Stretch hanging

Any one besides me apply more pressure in little jai bursts while hanging. I apply the extra stretch in directions where I seem to sense a little resistance to the stretching process. It seems to give some breakthroughs in lig stretch.

Ohh know, I loved doing that often when I was hanging. Be careful with it, it eliminates the oppurtunity to correct a mistake before it too late. I loved “swinging” also.

OK I give, what is a “jai” burst?

Jai would indicate a less than two second stretch—to eliminate the body’s tendency to pull back in muscular contraction. I only meant that the increase of pressure in addition to the weight of hanging would be in short bursts.

Monty, there is a video on JAI stretches - “Johans AI”, AI being used by physical therapists, runners, athletes etc. Theory is that if you stretch at a force lower than causing the body to automatically retract (this is how I understood it), it is very effective. And it was for Johan.

Thanks guys for the info. Very interesting stuff, but I wonder if the jai’s are responsible for the gains because when I find resistance to stretching I will also apply a sporadic higher stress level to break up the ligs and then immediately back off to normal levels. Unlike jai where the stress is applied in a repetitive sequence. I fully believe that now and then (not all the time) we need to exceed the normal hanging stress that we tend to get used to. Sometimes I feel that’s the only way to reach fatigue.

We’d have to ask ModestoMan or Westla for input on this, but if the the PC muscles are part of the inner shaft (and at least they do attach to it) then MAYBE stretching the PCs (=JAI stretches) will allow to pull out the inner shaft a tad. For straight out and straight up, the suspensory ligs are not a limiting factor, no?
