Rick Sock = My Favorite
Millia, I tried many different things, and nothing compares to a rice sock. Everything else didn’t stay hot enough long enough, got too hot, I couldn’t get it to the right temperature, or there were risks. Just based on my research, I decided against IR, and I tried clay packs, heating packs, whatever, but nothing worked as well as a rice sock.
I know a rice sock is simple and cheap but in my experience, nothing else works as well for me.
Why? I can only get a rice sock to the perfect hot temperature that doesn't burn me, but really brings out my veins and gets my unit hot and flexible, and heats it all the way through. (in my case, 2min 10 sec or 2min depending on the microwave—but that’s based on the size and thickness of my sock as well as the rice inside).
This is really a very personal preference thing; perhaps things that didn’t work for me work great for others. So this is just my opinion.
Rice Sock: Loses Heat Over Time (Not Ideal For Extended Periods)
To answer your question, I’ve heated myself with a rice sock while hanging at times. I guess it’s not the best solution then because eventually it does lose the heat. You could go with an IR lamp, but to me, it just doesn’t seem like a good idea to keep it on your unit for really extended periods.
I guess the short version is, I don’t have a good answer for you…
