Are My Ligs Tough? What to Do?

Gentlemen,

I’ve had the bibhanger for about 2 weeks now and have been using it nightly (missing here or there with the holiday season and all), hanging BTC with 5 lbs for 2 20minute sets. I’ve failed to ever feel “soreness” internally a.k.a. what I guess lig soreness would feel like. I was getting some soreness from skin stretch, but that’s leveling out now too. Does anyone think I’m maybe not getting the ligs and just stretching skin? The skin always gets tight into the fat pad while hanging— I don’t see how this could be avoided. I just never feel an internal pull that almost goes into my abs, as was described in one or more of the threads here. Does anyone think I may not be hitting the ligs? I think I am because I do feel some pull internally just above the penis in the pubic area.

I think I may have tough ligs, and if this is the case, will upping the weight (once I get accustomed to this level, of course) eventually pile enough pounds on to stretch the ligs, or should I maybe start targeting the tunica?

Has anyone else here in Thunders needed to work up to a fair amount of weight before getting any lig stretch and gotten nice results?

You need to put in more time in the hanger.
I try to do 800 - 1,000 minutes per week in the hanger.

Sounds like the skin is sharing the load with the ligs. That’s to be expected when you first start hanging BTC. The skin will stretch and the ligs will take more of the load.

More daily hang time should help too. Add sets before going up much in weight.

You don’t say if you’ve been doing any other forms of hanging prior to getting your BIB. What I suspect is that you may have tough ligs but the trick is to find at what weight your ligs will give under, so I think your right to keep adding weight until you feel fatigue on your internals. If the skin stretches that’s OK because you’ll probably need the extra skin later anyway, just minimize by getting a good grip mid shaft or farther back and tighten good. Feeling the fatigue is the key. When you reach the point where the fatigue sets in then you can lower the weight and maintain the stretched gain you’ve made.

I like to use golf weights after my heavy stretch which keeps my gain whatever it might have been. That keeps me from having to hang heavy all the time. I only do a heavy stretch maybe every other day but actually I prefer to heavy hang every third day doing two 20 minute sets per session. All the other time is spent light hanging i.e. golf weights ADS. My gains have been very consistent and continuous so far.

I don’t buy the necessity of hanging heavy all the time. I think it leads to plateauing requiring increasing the hang weight all the time. I think what is more effective is to hang heavy enough to break things down then maintain that with light hanging until the next heavy session which keeps things on a constant mend basis and the light hanging keeps the stretch disallowing the third phase of healing when the lig tries to return to its previous length.

Thanks for the help, guys. I fully realize this doesn’t happen over night. I only am aiming to correct any problems NOW to maximize efficiency for the long haul. I’ll definitely work to increase time per day, while working on some heavier weight and lighter maintenance weight. I should be able to put a nice routine together.

Interesting thoughts. I haven’t measured recently, but I think I’ve gained over a quarter inch in the last two weeks by doing what you’re suggesting — upping the weight quite a bit for a very tough session, then dropping to a light weight and holding it for a long time. I wouldn’t recommend this pattern for beginners though.

Well I don’t think beginners need to be brutal with themselves either. I think that if you’ve determined where your stretch point is whether it’s 4lbs or 20 that’s all you need to do and from then on you shouldn’t need to increase much from there. I think what’s happening is the light load not only keeps the stretch but disables the bodies ability to strengthen causing an increase in weight requirement. Hence Big Big weights may never be necessary. That is yet to be determined by me so far.

I’ve done a fair amount of searching and this is the closest thread I could find for the answers I’m looking for.

Basically I started hanging with a Vacu-Hanger in mid-December. When I started I was using 2.5 lbs. and I could definitely feel a nice pull on my ligs. After 3.5 weeks I can’t feel any lig pulling. I’ve increased the weight over time and I still cannot feel any tension on my ligs. I can only feel stress on the tunica.

I guess tunica stress is a good thing but I’m really trying to get all I can from my ligs first.

Can anyone tell me why I'm not feeling my ligs stretch anymore? Could it be that my ligs stretched as far as it could based on the elasticity of my skin and now my skin needs to stretch more?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to hang effectively with a Vacu-Hanger? Here’s a birds-eye view of my current routine…

Hot shower
8 min of manual BTC & BTC side stretches
200 Jelqs
20 min of Vacu-Hanging @ 7.5 lbs
600 LDP BTC Jelqs

Keep in mind both of my jelqing figures increase by a factor of 1.25 every session. I started around 50 and 100 a few weeks ago. Also note that my entire routine is done in front of a IR lamp.
