how many hours per week to hang?

i have been hanging 1 hour every other day with 5 pounds do you guys think this is enough to make gains cause ive heard not to move up in weight till you stop making gains with that amount of weight. so1 hour every other day = 4 hours a week and i hear guys say the hang six days a week and 10 hours so do you think that i am doing enough (have had no gains yet after 1 month of hanging) and please dont write and tell me it is different from person to person i know that every one is different when it comes to gains but i have had no gains with this and would like to keep trying till i start to gain

5-10 hot wrap
2 sets of 30 min hang with 5 pounds
20 min jelq 5 min uli
and i do this every other day

5lbs is an excellent place to start. At this weight you can safely perfect your wrapping and hanger attatchment techniques which is very important ground work and it is absolutely essential that you master these before moving on to higher weights. However, as far as gains are concerned, you are probably going to have to hang for very long sets to see much benefit. One of the keys to hanging is fatigue. Hanging low weights will fatigue your penis and ligs but it may take as long as 2 or 3 hours. Slightly heavier weights however, may give you the same degree of fatigue in as little as 15 - 20 minutes. Get my drift?

The next step is to determine what is the right weight for you. A general indication is …. if you can hang your current weight BTC, for 3 sets (1 hour) both AM and PM, for 4 consecutive days without feeling a good degree of fatigue, then it’s probably time to consider moving up in weight. Resist the temptation to move up quickly - this is counterproductive and can lead to injury. Fully evaluate each new weight for at least a week (4-5 consecutive days) - while you initially may feel that your weight is too light, on the second day in the second 20 minute set it may be an entirely different story! On the third day you may be very glad you stuck to the lighter weight! Initially aim for 1 hour hang-time per day (3 X 20 minute sets) and start by hanging straight out then gradually work up to BTC. As you grow used to the weight you can gradually increase the amount of sets. Six sets per day is enough for me (2 hours hang-time). You may also like to help cement your work with a traction wrap afterwards for an hour or 2.

I’m a firm believer that a consecutive days workout is more productive than a day on, day off routine - you progressively build on the previous day’s work so reaching the optimum fatigued state is much quicker and easier.

It sounds like a good all-round routine …. but, in the long term it may not be the most efficient for substantial gains. I guess it all boils down to what your goals are and how much you want to gain. If your after 1” - 1.5” length gains then if you stick with this routine you may have a very good chance of achieving that goal. If you’re after 2”+ then I don’t think this is the optimum routine. Hanging and stretching without other exersizes would probably be a more successful option.

OK, let’s look at your routine.

Firstly, if you are going to jelq or do uli’s, do them after you have hung.

Secondly, IMO, uli’s may slow down your length gains. Uli’s are a girth exersize and it’s easier to stretch something that’s thinner rather than thicker. I’d leave out the uli’s for the moment and concentrate on those once you have achieved the length you want.

Thirdly, jelqing. This will also add some girth as well as length. Once again it really depends on how much you want to gain. It’s a great exersize for gains and overall penis health. Also, incorporating a small amount of light jelqing after hanging can be very beneficial. But, if you have a good hang you may find that 20 mins of strong jelqing may be way too much - be careful! The tissue of your penis will probably be quite stressed after hanging and strong jelqing may rupture some of the weakened blood vessels which may leak into the urethra or cause bruises - this would be counterproductive and would require you to take at least a week off! Take your jelqing very easy after hanging.

Fourthly, hanging. One hour hang-time is excellent - that sould be all you need. BTC is a very intense position so work up to it gradually.

Two days on, one off is better than alternate days. But try and aim for 3 days on, one off - I think you’ll see better results.

Also, try adding a few random stretches - when you go to pee, while you’re in bed - whenever it’s convenient. Every little bit helps!

i know most of yall think not to go for girth gains cause its

easier to stretch something thin then something thick then once

you get your length you want then go for girth

but my girth is under 5 in. when i get to 5 in. i will stop the girth exercises


consecutive days

Lil, on your first post here you mentioned 3 consecutive days for hanging then in your last post you said 4 consecutive days to hang. I’m a bit confused, which routine gives faster results? Thanks.


i hope jelqing before hanging will not cause too much problems 4 u……

i do not jelq before i hang it just looks that way when i wrote it down


Good advice

I have to go along with LIL. I started very low and resisted the urge to jump up too high too soon. I was a newbie to hanging, and with gradual increases I learnt a lot about wrapping, positioning etc, and although I have a lot to learn, that groundwork has made hanging heavyish weights (currently 14.5lbs) a breeze.

of course, if there is no soreness, no feeling of stretching, you must move up. I am one of those who believe heavier weights = more gain and to hang at your max ASAP BUT WITH UTMOST CARE.

Do not rush to your max but experiment little by little. I increased 1/2 kg at a time, after perhaps 3-4 days at each weight (initially I went 2 weeks with each weight).

DO NOT RISK AN INJURY. You will lose valuable hang time.

Remember also that you must stretch the skin to accomodate extra length. This is not an overnight process either.

right now i am at 7.5 lbs with 6 hours of hang time at this weight btc i plan on moving up in weight(2.5 lbs) every 2 weeks so that means i get 12 hours of hang time with each weight



Hanging isn’t a weight lifting contest. Do a search on “fatigue” and read all you can. If there is something you don’t understand about this, post and one of the hanger’s will be glad to help with your questions.

thunder thats just what i plan on doing i will continue to move up till i feel like its time to stop and say there for a while

You are welcome. Lately I find that I don’t have as much time as I used to. I used to try to make it a habit to welcome all the newbies and try to get them used to posting and feeling comfortable here. Kinda miss that. :)
