OTS and OTL Hanging

OTS and OTL Hanging

When hanging OTS or OTL do you have to have more weight than when you hang SD?

I think it has more to do with your set up, the hanger your using and at what angle your attacking. The idea is to use the amount of weight at which you can complete 3 or more sets and reach fatique. Too much weight and the sets are cut too short, not enough weight and you don’t reach fatique. Try to stay at one angle like SD or BTC until gains stop before moving to the upper angles.

This is a little off topic but… One full year at Thunder’s SNM! Way to go!! Keep it up.

Thanks for the advise. The only thing I was wondering on the OTS and OTL was because I have a low LOT and looking at what I have been reading is that I should pull more upwards?

I tried the OTS hanging with a BIB and got too much bruising. I have taken some time off and plan to start back hanging BTC soon. The OTS hanging with a BIB Hanger was just too much for me. Others have had better luck and I’ve heard that the Winch works better for upper angle hanging also. I’ve never tried it myself.

I hung BTC until my gains stopped for over a month then went to the upper angles. I had great results with BTC and that is what I’m going back to. The trick is time and not weight. Do not change angles till the gains stop for atleast a month. If you spend the time the gains will come I assure you. Good luck.

I have been experimenting with 1 set straight down, 1 set OTL Right, 1 Set OTL Left. (20 minute sets) I do feel fatigue and soreness on left side of my base. But no where else. Should I discontinue with splitting it three ways?

I continued to feel fatigue at straight down with 3 lbs. (Soreness at the base)
But, I began to feel worried about injury. Although the soreness goes away after a day or two. But, I became gun shy at continuing in one direction for three sets, although it appears I’ve made some slight gains.

I think the best attack is to only work at one angle and get all the gains you can before moving to a different angle. Depending on your LOT, pick a primary angle and then maybe a secondary angle if you wish but don’t work lower and upper together. For instance, hang BTC or SD as a primary (lower angles) and SO as a secondary. Hang OTS as a primary (upper angles) and SO as a secondary. I got great gains from hanging BTC doing 3-20 min sets 6 days a week.

The fatique feeling your feeling is what your looking for. The soreness at the base is the ligs and this soreness is what you want to “ride out”. The weight doesn’t really matter as much so if you feel like you need to drop back to complete the sets, it’s ok. Hanging with only 3 lbs is not much and give it a few weeks to get use to hanging. I started seeing gains when I got up to 7 lbs.

Thanks SNM.
