You mean while in use? Or when not in use? In use, close and lock the door. Not in use, there are many ways within this forum. A simple short rope extension is probably the easiest. An eye-bolt and pulley in the ceiling is not very noticeable. Depends on your situation.

Maybe a pulley on a bar that will clamp to the back rest of a chair allowing quick disconnect for closet storage… OR… my golf bag strap idea from another thread.
