Switching Angles of Attack

Began hanging about 7 weeks ago 3 lbs x 3 sets BTC and began feeling a soreness in fat pad above shaft all the way down to the pubic bone around 5 lbs 5 sets on week 4.

At this point I switched to hanging SO for four sets at 5 lbs and 1 set BTC; obviously at a lower weight.

Currently at 7 pounds for 5 sets and fat pad is no longer sore. I want to switch back to BTC, but should I still hang one set SO or do the principles of never letting yourself heal only apply to the ligaments?

Thanks. Any advice appreciated.

Note: I’ve noticed gains with both angles

Angles are a hangers secret to great gains without having to increase weight. Are you doing SO while standing or sitting?

Sitting.

I feel like it makes sense, but just doesn’t line up. I’ve read that a lot of people only attack one angle at a time.

Yet we typically see gains in the newbie routine and there is stretching in all angles, and essentially hanging is just stretching with MUCH more force, right?

So wouldn’t it make sense to mix almost all angles in a day if I saw great gains from newbie routine?

Are you suggesting hanging straight out for a week, and then switch to OTS than OTL the following weeks keeping the same weight?

You need to get your ligs fully stretched out, which BTC and SO will do effectively before you go on to OTS and OTL as those angels attack and stretches your tunica and it’s much harder getting tunica gains as well. So to sum up stay with BTC and SO for now. If you need some more specifics on hanging I would recommend visiting bibhanger.com, in the forum section you will find loads of info on hanging. Good luck and be patient, hanging is quite time consuming so get comfortable with it.

This is my perspective on angles. The ligaments are built to withstand straight out pulling. When you look at the physiology of the ligs attachment to the pelvis you can see that there is a lot of structure that connects those ligs to the pelvis bone. What angles accomplish is the divide and concur approach. Bib talks about this also. If you stretch the ligs at an angle to there attachment you effectively weaken the ligament on one side, now stretch in the opposite direction and weaken the other side. Now when you do SO stretching your going to be able to stretch the center support of the lig easier because the sides are not as fully in play so the straight out position gives easier.

Your accomplishing a little of this when you do SO and then BTC. But one thing I would encourage you to do is do both in the same day so your taking advantage of the weakening. If you were to do SU you would be at an even a better condition for SU or BTC to be more effective.

Disregard last post, I am on my 4/5 set switching BTC and SO and I find myself not hitting fatigue like I would hanging all BTC. Any comment?

If your doing BTC then SO wouldn’t be of any benefit.

Agree with vikingwhore, BIB says he hung BTC for the first 18 months of the 24 months he hung for gains. Getting the BTC angle right is imperative.

I’m sorry I meant SD won’t be of any benefit.
