It’s great that you have some concerns and feel strong enough about them to voice them. Unlike other PE sites, Thunders has a great community of characters whose unique perspectives knock the boredom out of everyday life.

All of life is cyclical; meaning that these trends come and go. You may notice that when a HOT topic/idea starts, a lot of people may jump on the “bandwagon” and join in until the trend dies down. I seem to remember that in the last 60 days there was a proliferation of “captions” threads started. Enough of them that a moderator made comments about them.

Also please note that even though there are some scantily-clad women being used as avatars, this is the first I recall anybody making a negative comment about them. I don’t recall the women complaining, some of them have made positive comments on some of these avatars. As a matter of fact, some of the women here regularly post a large number of pictures of naked/scantily clad women.

As far as the comments about male domination, rape and the such; I believe the comments are usually made in jest and not to be taken seriously. If they were to be taken seriously, I would think that a moderator would have taken appropriate actions. Please read some of the stories posted by some of the women of the site. They contain some of these same themes. Of course these are just stories but they do contain similar ideas.

I’m glad you created this post. It is a good caution to bring this to people’s attention so that it doesn’t get out of hand and go too far.

By CP, you mean “cow pussy” right? I don’t find this particularly offensive, frankly. And if we guard against this legitimate - not to mention useful - shorthand for describing a women’s large vagina, then we should also be wary of using “pencil dick”.

Any gathering, of any multitude of men, any where, and in any form on this earth is bound to turn negative once the topic of discussion turns to women. The same thing happens when they congregate. We must remember that the “battle of the sexes” is a bloodsport, a bare-knuckles take-no-prisoners struggle for survival in which men are at a decided disadvantage. So long as we’re careful to reign in some of the more toxic posts that go well beyond calling for a good vigorous romp in the hay, I don’t see anything wrong with the occasional pejorative reference to women. They’ve earned it.

So long as about 80% of the content of the internet is pornographic in nature, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that avatars depicting nude women are often used. I say ban the internet.

Legitimate? Useful? Rediculous. And yes it is offensive to some people. What if we started using the term cow-bodied? Cow-brained? Any time you negatively describe a person by comparing them to a lessor animal, you’re going to offend people. Unless of course you are Hindu ;)

I for one don’t know the true dimensions of CP. I’m curious how this usage came about. How big IS a bull’s unit? I thought they were smaller than horses.

As for the avatars, I’ve always subconciously viewed guys using female avatars as crossdressers. :p

Not only is this a mens club (including a few lovely, indispensable women) it is also a grown ups club. The only time I fear negatively impacting people with my posts is when I consider the possibility of easily impressionable younger guys misinterpreting something intended as satire.

As always, ModestoMan makes relevant and wise points - well timed and duly noted - but I’m of the mind that there should be a “younger persons” forum for those of us who can’t handle the darker results of when men gather.

I’m not trying to advocate the creation of a PC squad. Many of the harshest posts have also been the most creative and funniest. Although I disapproved of Wadzilla’s behavior, I appreciated his story. Like Darth Vader, he may someday be turned away from the dark side of the force. We’ll have to wait and see whether Dr. “you know who” can do it.

What upset me much more than Wad’s sadistic adventure was the round of applause that it seemed to generate. It’s like there’s this reservoir of pent up hostility toward women out there, and Wad’s post opened the flood gates.

I spend a lot of time here, and I would like to feel proud of that. I can’t feel that way as long as there is a critical mass of members here who want to “kick that bitch to the curb.”

I hope we can all make this place something to be proud of. Some day my kids may log on here, and see posts by this flake called “ModestoMan.” I want them to like that guy.

Your posts are nothing short of brilliant. You are truly the Marquis de Sade of Thundersplace. It’s not the harsh, sadistic posts that irk me. It’s the banal high-fiving and thoughtless name calling.

RWG was funny as hell when he introduced the CP term. But, it’s tasteless now that it’s become part of the vernacular.

Part of the problem may be that many of the newer members are trying to imitate the really funny, harsh guys. It’s kind of creating this veneer of bad taste, IMO.

I can’t think of too many other places where we can be us, and bond together, and celebrate what we are, and what we can be. We are grossly outnumbered when it comes to sex distinct places to bond and gripe.

By no means are we celebrating or advocating violence towards women. I love women. But, they have their gripe session and check and balance system, shouldn’t we have ours?

Also, women have the full right to voice their opinions. They know what they are getting into when they come on the site. After all, it is a penis enlargement forum. What would you expect if you went on a taping of Oprah?

I understand the purpose of this forum to primary be Penis Enlargement thus we frequently discuss topics of a sexual nature. Its obvious from some of the threads I have seen that some guys go a little overboard and often they are kidding. I think it would be a good idea not to get too particular about words that someone might find offensive. After all, Rape is not a sexual mentality but a brutal, aggressive crime of violence. Something will always most likely offend someone though. One of the problems that I have always seen with political correctness is that whoever determines what is politically correct empowers themselves to control the terms of conversation or communication. Take for example an incident that happened at my job last year.

Several fellow employees were putting up a Christmas tree in our lobby when I walked by and said, “Nice Christmas Tree”. I was approached later by the HR director who had heard my brief conversation with colleagues and she said, “By the way Hugh, the word we are using now is Holiday Tree”. To that I replied, “Ok. For you its a holiday tree for me its a Christmas tree. I don’t get offended when you say holiday tree so please don’t get offended if I say Christmas tree since I have been using the term for many years and I have yet to offend anyone.” She wasn’t happy with my response but me being rather high up on our corporate ladder she had no other options. Plus, this wasn’t a company policy, this was her own idea and she was trying to make this a policy. My point is to some the tree was a tree to some it was a holiday tree to others a Christmas tree. The tree could and probably did serve many roles to many people none of which should have been taken as patently offensive or intentionally crude and oppressive. Sadly enough I see a day in the future where we have no trees, a stringent dress code and a policy that discourages people to talk about workouts, diets etc …. for fear of making someone feel different.

Many of the younger users of this forum have been raised in a very different culture then many of the older members. Listen to the lyrics of an Eminem song sometime. These lyrics are very popular with many women and not just teenagers either. Its not uncommon to hear Eminem blaring from the speakers in a aerobics class filled with women between the ages of 18 and 45. Many of the women I have met over the last 10 years have requested that I talk dirty to them. One in particular wanted me to “Pull her hair and call her a whore”. Its amazing how many seemingly shy women request that kind of treatment and for the record no, I am not into anything painful or degrading. One school of thought ascertains that the explosion in the BDSM lifestyle is related to the new sensitive man we are creating. I’m not saying this is true but Testosterone is a very powerful hormone that makes men think and act very differently then women. This physiological transition begins prior to birth with the inheritance of a Y chromosome. Studies of Lesbian couples have definitely shown that the dominant partner has a higher Testosterone level than the other. The jury is still out on whether this phenomenon happens prior to or after the relationship building stage.

In summary, I think that we need to be careful filtering individual words from the forums because the words we use give us the ability to entertain, create and express our individuality. Many of the Thunders contributors have a great talent for entertaining us and I would hate to see them drift away from the forums for fear of offending someone with a clever, witty repartee. If someone says something that you don’t like tell them; let them see the other perspective; it may or may not be valid in their eyes but we should all be able to agree to disagree and respect each other since this is a support forum and we have common objectives.
