I have started hanging after doing the Newbie routine for 2 months. I started with 2 lbs, moved to 4 and am now at 5 lbs. I’m doing 3 sets of 20 minutes, with 10 minute breaks. I’ve used an IR lamp for a warmup but have switched to using it during my hanging sessions. I’ve read where a cooldown in the elongated state could prove to be beneficial in the long run. Does anyone see a problem doing that after a session, by hanging golf weights and applying an ice pack, not directly to the skin of course.

This actually sounds very interesting! I do my warm up in the shower every morning - as hot as I can stand. During that heating phase I perform manual stretches. After the shower I wrap with an ACE bandage until I put on my ADS. I wear the ADS for about 9-10 hours a day. I have noticed that between the stretches and the ADS there is still a considerable amount of retraction in the wrap.

Your “experiment” may prove to eliminate some of that retraction after the stress of the weight is removed. If you use heat during your hanging sets and then allow one set of “cool down” under tension so that the ligs remain stretched as they are allowed to cool down, in theory, you should notice a significantly longer flaccid length. This would be true if the effect of the heat was to relax the ligs and allow for a greater plastic deformation under stress.

Instead of golf weights, why don’t you add a hanging session or use your last set as a “cool down” set for a specified amount of time (weeks) and see if your flaccid length does not improve. This could be a very interesting study, and I would be very interested in finding out how it goes. I would do it myself, but I have another experiment of my own already planned for January 1st through March 1st. I guess I’ll have to try this one next.

All I ever read about is heat, heat, heat. When my sunglasses don’t fit right, I heat an area with a lighter, bend them and run them under cold water to set. I’m going to take the last 5 minutes of a 20 minute set and throw an icepack on to see what happens. I want to see a penis turtle under hanging conditions. Not gonna happen. Hey where did my balls go?

I just finished my 2nd hang today with three 20 minute sets. I forgot about the ice pack so I hung for an extra 5 minutes BTC with the ice pack at my fatpad and a little lower. I could feel my ligs contracting but going nowhere. When I took the weight off, I’m just staring at my penis like what’s different here? It was long, thinner and of course cold. It was hanging rather nicely. I didn’t have any feeling in my glans. Totally numb. I quickly removed the wrap and everything is normal again. I will be doing this on every last set, but I don’t measure all the time so…..

Could someone else give this a try to see what you think? Could it be cold fatiguing of the ligs working against their own force? Come on scientists, let’s hear it.
