afb design question

hey hangers,

I’m trying to build a afb hanger (with the threaded rod and wing nuts).

One thing though is, the wood I have (from a paint stirrer) is 1.5 inches wide as opposed to the recommended 1.18 recommended. It will be easy to cut at 10 cm, but not the length of the hanger.

Any experience on if it’s ok for this added size on the sides would be greatly appreciated.

The recommended dimensions can be used as a guideline. A width of 1” will work but 1.5” will work as well. There’s not much difference except that a narrower hanger is slightly easier to attach and the clamped area is smaller so tightening takes less effort.

Are the paint stirrers thick enough? The sides need to be rigid enough to not break or bend significantly.

I think they should be thick enough, but I’ll soon see. (just put it all together!)
