Prevent blisters wIth vac-hanging

I use the micro foam tape from 3m to cover my glans. So you’re saying this silicon sleeve filled with fissan baby powder would replace the micro foam tape?

I’m hanging 10lbs with a vac extender 4 without blisters so far (knock on wood) for 30 minute sessions. I try to get 4 in a day but it varies. I’ll probably switch to the vac hanger 3 once I work through my two remaining sealing sleeves.

Really great idea. Will try it too.

How much do you fill the cap with the powder?
Just covering the glans or like allowing no room?

This looks like a great idea. Will certainly try it.

What puzzles me why the powder would make a difference? The only thing I can think of is a mechanical explanation. Perhaps the powder makes it easier for the silicone cap to slide over the glans minimising an air gap so once fitted so the cap works like the vacuum tape that monkeybar recommends for the vacextender. If there is absolutely no air gap between the glans and the cap, the cap should work like and extra layer of skin even under vacuum.

Any other thoughts?

Quite awhile ago I read of concerns that talc might be implicated in developing cellular changes associated with cancer or precancerous changes in tissue. While I don’t think I would be concerned about the application of it here, I have heard of some guys using it as an aid to masturbation. In that type of scenario where it would really get worked into the skin, I think not a good idea. But as I said, it was a long time ago and I never verified the reports.

Ecto, I also remember issues with talc but the baby powder used these days is essentially corn starch which should not be a problem. Talc is a powdered rock.

Its non irritant and rather good for the skin.
It also takes in wetness from the skin. It could help with the accumulation/absorption of edema,

And your mechanical explanations makes very much sense. The powder will get into the small pockets thus avoiding air to fill it.

I order a size L toe cap today hope to have it tomorrow already.

I will try some stuff with silicone sleeves under and over the cap to seal it.

I am going to give this a try. I have just been using either the 3M tape or a glans cap with my VH3 and have been good at 8 lbs but when I went up to 10 lbs I had small blisters. I plan to try using water with it soon also.

In the morning I’ve done a three-hour session of vac-hanging starting with 2kg and increasing 0,5kg each ten minuts to 4,5kg.
I’ve removed the vac only two times after one hour and two hour just a minute to check and massage the glans.
This evening I’ve done three 20 min. sets of pumping at 5 hg.
My glans is perfect!
I think baby powder is miracolous.
In the past with less traction and time I had blisters.

Today very hard training, I think tomorrow I’ll have to rest!

It’s been a couple of months.. Can any of those that tried this idea let the rest of us know how well it worked?

I am using it with a silicone glans protector while water pumping for 60 mins dynamically in the range 4 - 14” Hg and it really seems to work. No blisters or any suggestion of one.

Thus the skin doesnt stretch/pop cause of the water pushing it.
Will try it also with the vac hanger once I get one.

We need to get a better understanding of why the powder works. Don’t believe it is related to the water in the cylinder as the glans protector ensures a barrier between the glans and the water. What I found is that it is easier to get a tight fit and less chance of an air pocket under the protector. I suspect that under high vacuum a blister is more likely to form if an air pocket forms. Certainly the case with the vacextender and why monkeybar recommends the vacuum tape.

I related the powder to the water forming from inside the body. Water forming near the top dermal layer is absorbed.
A blister happens cause the thin last skin layer buckles down on the water pushing the boundaries towards air.
Im pretty sure the powder influences this last layer dryiing it. Thats the function of baby powder..

“Baby powder, also referred to as talcum powder if talc is the primary ingredient, is traditionally used to prevent diaper rash and as a deodorant for babies. Despite this, baby powder is often applied to the skin because of its naturally ability to dry out the skin and reduce natural oils from excreting out of your body. Baby powder does not clog pores, rather, it helps to reduce acne and pimples by drying them out

http://www.livestrong.com/article/5…-clogged-pores/

It doesnt clogg the pores(which would aggrevate the problem and inside out pressure on the skin)but draws wetness out of the skin pores into the powder.

I concur the outside pressure “deflection” is still the most important part. Compressing the skin and allowing no negative space right at the skin.
Thats the no1 reason why it works cause with as you say a fitting silicone, or also taping, no blister happpens cause of the even constrictive pressure from outside.

The powder is just perfect for our task in combination with a silicone sleeve. Working on two fronts at least I think.

Thanks for the update. I ordered a couple glans protector sleeves, and will try it out on my vac hanger when they arrive.

Thanks for this explanation. Makes sense.

The silicone caps I ordered on ebay came in the other day. I tried them and they work better than the tape. It seems that there are 3 benefits:

(1) it compresses the glans and enables me to fit better inside the vac extender / vac hanger endcaps that monkey bar sells.
(2) it seals the urethra well, reducing fluid buildup. The tape loses adhesion, and the fluid leaks out.
(3) the silicone cushions the glans’ sensitive skin, reducing chafing and enabling me to do longer sets.

I found them on eBay for about $1 each plus shipping. I found them by searching for “silicone toe cap”. They come in different sizes, and you (of course) want the one for the big toe.
