say for example an individual wants to start hanging and they’ve never done PE before. They start off with something light, say 2.5lb, 3 x 10min sets. He says he’ll try this for a month and if he gets no gains he’ll up the weight to 5lbs. He tries 5lbs in the hope that the extra weight will cause him to gain, but he still doesn’t gain even with 5lbs. Now could it not be possible that during that first month of using 2.5lb that he has caused some dick toughening (or whatever scientific term we use nowadays), so when he does up his weight it has no effect. My point being that if we use too low a weight when we start hanging we could sabotage any future potential for gaining, and it’s just one long dick toughening exercise. How do we decide what weight to start with? What’s the general consensus?
