OTS Hanging

I’m not sure what system most of you use for OTS hanging…but I just had some inspiration. I took one my leather guitar straps and put a carabiner through one of the holes that would latch to the guitar button. To the other strap whole, I hooked the S hook of my Bib, and voila, a very comfortable OTS hanging system. It needs a T shirt to be worn so the leather can glide more easily across my shoulder when needed. I can’t imagine anything being simpler or more comfortable.

That’s a pretty damn good idea. I don’t hang OTS right now, but when I first started I bought everything I would need to hang at any angle. I found one of those plastic coated metal ropes like you would use to lock a bike up. It is flexible and has a loop at both ends. But I could see a leather guitar strap, or even just a leather belt, working even better.

Do you get a lot of friction where it goes over the shoulder even in a t-shirt?

Well with this particular strap, there’s a side that’s rougher that’s designed to be against your shirt/skin, to keep your guitar from slipping around. However, you can turn it over and the top side is much smoother. It’s nice to have options :)

Word, that sounds perfect. Is the smooth side about as smooth as a smooth leather belt?

I’d say yes…it’s just a tad bit less smooth than my lambskin leather jacket. That’s probably due to age though as this particular strap is several years old. I could oil it up and it would be super smooth.

Gotcha, well good looking out. Whenever I start hanging OTS I’ll give something like this a whirl.

I’ve read somewhere that SU (or OTS) stretches/hanging are the least effective angles for gain unless you add some fulcrum at the base. This maybe true for me because when I did my SU stretch and SD stretch, I touched the dorsal area of the penis, I could feel a better stretch with the SD angle, I don’t know, I’m probably wrong.

overdoseads, I don’t think that you are wrong necessarily. It is my understanding that the OTS and SU angles are primarily use to stretch the ligament bundles binding the penis to the pelvic floor. This is theoretically supposed to cause an upward shift in the penile exit point allowing you to make more quick gains going SD or BTC again. I have no idea if this process works or not, I have not tried it and, to be honest, the anatomical theory seems a bit wonky. Maybe one day I will try it, but I am still hanging BTC and making gains, and from here I plan to go SO, and then SO with a fulcrum.

Honestly I don’t know much about the theory…I just wanted to mix it up and give my lower back a break from all the BTC!

Dude my lower back kills after 3 hours of BTC! I do it on this little bar stool with a seat back. I basically am in a crunch position the whole time with my butt off the edge. I’m 6’3” and 260 doing crunches on a 12” wide bar stool with my feet on a rotating office chair. I’ll bet it looks way too goofy!

Have you tried putting an extra firm pillow behind your lower back? I do that occasionally. I think I need to rig something under my desk to all me to hang SO and be a little more comfortable.

I do that, yes. Still after 3 hours my back is starting to kill.

Yeah, I can’t do 3 hours straight…I break mine up into morning/evening. I wear some of Monty’s PE weights during the day. I’m hoping this strategy produces some results.

I am just about to buy some of those weights. I do morning and evening when I have the time, I feel it’s more productive. Keep hanging, sounds like you’re going about things the right way.

If you’re going to get some of Monty’s weights, I’d recommend getting 4. I use 3 currently, but I have a feeling I’ll be wanting to add a 4th in the future. Might as well just get all 4 at once and save on shipping.
