The Permanence of PE Gains

The Permanence of PE Gains

What I am about to say may be controversial, but I fell compelled to say it nonetheless. I have been actively PEing for nearly 3 years. During that time I have been blessed with success - going from 5”nbp x 4.5”eg to 8”nbp x 6”eg. These gains have been the result of many, many hours of PE. Because of my work arrangement (I own my own business), I have been able to PE at work. For more than 15 months, I was hanging for an average of 5 hours a day, 6 days a week. I have since dropped into a maintenance mode where I hang 1.5 to 2 hours a day.

I will qualify the statements that I am about to make in the event that I am the exception to the rule rather than consistent with the rule. Since I am older (turning 50 years old this year), my penile anatomy may be slightly different than that of younger members. I would like to hear from other members to learn if this is, indeed, the case.

Over the past year, I have observed a noticable change in my erect length that is directly proportionate to the amount of PE that I do (or don’t do). After taking a lengthy vacation during the holidays, I got back into maintenance mode after about 3 weeks off. On a lark, I got an erection and took a measurement. It showed 7.25”nbp. I didn’t freak out because I have been suspecting for a while now that my best length is always attained during active PE. I then proceeded to stretch for about 10 minutes after applying moist heat. I got another erection and measured again. This time it showed 7.75”nbp. I then proceeded to hang for about an hour and a half (5 - 20 min. sets). I got another erection and measured again. Guess what? It showed my normal 8”nbp. That was a change of three quarters of an inch. I have taken several one to two week PE breaks since then and have seen my erect length decrease a half inch each time and then return to 8” again after returning to my normal PE regimen.

Later I took 5 days off. I measured and saw only a quarter of an inch erection loss. In talking with veteran PE’ers, I have heard similar stories. I remember a post from a long time pumper who said that he lost more than 2 inches of erect length after quitting pumping for a couple of years. Since he was fairly young, I began to suspect that PE gains will diminish without continued PE regardless of age. Medical experts have confirmed that the penis shrinks as men get older. I think that in older men, it may be due to a decrease in tissue elasticity. However, I believe that younger men are also affected by this to some extent.

I strongly feel that some percentage of PE gains involve stretched tissues. I believe that penile tissues will contract without continued stretching. How much contraction may, indeed be based upon age, individual physiology, etc. My gut tells me that this contraction is directly related to the corpus cavernosa rather than the suspensory ligaments. In any case, I would me most interested in hearing the thoughts of other forum members on this subject.

Hi jelktoid,

Wow, quite a puzzle.

IIRC, Bib said he lost about 1/2” after he stopped hanging. You both hung (hanged - damnit I still don’t know which is correct in this sense) long hours each day continuously for many months. You both gained a lot.

I wonder if and how much each of these contributes. Maybe shrinkage is more of an issue for big gainers in general. Or perhaps the particular method modifies the tissues to attain (and hold for more time) a greater temporary post-PE length.

Or maybe it’s due to decreasing erection strength with time away from PE. Does it seem that way? Have you tried only some daily light jelqing for maintenance? If so, what is its effect on maintaining size?

Does your BPFSL change that much also?

Does girth also decrease? If the tunica is responsible for the variance, it seems likely it would change in size all over, not just length.

What is your LOT? Which direction did you stretch and hang to get back to 8” so quickly? More on this, next time you are down some, check your LOT before and after getting back to 8”. See how much it changes and in which direction.

I agree with what you’re saying, toid. And it’s about Use it or lose it. I’ve never believed that PE, no matter the method, is completely permanent for me though it may be for others. We’ve had guys check in after a year or more of quitting PE who report no loss at all.

I think degree of regression is highly variable and for reasons I don’t understand. Maybe age related, don’t know. I have a suspicion that we older guys have a better chance of holding onto our gains (or a greater percentage of those gains, inchwise) than younger guys do and I also suspect we might be more elastic than younger guys only because in my experience here, older guys (over 40 or so) often tend to be good gainers.

When I went on Maintenance, I did it very sloppily. Very sporadic workouts or none at all for as long as 6 weeks. During a period of months, I forget now how many, I lost short of an inch in length dropping from 8.39 to 7.50. I have a strong psychological investment in the Platinum Club and wanted to stay at 8 so I worked back up to that and it did not take long at all. Now I do just enough PE to stay at that length. They keep renewing my platinum card, anyway.

Girth did not decrease until I laid off all girth work. At the top of my PE form I was at 6.5. I didn’t like that and quit all girth work for a long time. I dropped back to 6. Now with some moderate general exercise, some pumping some jelking - even once a week but usually less, I’m able to stay where I like to be. Because I am a pumper and have probably permanently expanded my cavernosal chambers and the tunica around them laterally, girth stays pretty stable. Length goes, though, unless I stay on my maintenance schedule.

As for the issue of controversy in your bringing this up, I’ve never understood why so many new PE’ers are so concerned about permanence. If you can get bigger and all it takes to stay that way is some time-to-time adjustment, what difference does it make? All the time you are bigger, you are bigger. That’s plenty permanent to me.

Jelk,

Thanks for the thread. This has been my concern since I stopped the intensive PE I practiced for the first five months. I’m doing mainly stretches to maintain, but I have a gut feeling if I lay off completely, I’ll lose my hard-won gains. I don’t mind practicing a kind of maintenance program But I’m not spending nearly as much time now as I did just three months ago.

I do know before I started Pe my penis had not shrunk an iota.

So far I don’t seem to have experienced any loss. I’ll keep you informed.

Excellent thread and posts. Avocet, I have always relied heavily on your thoughts about permanence and early on adopted it as a philosophy: If keeping my gains requires a light maintenance schedule for the rest of my days, so be it. I don’t see any difference between this and our need to stay active in order to remain physically fit.

Aside from the physical science of permanence a very simplistic approach I have taken is to over-shoot my goals - leaving room for some inevitable loss as my routine becomes less of a priority, which it inevitably will.
I think of the time spent getting the extra like the cost an insurance policy :)

That applies to erections, too, Cap. The more you have, the more you are likely to have.

Not just to you, but everyone should at least casually monitor the frequency of their nocturnal erections, not just sexual ones. There will be normal and natural times when they are not frequent or noticeable. But one of the keys to staying active sexually well into old age is to keep a healthy pattern of these events happening.

Having said that, back to what toid said. He raises a lot of good points.

Hobby,

>Or maybe it’s due to decreasing erection strength with time away from PE.
Does it seem that way?<

No. My erections are solid. In fact, I have a woody almost every morning upon waking.

>Have you tried only some daily light jelqing for maintenance? If so, what is its effect on maintaining size?<

No. I haven’t tried light jelqing. I Jelq for about 30 minutes to work on girth. I might try that several times to see if it helps with maintaining length.

>Does your BPFSL change that much also?<

Not quite. It is about 1/2 inch shorter, but it returns to normal after hanging and stretching.

>Does girth also decrease? If the tunica is responsible for the variance, it seems likely it would change in size all over, not just length.<

Girth never seems to change.

>What is your LOT? Which direction did you stretch and hang to get back to 8” so quickly? More on this, next time you are down some, check your LOT before and after getting back to 8”. See how much it changes and in which direction.<

My LOT is low - about 7 o’clock. I always hang btc and straight out. I never thought to check my LOT again. I will, however, check it next time I lay off for a while.

Jelktoid :trash: More meat for the money!

great posts guys…..

I have not been actively PEing for about 5-6 months and I don’t seem to have lost anything. Well maybe a few millimeters, but like you said, jelk, when you are actively yanking on it all the time, it’s in a permanent state of it’s biggest measurement.

Permanency of gains from different tissues

jelktoid, Interesting stuff.
Before each period of EL loss, which tissues where you mostly working on when hanging?

On my own account, I will know with certainty only later on how it works out, but I’m in for a slight jawdrop if I lose substantial EL gained specifically from deformed ligaments (I’m hanging BTC only until this gain potential is significantly diminished for me according the LOT theory). Of course, I can’t tell what percentage of my EL gains are from which stretched tissues but most of it should be ligaments from the exclusive BTC work. I currently don’t jelq or do any other PE than hang BTC.

A minor note so far: I recently took a 2 week break (from all PE, including kegels), after which I measured 1/8” longer than ever prior to this relatively short break.

If I’m not mistaken - I hope I get it right; pardon if I’m not - Bib has said he reached 10.75”, then quit and a few or more months later measured 10.5”. I don’t recall reading that he lost any more later on and regained; anyhow I do believe he’s said it’s 10.5” now and his longest was 10.75”.

I really hate hearing this shit!!! I wonder if the speed of gains gotten has anything to do with how permanent a gain is and how long before it takes one to lose it. Now my friend Jelk is a fast gainer could that mean he’s a fast loser? And I’m a slow gainer could it be that my gains would come off slow, secjay lost very little in his time off and he is a slow gainer. I wonder.

I haven't failed, I've found 10,000 ways that don't work. Thomas Edison (1847-1931)

For me, PE has been very permament. The gains I got in my first bout of PE back in 1997 stayed with me when I got back into it and measured again in 2003. So that’s roughly 5 years of no PE and minimal loss. I personally think that if you stop PE and also stop doing your kegels, what loss in size you experience is because of lesser erections, not that the tissue involved has “regained” its former state.

I gained an inch and a half and quit for maybe up to 2 years because I could’n’t gain any more. I lost about 1/8th of an inch.
