I need some input.

I am currently doing a routine that has a lot of hanging.
Things have gone pretty well and now I have a question to those of ya’ll that primarily hang.

In a couple of months I have a vacation scheduled and will not be hanging for 8-9 days. My issue is, by that time I will be hanging in the 18-20 pound range and fear that stopping things cold turkey could lead to results I don’t want.
My thinking is, maybe I should take the week before the vacation and do my sets with dropped weight. 15, 13, 11 pounds and then go on vacation.

Thoughts?

Hey Mike, I’m not hanging as much as you so don’t take what I say as if it’s written in stone. If it were me I’d either take it as a decon or stretch every chance I got. I wouldn’t however drop the weight I’d leave it be. Enjoy your vacation brother. PE revolves around my life my life no longer revolves around it. I hope in someway that helps.

I have not done enough hanging to be learned here. So I’ll just give my opinion based on my experience.

If you’re at a heavy weight you’ll lose some of that endurance over your time off. That’s a given. Hanging heavy requires unbroken hanging cycles. But…

Assuming you break it you’ll lose some conditioning but since you aren’t injured shouldn’t experience much tissue retraction. Most hanging decon breaks are injury driven and usually counterproductive in the long run as a result. And I think that’s where you get your impression that taking a break is super bad.

Theory says you could be giving ligament time to toughen but….I simply doubt this. Ligaments don’t reach an unchangeable state and gains don’t just stop like that. You may take more time to get back in your stride but I see no reason you would go back to the start point.

I was looking at the calendar at the upcoming vacation and was worried about stopping ‘cold turkey.’
I know I will need to ease back into things dropping 5-7 pounds and work my way back after the vacation.
