My first attempt at making a "BIB" hanger

My first attempt at making a "BIB" hanger

It was a slow afternoon at work, no one else around, being the friday before a long weekend so I thought it was time to try building a BIB hanger. I realizing it would probably be the first of many, I didn’t try too hard to make it look pretty. After reading many of the homemade BIB hanger threads, I settled on 1-1/4 schedule 40 PVC pipe. Two pieces ~ 1.75” long were cut and split, on one side, lengthwise. They were heated in an 325 F oven for ~15 min, until pliable. After several very interesting attempts, I came to try clamping them around a round mandrel, a deep well socket wrench. That seemed to work, but the “U’s” seem to be deeper than most of the other home built pictures. We will see. I drilled the holes, contoured the flanges and, most importantly, rounded all the edges. The final pictures show the pieces with most of the hardware. I must still apply the silicone rubber beads inside, attach the strap and get some 8-32 self locking nuts for the bottom bolt and the strap bolts.

Remembering that this is a “quick and dirty” one to test the idea, I would appreciate all opinions and feed back.

Sail,

If that is quick and dirty, I can’t wait to see the final version!

Very nice job you have done there. You are right when you say the wells seem to be a bit deep, but I guess you won’t know for sure until you try it. Besides, If they are deep you can always “pad” them out a little more so the inside is not as deep.

Good job. Be sure to post a finished picture.

You know what they say, necessity is the mother of invention. Good job so far! I am sure you will finish it off as good as you have started. Maybe you can have a Memorial Day hangin.

Sailboatracer, I have to say your hanger does look pretty slick however I’m not so sure it will work (yet). It does resemble a BIB’s outside pretty close but more important of the BIB is the inside.

The inside of the BIB is kinda flattish and has thumbs to get a grip on the innershaft also the front edges are able to be supported by the shoulders of the glans. Maybe you could improve your hanger with padding to make it resemble the inside of a BIB more.

Btw that PVC looks mighty thick, I would like to get some of that. How thick is it exactly?

Thanks for the complements, my “real” job is designing and building scientific research equipment, so I guess I have some background in that sort of thing. We often don’t know exactly what is needed for a scientific experiment and quick “mock-ups” are the first steps to test new ideas, they don’t need to be pretty, just prove the concept.

Piet, I agree with your comments re: BIB’s design and with deference to BIB the master, I was working with the concepts and subjective “feelings” from gripping my flaccid shaft with my fingers, not very scientific but what precisely, is, the cross-section of a compressed flaccid, penis? I think I had a moment of confusion while I was trying to get the hot PVC to stay in the desired shape as it cooled and momentarily lost the mental image of BIB’s design. The beauty of the PVC is, that I can reheat it and the natural tendency of the PVC will be to “relax” and try to return to a shallower curve. The PVC was standard “Schedule 40”, nominal 1.25” size pipe, the U.S. standard PVC pipe for domestic water plumbing, while I don’t have the dimensional tables here at home, my recollection was that the thickness is about 0.140”. If you look closely in the right hand side background of the picture “cooling in the vise” you will see a “spare” piece of the pipe which was split and heated with the others.

I am at a loss to understand your comment about BIB’s having “thumbs”, sometimes any of us miss the obvious, please explain. My “plan” has always been to line the inner surfaces with silicone rubber ribs, probably about .375” high, or deep depending on your perspective, based upon the fit. I expect to try a couple different rib geometries as I put it to the test. I seem to recollect BIB making the point that the hanger should not contact or apply pressure on the glans.
While I have historically both hung and manually stretched, with considerable pressure on my glans, with no noticeable damage, I was aiming to put the tension on the Corpus Cavernosa only.

Cool Shit. Keep experimenting.

-Still bitter the y2k bug was a dud.

-My dear boy, do you ask a fish how it swims? (No.) Or a bird how it flies? (No.) Of course not. They do it because they were born to do it...

I think by thumbs Piet means inner ridges, same as you’re planning. He screwed tubing to the inside to serve the same purpose. Check out his hanger thread here.

Bib wrote in that thread:

When I built my first prototypes, about a hundred of them, I would use three layers of heavy schedule PVC so that there would be no bending whatsoever. Just as you want the two halves to be static, so also do you want no bending whatsoever in the plastic to keep your shaft from flowing through.

Good advice, IMO. Two or three layers would be better than one.

Your molded half-circles are way too severe. A slight oval shape would be ok if the hanger is extremely rigid, but yours isn’t. A single layer of schedule 40 pipe with completely flat sides will bend from || to more of a () when tightened.

FWIW, the inside gripping portions of production Bibs don’t have a concave shape. They are flat. Personally, I think a slight curvature would be an improvement and may help prevent twisting.

Nice work though. 325 is probably a better temp for softening this stuff than the 400+ I used. Mine got a little brown in places. :)

I suggest you try 2-3 layers of schedule 40 on each side. Keep the sides very close to flat to begin with. You can reheat and add in more curve later if desired.

This hanger is at least a step behind Piet’s. The cross-section of a compressed flaccid penis is only around a half inch!

Check out Piet’s shallower curve and just copy his hanger. It will save you lots of time.

Thanks for the comments, I am not to proud to listen to constructive criticism, so I reheated the PVC while getting ready to apply the silicone RTV (rubber). I think lost sight of the big picture when I started to try to get the screw flanges perfectly flat and parallel. Now back on track I will keep the updates coming, and hope to try it this weekend when the RTV has cured.

Thanks again

for sell?

Will you be making these available for those who wish to buy? I don’t have your skills! How much? How soon? Thanks

rodo,

You’ve been a member here since July. Have you tried making the CCH3 or the Captn’s Wench?

not yet I

I haven’t seen a lot of tools that look easy to use or comfortable. I think what I would like is something I could apply to my leg that would pull as I walk, avoiding the tendon ligament rebound effect. I was thinking about using the bib (junior version) for this but I’m just not sure yet what will work the best. Thanks.
