The Newbie Routine should be reconsidered?

A quick fix would probably be porn, although it’s not recommended for extended periods of time because it might lead to your dick getting hard only by watching porn, and not by using your fantasizing mind ;) That’s not incurable though… Just ditch porn alltogether for a month or two, and you should be fine again. So if you’re already watching lot’s of porn, then cut it! ;)

My Stats:

NOW: BPEL: 5.59 inch || EG Base: 4.33 inch || BPFL: 3.23 inch || EG Mid: 4.1 inch

I’ve been looking into these concepts since trying to get back on track. I’ve done the newbie routine and lighter versions. I just wanted to chime in that I think the younger you are the more you can gain from more work. When I was in college I gained from the newbie routine and heavier versions and I almost didn’t have to worry about overtraining. Now I think it’ll probably be months before I even get back to the newbie routine. If I am consistent until then.

If I were you I would start out the usual way, then lube up and lighten up.

Make sure you have a good long block of time where you will be undisturbed. That way you can be completely relaxed and without anxiety that you need to "hurry up and get it over with."

If you use porn to get aroused, turn it off once you are hard and just focus on your own sensations.

Vary your strokes, hard and fast, light, slow, etc etc. Be sure to take time to stimulate all of your penis, not just the glans and frenulum.

Reread this web page to remind yourself what you are after:

Edging - enhance your orgasm

Lube can ***really really** magnify sensation if it is the right lube.

For what it is worth I think things are way better if you use a non-water based lube for this. To me it makes a HUGE difference. For example I have read great things about this:

MensCream.com - The Personal Lubricant for Men

I use this:

It is sold as a makeup remover and skin moisturizer. I read about it as a lubricant in a sex manual in the ’90s. Liquifies and warms up on contact. Feels great, very smooth. At the end wipe it off with a towel. Some will be left behind …but hey IT IS A SKIN MOISTURIZER! That’s got to be good for your penis, don’t you think????

Back to the topic at hand = If I was king of the world, I would highly advise that newbies do WET JELQS ONLY. Dries just seem to harsh for a newbie to do.

Great, informative reply there sta-kool! I’m going to read up on that link about enhancing your orgasm when I have more time at hand. And I agree, newbies should be doing wet jelqing only! Wet jelqs seem to be so much more easier to do than dry jelqs, that i’m wondering why people do dry jelqs in the first place!

Cool. It’s just having cut the porn it’s harder to get hard. But I like the idea of starting with porn to get me up then putting it off. I have actually been doing that. Once it’s up and away it’s easeir to keep it like that. I wonder if that small amount porn will not fuck up my porn detox or mind sensitivity?

I have some lube dunno what it is. I have an il and water based one. Only used a few times but it’s god for 10 mins then gets all sticky and drys up and is worse than dry wanking so have to keep reapplying but thats too expensive for 1-2hrs. I wodner if olive oil or vaseline is better?

I use vaseline, it’s sticky, it’s messy, but it gets the job done and is long lasting. It’s quite cheap too! :)

A bit of porn won’t fuck your mind up, as far as I know. But when it becomes addictive (i.e. you have a hard time getting hard without porn) you’ll have to be careful. Trust me, I know, I’m quite the addicted one myself and it’s annoying when doing PE. Luckily, I know a masturbation technique that can be done while you are flaccid. I did this even before I know that a man could cum by jacking off! ;) I still do it quite often. :)

…But yeah, I got to cut out on the porn too…

If I had to choose between olive oil and vaseline, I would go with olive oil. Nicer consistency than vaseline. I have jelqed with it and thought it was fantastic for that. Also wiping away with a towel, a little stays behind, good for the skin.

Reasonable, I think you are probably right that younger guys may have a little greater margin of error in terms of training/overtraining. I am in my early 50’s and it seems like I really have to be careful about pushing too hard with my PE routine. And making sure that I get adequate days off.

How would you word Newbie Routine v2.0?

1. I think it would be easy to BOLDLY and REPEATEDLY add:

A. You should work up to the routine over the course of several months.

B. Some, (many?), guys will get results and never have to get to the full routine.

C. Starting at the full routine can lead to injury and most likely will not produce results. (Even if you have a dick that will respond to 200 jelqs, you still need to work into it at least for a few routines.)

2. Add a link the modified newbie/linear thread as just one possible way to work up to the routine.

3. If possible, get a new video.

OR:

Simply cut all the reps/time numbers in half, and state that you should work up to it over 2-4 weeks.

I also think that a name change might help. We seem to want to not be “new”. Maybe call it the “Fast Gain Routine”?

I think that putting this to a thread discussion will just add to Thunder’s seemingly perpetual grumpy mood. There are guys here who will talk this to death. It’s Thunder’s house and his rules, and he will have to decide what to do. But with that in mind, NOW is the time to make your suggestions, as he seems to be somewhat amiable to making a change!

I also think that changing the routine will reduce the workload on the mods and others, as a lot of what they do is simply telling newbies to take it easy.

WTF? It only “seems” that I am in a “perpetual grumpy mood”. I swear god damn it, that I am not perpetually grumpy. How the hell did I get this reputation of being a fucking grump anyway?

Nice input chronostone. Can you track down and link the linear routine please?

Just a couple comments to try to get more input/bump the thread:

The above solution would be the easiest. The newbies would probably take care of working over the amounts all by themselves.

Calling it the Fast Gain Routine would not be a trick or misleading, as that is when the fastest gains typically occur.

An opinion from someone with only six weeks of PE experience:

The current newbie routine was somewhat too rough on me when I first started, I got sore and had to take some time off to let myself heal. After that I decreased the training amounts and continued while gradually increasing the routine. After about a month of consistent PE, I think I was up to the initial amounts suggested in the newbie routine (200 jelqs, 5 mins of stretching), with good EQ and feel. Especially the stretching seemed to cause soreness initially. So, in my opinion, chronostone’s suggestion to cut the reps/time in half seems to be a simple but good idea. I would suggest that the larger amounts (e.g. 30 mins of jelqing) need not be mentioned in the newbie routine, but instead it could be mentioned that after the first month or three the amounts can be gradually increased more. One more thing I feel could be also very good to mention would be the PIs (or at least EQ). It feels to me that paying attention to your general EQ helps you to avoid overtraining which is something most newbies seem to “try out”. Of course, the effectiveness of the routine should also be kept in mind, but as far as I know, I’m not the only one who has gained something with the lighter routine. My personal gains are quite modest (.25”) compared to some people in the forum with a similar amount of training, but nevertheless I feel that avoiding the injuries should have at least initially a greater priority over maximizing gains.
