The Angle of Perspective

A couple of weeks ago, I was out of town on business, staying in a nice hotel and enjoying several evenings of extended, uninterrupted and very private PE. My hotel bathroom had a round makeup mirror mounted on a swing arm. This mirror had magnification on one side and a normal mirror on the other side. I found that if I angled the mirror downwards toward the tub, I could get a nice focused inspiring view of myself doing seated jelqs and squeezes while sitting on the edge of the tub.

I could not believe how big my package looked in the makeup mirror’s reflection! No, I was not using the magnification side! Just the normal mirror reflection. I was in awe of how big I looked in this mirror. I decided that angle of the mirror pointing downward towards me was what made my unit seem bigger. It seemed to add 1 to 2 inches in visual length. For me, it was another confirmation of the camera tricks used in porn, so eloquently analyzed by DLD in the past. This downward angle gave me a whole new perpective on size presentation.

JM, what is the difference between the angle from which you view your cock normally when standing in front of a mirror — in which you also look downwards — and that of the downward-pointing mirror in the hotel? Would it be possible for a guy to take a picture of his dick from the same angle as that of the hotel mirror, and get the same results? I agree that things like this influence the perception of our own size, so I’m really interested in understanding exactly what you observed. DLD did a rather thorough study on something similar, I believe. Thanks.

Let’s see if I can explain this in words. The difference is that when you stand in front of a mirror, your eyes are looking down at your reflection in the wall mirror. We’ve often talked about how dicks appear smaller than they actually are when we look down on them (top view). On the other hand, when you look at the reflection in the downward-pointing makeup mirror, from the seated position on the edge of the tub, your eyes are looking upward at the mirror and thus giving you a different perspective. Another factor is that having a smaller mirror positioned at an angle (actually there are two angles—left to right and down and up) provides a greater focus and a different perspective than a flat mirror mounted vertically on the wall.

Yes, I think this concept would translate well to taking a photograph of your dick. I think that you would need a fully adjustable camera tripod to be able to replicate the view I had. It would be easy to do, position the tripod so that the camera was mounted up high, then angle the camera downward towards your dick until an optimal angle is achieved. It would be fun to do this with a tripod-mounted camcorder, as well. Who knows? The Member Pics section may have to develop dick pics standards similar to the commonly accepted measurement standards of BPEL, NPBEL sucha as HCDP-High Camera, Downward Pointing, WHSP-Waist High, Straight Pointing, etc.!

One other thing to note, the makeup mirror was mounted on the side wall of the bathroom. In order to view my package while seated in the middle of the edge of the tub, the mirror was angled slightly to the left and downward. This side wall position of the mirror may have affected the reflected perspective in the mirror, also.

JM, thanks much for your comments. I see now what you mean and will try to do some experimenting on my own along these same lines. I don’t want my cock photos to be deceptive, but this might help me see my cock as others see it, which I believe is one of the points of your post.
