I don’t think you would lower you erection by hanging in that position, you should be strengthing your erection for better performance. This is what I do and I feel that I have a stronger erection, even at the age of 63.

Kegel while hanging low. If your LOT is low you can actually lift your weights a little with the tug-back by flexing you BC muscle. This will actually strengthen your erections. Dr. Ruth used to say put a wet towel across your dick and lift it with erect kegels. Lifting your weights this way is just taking that old exercise a step further. But let your flaccid kegels lift the weight, not your erection. Never hang erect.
