Why we don't gain from hanging

Yes, I’m hanging like ALL DAY and NIGHT.

Time under tension. There is just NO SUBSTITUTE when hanging for gains.

So you are doing a total hanging time of 10 hours daily? How it’s going in St. Quentin?

You got it, buddy.. I’m hanging from when I wake up till when I go to bed.

I might take a few hours off to meet up with friends or something, but I’m getting in at least 10 hours a day easy.

I hope for you it’s not true, really. It’s not good for your mind.

where you got this idea? Where gains you achieve by hanging are coming from? It’s the TA becoming longer and thinner or there is new tissue that forms as a consequence of the repairing process?

Relevancy challenge on that one. I’m gaining.. rapidly. Soon will be big enough to hang up my Bib for good and be happy with my achievements.

Repair is going to occur whether you’re hanging or not. The more you’re stretched out, the longer it will be when it does heal!

You do NOT need to rest. It is counterproductive. Sleeping 8 hours and not hanging is enough. No rest days are needed. My 1/4” gain in the past two weeks says so.. and you know what Marinera, if it was anyone else I might seriously entertain this discussion.. but I’m just not going to get into it with you. We’ve been through this 800 times and it always gets ridiculous.

Hangers gain by hanging more.. and if you want to keep telling people otherwise that’s fine, but it’s not the truth. You’re only holding them back.

“Repair is going to occur wheter you’re hanging or not.”. It’s just your idea, right?

Anyway, if that is, why you don’t do hanging with 200 lbs 24 h on 24? Why are you using a so low weight?

I don’t know. Ask the 8 Ball.

Because after 160 hours in 40 days I had blood come out the tip of my dick. So I’m on injured reserve for now.

Thanks for the clarification on my questions.

No problem. I did the math.. that’s 4 hours a day. Are you talking 4 hours total hang time, or a 4 hour session?

4 hour session = 8 sets
4 hour total = 12 sets

Were you doing any other unrelated excercises? Jelqing, clamping, etc?

Did you go up in weight too fast?

Only blood I ever dealt with was when I was dealing with a lot of lymph fluid and a cut actually developed in the foreskin. That sounds highly unusual.

I’d be interested to know what happened leading up to that injury

Yes. I mean that you can do hanging 10 h daily only if you are living in a jail. And maybe not in that case either.

Total hanging time strapped in 4 hours a day. No I stopped jelqing before I started hanging. All I was doing was hanging. I’m not sure if I went up in weight to fast or not. I didn’t feel as if I did, but I’m sure there is a possibility. I was told that what I described resembled an inner tear and was advised to take a couple of weeks off.

That’s extremely possible.. rare.. but possible.

Well.. what I can say is that I haven’t heard as many injury reports from guys that move up in both time and weight at an appropriate rate.

Move up 1 or 2 lbs a week. You’ll get to weight where you feel fatigue in the first set or two. That’s what you want. Then reduce to remain comfortable as needed.

Same applies for sets. I personally have never had an injury from hanging too many sets aside from skin soreness, but it’d probably be a good idea to slowly work your way up in this respect, too. Obviously do not go from 3 sets a day to 30. maybe 3 for a few days, then 5, then 6… until you reach your available privacy time.

And on a similar note: if we take a step back and remember what we’re doing, that is, deforming body parts, it miiiight be a little bit unreasonable to think we’re going to do it without any injury whatsoever our entire career. Hey, it happens. I’ve suffered through numerous hanging related injuries. I’ve always kept hanging through them, possibly at a reduced weight, and when I got over the injury, I hadn’t lost progress. Manual stretches might also be something to consider in your situation.

I’ll take a time-lapse video if you’d like, haha.

I wake up, strap on, take my online classes, next thing I know it’s 6pm, I’ll hit the bar or something, come back after 3 or 4 hours, strap on, go to bed, wake up rinse and repeat.

It can be done..

Sure.

Thinking about it I believe I may have gone up to fast in weight, although I wasn’t feeling fatigue in the first few sets so I felt that increasing weight was necessary. Once I increased to 17 1/2 lbs is when I eventually injured myself. When I do resume I’ll go back to 12 1/2 lbs or 10 lbs to start and work my way back.
