A couple hanging questions . . .

The top part of my shaft and skin around the top part of the penis is a bit sore the next day after hanging. Does this mean that I am stretching the ligaments and thus making gains?

The very tip of my penis (probably about 1/4 inch) gets a bit numb and slightly bluish/gray after a 20 minute BTL hanging session. Is this okay?

When I reach about 10 lbs of weight, my penis starts to hurt from hanging. I feel very good pulling in my ligaments and that is fine, but it is actually my hanger that is hurting my penis around the head area. What can I do to fix this? I am using an Ace bandage with the homemade hanger in the attachment.

The top part of your shaft is sore because this hanger does not utilize lateral compression, but more top and bottom compression. It can be dangerous because it can cause damage to the nerve bundles. It sounds like the hanger is slipping down and sitting on the glans which is causing the numbness. Discoloration of the glans is natural but watch out for bluing or whiteness. If you notice those, stop immediately because you have cut off circulation.

Where is the pain? What kind of pain? Hanging should not be causing any pain; pain means you are doing something wrong. It sounds like your wrapping technique isn’t correct or the hanger isn’t tightened enough.

Does the BIB Hanger not sit on the glands?

The BIB hanger has a series of padded ridges that grip the penis along both sides of the shaft. After applying the BIB hanger and tightening it some, the hanger will slide down towards the glans, taking some skin and soft tissue along with it. Most guys wrap, apply the BIB and partially tighten it, and then “pulse push” the hanger and penis tissue to its final resting position before tightening fully. The hanger should stop short of the glans, however.

I too get some discoloration in the glans if I hang for 20 minutes straight. I do 20 minute sets, but each 5 minutes, I lift up the weights, grab my glans and stretch out the penis that gets “bunched up” beyond the hanger to give it a quick “breather”. This only takes 20 sec or so and I do it 3 times during a 20 minute set (and then remove the hanger). I also monitor the “capillary refill time” of my glans to make sure the hanger is not too tight. To do this, squeeze the glans till it blanches then release. The glans should “pink up” again within a few seconds (3 or 4). If it doesn’t, I loosen the hanger a little till it does. I also check this every 5 minutes.

NO hanger should ever sit on the glans. That would make it a noose type hanger and will lead to serious damage. Redbear52 is correct that the Bib hanger has “thumbs” that will grab your internals on the sides as you tighten. As you puls push forward, “shoulders” are formed to keep the hanger from sitting on your glans.

Okay, you’ve convinced me. The last thing I want to do is damage myself. Where is the cheapest place to buy a BIB Hanger and what should I use/how should I wrap with it?

Unless you can find one used, there is only one place to get a BIB hanger: http://www.bibhanger.com/index.htm. If you have any questions about which hanger to buy, ask BIB before ordering.

As for wrapping, there are many different methods and you will need to spend some time figuring out what works for you. BIB is very good about answering questions on his forum. He also has wrapping diagrams. You may also have questions about hanger adjustment which he can address. He is happy to look at any photos you might send him that you think might help explain your situation and questions.

My advice is to go very slowly with increasing the weight and use relatively short sets at first. During this phase you will be accomplishing several things: 1. Figuring out how to best wrap. 2. Figuring out how to apply and adjust the hanger. (Sometimes even minute adjustments can make a big difference). 3. Figuring out how to monitor your penis while hanging. 4. Determining what you should feel while hanging. (In other words, which sensations are expected and desired, and which sensations are an indication that something is wrong). 5. Stretching the skin, which most guys have to do before you can apply significant traction to the ligaments and tunica.

If you start to hang heavy weight and long sets from the beginning, you may cause yourself injury before you know it.

Yes, Bib’s can only be bought from the one and only Bib. A starter will probably be the best for you which is $95.00. If that’s too much, ask him if he has any “seconds.” Seconds aren’t used, they just have more air bubbles in them and he does not feel they are cosmetically up to par. He sells those for half. Wish I would have know that before spending $80 on my hardcore starter, but oh well.
