Battery Heated Underwrap?

Battery Heated Underwrap?

So I bought a pair of heated socks off of Ebay. (Nordic Lectra something or another). And lo and behold, they don’t work worth a damn! Great, so my dream of having constant heat whilst hanging is out of reach for a little bit. Did some research and can’t really find anything that’s definitive that would provide what I’m looking for. Does anyone have any ideas as to what can be used as an underwrap to achieve what I’m looking for?

Rick Sock = My Favorite
Millia, I tried many different things, and nothing compares to a rice sock. Everything else didn’t stay hot enough long enough, got too hot, I couldn’t get it to the right temperature, or there were risks. Just based on my research, I decided against IR, and I tried clay packs, heating packs, whatever, but nothing worked as well as a rice sock.

I know a rice sock is simple and cheap but in my experience, nothing else works as well for me.

Why? I can only get a rice sock to the perfect hot temperature that doesn't burn me, but really brings out my veins and gets my unit hot and flexible, and heats it all the way through. (in my case, 2min 10 sec or 2min depending on the microwave—but that’s based on the size and thickness of my sock as well as the rice inside).

This is really a very personal preference thing; perhaps things that didn’t work for me work great for others. So this is just my opinion.

Rice Sock: Loses Heat Over Time (Not Ideal For Extended Periods)
To answer your question, I’ve heated myself with a rice sock while hanging at times. I guess it’s not the best solution then because eventually it does lose the heat. You could go with an IR lamp, but to me, it just doesn’t seem like a good idea to keep it on your unit for really extended periods.

I guess the short version is, I don’t have a good answer for you…

Yeah the rice sock is the best, but I wouldn’t really be able to use it while hanging because of my hangers design.. Which is why the heated sock would’ve been so perfect for it..

Hmmm…

It’s not battery powered and it doesn’t “wrap” around but “USB infrared pain relief pad”…

I found that interesting.

I have never had a good experience with any devices I’ve experimented with. If you actually try one of those out though, I would love to see your feedback. Right now I want to also experiment with constant heat.

I looked for the same thing a few years ago (the thread is here somewhere) without success. Well, without affordable success. My conclusion was the the only device that would do the job was a ski boot warmer, which is quite expensive and has a substantial battery.

Although I’ve taken an extended coffee break from hanging in recent months I was using a Thermotex Infrared Heating Pad for quite a while and it comes highly recommended. A wee bit costly mind, and I’m not sure it’ll suit your set-up, but…

Very cool, I’ve never even seen or heard of those before.

I use a plastic pill bottle 95.0g and it works well for me when hanging.Just put the hot water inside and enjoy.

The drawbacks are that I have to use my hand to keep it in place and I must re heat the water after the 20 min set.

Yeah, that’s called “Aladins Lamp” or something like that in the FAQ / Glossary.

I made one using molded silicone and a nicrome wire heating element out of a baby wipe warmer. It looks like heat tape but much softer and more pliable.

kiltya: are you willing to upload a picture? I want to see what the device looks like.

Good show Jawbone, I’m pretty sure they’re wholesellers but I’ll contact them for a quote and see if they do any end-user type deals. Thanks!

If you look at the thread I started on the Muzzle Hanger do you think that would work? Essentially I put two clamps on my units and I’m just worried that something like that may cause a wire to break after prolonged usage and the result of that being… Scary.. What do you think?
