I can’t seem to get this to work without cutting off blood flow. I think it may be due to the weight I have not being balanced and the wench twisting. Anyone else having blood flow (I.e. Cold and blue) problems? I think I read at one point about cutting grooves into the pads. Not sure if that will work.
dsteve: You know there isn’t a practical way to compress enough to handle the weight of hanging without cutting off circulation. That’s the reason for the 20 minute rule. Never exceed the rule. Yeah, I know its a pain to have to release that often but circulation is the reason. We don’t want to end up with either a case of gangrene or discoloration from oxygen starvation.
I haven’t heard of anyone having a wench twist on them so that’s a new one on me. You might check the pad location to see if they are symmetrically placed on each side of your shaft when loaded up. If they are offset in some fashion from being even on each side of your shaft that might cause a twist under load.
Oh one other thing concerning pad location and that is if they are not properly placed they can cut off what small amount of circulation still tries to get through. Make sure they are placed on each side and not the top of your shaft where blood vessels are traveling.
