Ligs Are Very Sore, What Does This Mean?

I have been hanging 3-4 days on, 1 day off. Hanging seated, 12.5 lbs., for 2 sets of 20 minutes. It’s basically all that I have had time for with school and work, etc.

I feel like I am not really gaining at all hanging this way, all I am noticing is some extreme lig soreness, on the top of my shaft.

Any extreme soreness is not good.

I’ve had soreness on the sides, and on the front panel of my lower abs, but not on the top of the shaft.

What are you hanging with? And are you staying back an inch or so from the head?

Maybe your doing too much weight. You might want to try less weight and more sets.
I’m no hanging expert as I’m just about to start hanging, but from everything I’ve read it’s this:
The idea behind hanging is lighter weight over time to encourage growth and permanent stretching.

Maybe you can get up earlier or go to bed later to find more time.

Yeah I would have to ask the question also, how long have you been hanging and is this a new condition? Extreme lig soreness can mean that you are on the hairy edge of tearing a lig or could mean that your just achieving max fatigue. You might be hanging to heavy. Your best bet would be to back off and hang lighter, even going to golf weights in between sessions. Remember time and stress can’t be substituted with extreme heavy weights if you get in to big a hurry you could cause yourself consequences that you won’t like. Think of your ligs like a seat-belt in a car if you pull slow and lightly it comes out of the holder, but if you pull hard or fast then the cam kicks in and it locks up. I think many guys actually slow their gains by trying to hang to much weight.
