumping too. How do you use the pressure holding valve? If I don’t pump constantly I lose pressure…

I’ve got a Lapdist pump, and I’m not sure about how it might resemble yours, but when I start losing pressure I unscrew the connector from the top of the cylinder and wash both in hot soapy water. I dry them over a radiator then, when I connect everything together again, it works perfectly. Hope this helps.

My Kaplan was OK for all the time…it started losing pressure recently.

I already did order one Lapdist pump today…was it always like that? Do Lapdist pump lose pressure always or maybe it started to lose for you recently?

No, it was not always like that. Just now and then, after much use, it must get a bit dirty with some of the lubricant I use while inside the cylinder. I wash it maybe once a month. Most of the time it’s great. Really good pump.

Then what am I doing wrong because if I stop pumping I slowly lose pressure. How do I use the valve to hold the pressure? Do I need a seal at the bottom to keep it air tight?
