Water water everywhere...

Noticed my font, eh T? Took a lot of trial and error to figure that one out, I assure you. I am learning many new and dangerous vb things. It is funny to me how the font looks completely different on my Mac than it does my Linux box though.

And Hobby, thanks. I did not realize that water could be overdone until tonight. Drinking bunches has been ever so good for me so far. But I guess it is like anything else, too much of a good thing can be bad. Here is an excellent link for anyone wanting to know the optimum amount of water to drink a day, and how important it is for you to do so: http://www.estherslegacy.homestead….OULDIDRINK.html Short answer = 1/2 your body weight in ounces.

For me, that would be about 3 less half liter bottles a day than I presently consume. Since I live in a hot climate, I am going to fudge one bottle extra and drink 3 liters a day for a while and see how that goes. I am betting I get my flaccid hang back in no time. So I am still pushing water for flaccid gains, but like Hobby said, I don’t want anybody getting stupid about it - so drink the 1/2 your body weight in ounces and no more!

LOL, after reading the subject of this thread (Water water everywhere…) I feared the worst. I thought that PirateSteve’s boat was sinking. I imagined water spouting in through dilapidated holes in the sides of his boat.

I’m glad to see that isn’t the case. And yes, I agree with the whole water helping flaccid size thing. Just make sure you aren’t drinking too much caffeine to counteract the effectiveness of the water.

There are a lot more benefits from drinking water. I do not have the exact address, but do a search on “water cure”, it is a very informative site.

Maybe the Pirate is drinking sea water. That can make sig fonts go wonky.

I truly don’t mean to take this thread off topic, but:

How so? Smaller, different style of type?

The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Part the Second

The Sun now rose upon the right:
Out of the sea came he,
Still hid in mist, and on the left
Went down into the sea.
And the good south wind still blew behind
But no sweet bird did follow,
Nor any day for food or play
Came to the mariners’ hollo!

And I had done an hellish thing,
And it would work ‘em woe:
For all averred, I had killed the bird
That made the breeze to blow.
Ah wretch! said they, the bird to slay
That made the breeze to blow!

Nor dim nor red, like God’s own head,
The glorious Sun uprist:
Then all averred, I had killed the bird
That brought the fog and mist.
‘Twas right, said they, such birds to slay,
That bring the fog and mist.

The fair breeze blew, the white foam flew,
The furrow followed free:
We were the first that ever burst
Into that silent sea.

Down dropt the breeze, the sails dropt down,
‘Twas sad as sad could be;
And we did speak only to break
The silence of the sea!

All in a hot and copper sky,
The bloody Sun, at noon,
Right up above the mast did stand,
No bigger than the Moon.

Day after day, day after day,
We stuck, nor breath nor motion;
As idle as a painted ship
Upon a painted ocean.

Water, water, every where,
And all the boards did shrink;
Water, water, every where,
Nor any drop to drink.

The very deep did rot: O Christ!
That ever this should be!
Yea, slimy things did crawl with legs
Upon the slimy sea.

About, about, in reel and rout
The death-fires danced at night;
The water, like a witch’s oils,
Burnt green, and blue and white.

And some in dreams assured were
Of the spirit that plagued us so:
Nine fathom deep he had followed us
From the land of mist and snow.

And every tongue, through utter drought,
Was withered at the root;
We could not speak, no more than if
We had been choked with soot.

Ah! well a-day! what evil looks
Had I from old and young!
Instead of the cross, the Albatross
About my neck was hung.

Okay thanks for the water tip and do we need to start a thread on the colored font thingy?

You all are still missing the point... The story was great and all but should have ass (and) some anal in it.- RWG

As an MD, I can tell you guys that it is near impossible for a healthy person to drink soo much water that they have problems. If your kidneys are normal, it takes 20 liters or more each day for several days to overdo it. I won’t bore you guys with the details, but the syndrome is hyponatremia (low sodium), and the two most common causes are SIADH(Syndrome of Inappropriate Anti-Diuretic Hormone, which is not a normal healthy person) and psychogenic polydipsia, where the person is usually psychotic and drinks so much water they get sick from it.

4 liters of water on top of other normal beverages is NOT going to hurt a healthy person.

If you have a heart or kidney conditin that requires limiting water intake, that is another story.

Rock out with your cock out!

TenaciousD,

Thank you. I never experienced anything but good from my 4 liters a day, so I am relieved to here your experienced voice chime in here. I think Hobby had a very real concern that someone might read my post, conclude that a lot of water would be good, and drink that 20 liters or more. Many of us PE fellows are obsessive enough to do exactly that - and then hurt ourselves. So, what you say gives me great encouragement. I can safely go ahead myself, and recommend to others, drinking 1/2 liter an hour during the day for increased health benefits and flaccid hang (and nothing after say, 6 or 7pm unless you want to pee all night instead of sleep). I started this morning at 7, and am on my second liter already!

Iamaru,
Thank you for posting my all time favorite tome. And coming from you made it all the more special. The boat I live in, that supports my lonely soul miles from land, that protects and comforts me, that thrills and delights me, that speaks to me on lonely nights and always watches over me like my own mother, is Maru. Often, I have looked upon your screen name with affection. I have no idea why you chose Iamaru as a screen name, but I have imagined at some level we must have a connection of some kind. And then, after the Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner and feeling very warm inside, I read the cat and Alice speaking. Never have I seen such a perfect signature quote here at Thunder’s. How on earth did Lewis Carroll know about us? So thank you Iamaru. You have given me a fine morning.

Well, time for some more water!

I have a book called Your Body’s Many Cries For Water written by F. Batmanghelidj, M.D. He writes about how not drinking enough water causes many of the health problems we have in ways we don’t realise. I don’t drink enough water but have been trying to do better lately. Sure makes for running to take a piss every 20 minutes.

I think 8 glasses of water a day is considered a healthy amount to drink.

That sounds about right.

Oh yeah, water consumptionis directly related to one’s overall food intake and size. The larger the person and the more foods (especially salty foods, carbs, that sort of stuff) they consume allows for a much greater water intake.

EDIT: Sorry, didn’t read the link, which has pretty much all of the information I just posted.

Starting 6.75 EBPL 4.85 EG Goal 7.75 NBEL 5.5 EG

I just looked at the link also, and see that 8 glasses a day is considered too general a guideline to go by. I probably should have read more of my book because I don’t know how much it says to drink and it may agree with the link which looks like good advice to me.

While 8 glasses a day is indeed the general guideline for minimum water consumption, the link I posted above (and once again here) has a much better formula based on body weight. After all, if 8 glasses is right for a 98 pound teenager, how could it be right for a 300 pound linebacker?

And remember these are minimum guidelines. I was feeling mighty fine drinking 4 liters a day, while the guideline suggests for me to drink 3 (the 8 glasses guideline would be 2). And my penis was mighty big from it too. So if you want a big hang, drink up me hearties, drink up!

**Always drink responsibly. Drinking more than 20 liters a day could be hazardous to your health. If you have kidney problems consult your doctor before drinking water. If you are pregnant or nursing, find another board.
