Rethinking the Bib Hanger

My Wench is not coming apart with 17.6 pounds. Maybe you need to use a stronger clamp.

Well, it doesn’t actually come apart in pieces; it’s just that the adhesive is starting to slip. It’s still usable. More importantly, it wasn’t really comfortable above 15#, and I noticed some discoloration forming. In other words, the general effectiveness of the hanger started to fall off for me over 15#, and it was worthwhile to try something different.

It takes a lot of patience and systematic effort to find something that works, assuming it’s possible for anything to work. Make sure you don’t rush it, and good luck.

MM, I agree that the wrapping for a Bib hanger is critical. I haven’t experimented as much with the / \ and / \ settings as I need to. Right now, I’m back to using the Starter and have hung 20 pounds with little discomfort, but as bud_do mentioned, it needs to be really tight. Earlier with the Bib Regular, I was using 30+ pounds but not without considerable trauma to the “donut” area below my glans, which is not as bad with the Starter (at a lower weight, of course). At this point, I’m not sure that hanging 30 pounds twice a day with the Bib Regular is any more or less beneficial than hanging 20 pounds three times a day with the Starter.

I’m hoping to experiment with bunching up the wrap in front of the hanger (using rolled up HTWs or something else) as a way to avoid having to tighten the hanger so much with heavy weights.

I believe the goal is to prevent the hanger from sliding forward. This may be achievable with right wrap/stopper arrangement. You may have heard me say before that hangers don’t really “grip the internals.” The skin slides too easily. Nothing short of a stud through your cock can do that.

The next best thing, I believe, is to figure out a way of wrapping that keeps the hanger back. I’ve been kicking around some ideas of using silicone tubing over my dick in front of the hanger. The thickness of the tubing would be small near the hanger but increase as it moved farther toward the glans. When weight is applied, the hanger would slide forward, but would have to climb the ramp of silicone to slide to the glans.

I hope to get to try this out in a few weeks.

MM, looking forward to the results of your new experiments. Where would you get the silicon tubing?

Hank (WannaB9x7)

Currently from Monkeybar, as part of his Vacu-Hanger. I may try a variety of things, however.

Thanks MM. I was intending to order a Vacu-Hanger soon anyway, so I will try the silicon tubing to prevent the hanger from sliding forward, as you described earlier .

How much does heat play a part in this?

Are you warming up pre-hang and keeping warm during the hang?

This just seems to make boatloads of sense, in my humble opinion.

What’s your take?

Before: I'd like to show you something I'm very proud of, but you'll have to move real close.

After: I\'d like to show you something I\'m very proud of, but you guys in the front row will have to stand back.

MM, you asked if gains had stopped. I did my hanging in 2002-3 and haven’t hung since. Do manual stretches btc couple times a week and still maintain 7.8” X 5.8”. My LOT is 7-8 so theoretically I have ligs stretch available. Have been clamping for a year with no measureable gain. My guess is that I have hit my max and further work will yield very slow gains if any.

If you’re directing this at me, I’ve always used heat. Mostly I’ve used a rice sock, but I’ve also occasionally used an IR lamp or a wet washcloth. I went through long periods when I used a great deal of heat but never gained. So I don’t think that heat is the “holy grail.” On the other hand, I think it helps to get a good stretch and makes hanging much more comfortable.

I remember numerous times hanging with my Bib Hanger when I would feel groovy as long as the rice sock was on. But, once I removed it, the discomfort and pain would quickly set in.

I generally use my rice sock for at least the first 10 minutes of my first hanging sets of any workout day. I remove it near the end of the set. As the day wears on, I sometimes toss the rice sock and hang without it.

There have been lots of discussions about heat. Most of them took place a year or two ago. I recall that Shiver, Penismith, and Sparkyx tried a lot of things and posted about them. Hobby also started an excellent thread about connective tissue, where he cited a paper saying that collagen stretched much more easily above 104 deg-F. From that point on, the goal of various heating techniques was to hit or exceed that magic number.

My personal opinion is that heat really helps make the tissues more amenable to stretching in the short term, but I’m not sure whether it is effective at promoting growth of an entire penis in the long term. It certainly can’t hurt, however.

Nothing visible changed in the pictures on his site. Do you know what exactly he changed?
