As far as a pump is concerned, I have never tried one, so I really don’t know how it might work synergistically or otherwise with an extender, so I’ll leave that to TG (or anyone else who’s more knowledgable) to discuss.

As far as bars, I can only speak from my experience but I’ll share that I’ve been able to add 3/4” to 1 inch in rod length within a month of starting back up with the extender. However, I tend not to wait until I reach max tension but instead add a 1/4” rod when I’m able to extend comfortably at quarter inch compression beyond my current rod setup.

First of all, awesome handle. Second, truck driving while using an extender sounds like a perfect way to get gains while working. Just not sure how you go about adjusting when you feel an odd pinch or when it’s time to up the tension.

It’s depressing but I think I moved up a 1/4” rod too quickly. Damn! It’s hard to unscrew those rods and admit defeat.

That’s eagerness for you. Now that it’s happened you’ll know better for the rest of your extender tenure. I did the same. No harm, no foul, stay stretching.

Dang that’s a tough break. I realized that I wait for 2 events before adding bars. Not in any order; when I don’t see any compression with the current bar length and I also need to see several days of flaccid length gain (from 1/8” - 1/4”). At that point I’ll add some more length.

That’s interesting. Thanks for letting me know that. I’m curious…when you say you don’t see any compression, are you suggesting that you unscrew the side adjustement bars all the way to max compression and you still see 3 lines on the tension side bar gauge?

Not quite what I mean. I don’t adjust the screws at all. What I mean when I say I don’t see any compression is that when I strap in I can see all three tension lines, hence no compression. .

Once I add more length to my bars I see compressing down to between the first and second lines. I probably add length every couple of months or close to.

That makes perfect sense. Thanks for explaining. So where I’m at now, you would consider that no compression since I see all 3 lines as soon as I strap in.

The thing is though that when I add an extra rod, the experience of wearing the extender is just uncomfortable. To the exent that I can only wear it for 45 minutes or so at a time. And I have to pull on my glans so much to be able to fit it in, that I end up squeezing all the blood out of it, thereby leading to not as sturdy of a hold.

I figure I’m somewhere between my current rod setup and adding an extra 1/4”. Would be nice if there was something for the in-betweeners like myself.

In the meanwhile, I’ll hold off and add tension for another week and see if I can maybe make then jump then.

I do not change Rod length until I am able to unscrew the adjusting screws to almost max for five days in a row.

I went back and re-read the sticky just now to get reacquainted. While the upper adjustment style (the one you recommend) is the one that’s perhaps most efficient, I prefer using the bottom method for a couple of reasons.

First, I’m stealthy with my extender. Meaning I wear it at home under my pants without my wife knowing. That being the case, I’m only allowed to go to the bathroom to “drop a deuce” 2-3-4 times a day at most without anyone thinking I’m in need of medical attention. So I have to be able to adjust on the fly. Using finger nails as you described. And unscrewing without seeing anything. The bottom screw method allows me to unscrew with one hand, while the other method requires the use of two hands (one to hold the bottom piece steady while turning the gauge).

Second, I actually only like to apply force at max to between the 3rd and 2nd tension lines. Anything more and the contraption starts digging into my scrotum something fierce. No good. So as far as I’m concerned, I only need to unscrew so much before I’m in that plush 3-2 marker area, and I’m ready to go. And depending on my gains, that can be between none to a little over a quarter inch or so. Afterwards, it’s time to add a rod.

All that aside, next time I’m home alone for a good duration of time, I’m gonna try your recommended method and feel it out. Like I said, I’m pretty sure the extender is best deigned to be used that way.

Tedious and painful are exactly right.

I logged nearly 400 hours using the X4. I’ve also thrown it on here and there as a secondary tool (keeping stretched after hanging). Never found a way to comfortably use it with the silicon noose and various methods of wrapping. I don’t even know how I suffered through so many hours in the beginning.

Worse than that, I never really ‘felt’ as if it was working. It’s just.. Soo.. Slow. But it does work.

Thanks! I’ve used it for a while now (elsewhere). Funny how perfect it clicked with this place once I discovered it.

Have you tried any other methods of PE? I’m not taking anything away from extending because gains are gains. And frankly, depending on lifestyle extending just works better in some ways. I’m just curious if there is something in particular about extending that makes you feel that way. Because I feel that way about PE in general, and hanging definitely gives me a more satisfying feeling of progress.
