Head of the penis turns blue while hanging

Hi there

I have been a long time lurker on this site. I have tried hanging for a while but couldn’t keep up with the routine due to a new job. Now I have my life back in order and I am back at hanging. Is it normal to have the head of the penis turn blue and cold while hanging?

Yes, but as an indicator that you should stop. Immediately.

Previously I was hanging for about a month and I had this problem back then also. But never paid much attention. Now I am beginning to think my hanging and wrapping methods are somewhat wrong. Then again I don’t really know how else could I wrap my penis.

My routine is like this:
10 minute warm up with a hot towel
10 minute hanging
5 minute break
10 minute hanging
5 minute break
10 minute hanging
10 minute warm down with a hot towel

I also do some jelqing in the shower after working out.

OK, I should probably disqualify myself from this dicussion, but:

1) I see no reason why this routine should cause the symptoms you say, unless given excessive weight; and
2) oh yeah, I don’t endorse hanging anymore, despite my success with it.

A few months ago, I revived and idea I worked on a few years ago, doing immediate pre- and post-exercise BPFSL measurements, noticing that some exercises led to immediate gains, and others to immediate losses. Any stretch over a second or so left me shorter, so I abandoned long, hard stretching.

So then I got to thinking this might be an interesting way to determine optimum weight. What I found, to my surprise, was that any amount of weight left me with a shorter BPFSL immediately afterward. So I abandoned weights (not that I was hanging anyway).

So I’m sticking with the 3-Step stretch routine, which always leaves me longer afterward. Doesn’t mean my theory is correct, but it’s what makes sense to me now.

Began December 2009 at 5 7/8" length and 5" girth.

As of December 5th 2012 7 3/8" BPEL and 6 1/8" base girth.

Going for the magic 8"x6"

I am sure that immediate shortening was probably occurring during the time you gained with hanging also Tom, but gain you did. Is it really a reliable marker of long term progress?

Hanging is always going to restrict circulation somewhat. So it’s normal for the glans to get cold and turn a darker color. If you end your set before the lack of circulation begins to cause tissue damage from lack of oxygen, then it’s normal and not a problem. Most guys go 15-20 minutes per set. I go 10 minutes to be safe. The better your technique, the better circulation you can have while hanging, and the better circulation you have during the set, the longer your set can be.

So you’ve got to learn to judge the circulation and stop your sets before it’s a problem. The darker and colder the glans gets, the worse the circulation. Generally when you remove the hanger and see an immediate return to normal color, that was a good set. If it takes longer than about 15 seconds to get a full return to normal color, then your set was probably too long.

I go on the safe side and hang 10 minute sets with 5 minute breaks rather than 20 minute sets with 10 minute breaks.

At 2.5 kg you should not tighten very much. What kind of hanger do you use?

might I add that it is not just the glans going blue but numbness and coldness in the glans.

I get this while extending also but not so much anymore when hanging strangely enough.

I think it could be down to wrapping technique/?

Just a quick bit of experience:

I’m new to hanging, I’ve only been doing it for a little under 3 weeks. As I’m hanging I’ll feel the tip of my penis every so often to make sure its not cold, I’ll take a look to make sure its not too dark etc.. etc..

You’re stretching it so theres going to be a change in blood flow, color change or some sort is to be expected. I try to monitor it pretty closely to make sure I’m healthy.

I’m using a Bib Starter btw and doing 20 min sets.

What really does work in your eyes?
Hanging?
Jelqing?
Clamping?
I don’t want to waste my time with something that doesn’t work. I’ve tried them all and it seems hanging might work. Clamping I thing just makes you swollen for several days giving you 1/2 inch of girth that’s temporary. Jelqing I don’t think works.

He isn’t going to be able to respond to you.

Hanging does work in his eyes. It is how he gained.

I am not saying it is better than other methods but it is one of the funny things about Tom. He is against it now but that is how he gained.
