Surgery Forum?

I have discussed this with Thunder and we believe the best way to guage the demand for this is through a discussion thread with a poll. Basically, I am interested in having a surgery forum added to Thunders. I had originally planned to do this at my own website, but I never successfully cultivated membership or posting. I would include information about the different doctors performing the PE surgeries, their methods, track records, ect. I would want to keep things totally unbiased and objective. Also, I would discuss the risks, and complications of the surgery. Currently, there is not a lot of information out there about the risks and you can’t count on the doctors to be honest with you. For those of you who have been keeping up with my surgery thread, I have had a number of complications and this has been somewhat more than I had bargained for. In addition, I would research and discuss all of the different post operative devices and programs for post operative care which is vital for the surgery along with the supplementation. Crashhex had originally opted for a surgery forum, but things were not taken well as he was quite evasive about answering peoples questions and also with posting clear pictures.

I would be willing to put in a lot of work running the surgery forum if people would like, and I have learned quite a bit fom my surgery, this is knowledge that you could not have without going through it myself. I can say, there is quite a lot I would have done differently had I known what I know now, and I believe the surgery forum could serve as a tool to help educate men fully before going under the knife. I would like to hear everybody’s thoughts about this.

For those of you who don’t know about my surgery, check the members pics area, here are links to my threads about the surgery.

I am having the PE surgery done in 2 weeks

I think there’s too many different other types of PE to single out surgery. We’d have to make a Other or Misc. sub-forum and within that have clamping, surgery, ads and so on.

I voted I don’t actively desire one 8-ball, but I am certainly not opposed to the idea, especially not now when it is clear that you are more than capable and obviously willing to put all the necessary effort into it, which will be required, to make it really useful.

Why would anyone be actively against the idea?

Maybe someone who just thinks the surgery is too dangerous and crazy for anyone to attempt, although I would include the complications and risks so maybe my forum would sway them away from it. I would push the surgery or denounce it, just provide all the facts. Maybe those who voted no could speak up and explain why they think it is bad?

Good surgery forum with lots of information can easily double the traffic of Thunder’s website.

Didn’t we already do this poll? Am I just having a less lucid than normal day?

I do have some reservations in that I like things just the way they are around here, (Yikes, I am part of the establishment.) I have very little opinion one way or the other as fas as needing a surgery forum goes. My concerns would be entirely in the nature of how would this change Thunder’s.

Interesting the result so far anyway is very similar. About 85% unopposed now versus about 81% then.

I think it’s a great idea and will be a very valuable addition to the site as long as our more zealous non-surgical PE purists friends are kept from instantly flaming anyone who shows interest or has already had the procedure.

The choices are essentially three yes and one no, so one could add up the first three choices and say to Thunder, “See, a lot of people want one.” I voted against because this is a place of manual or natural methods, not surgical. Surgical is the “quick” way, the “easy” way, the one with “instant” gains. But it’s also, as 8-Ball has learned, the way of great disappointment, pain and unfulfilled dreams. I’d rather keep this place focused on manual methods.

Some of you know that my job involves administering anesthesia for surgery. I’ve worked with Gary Rheinschild and another (now out of the business) surgeon and have participated in dozens of these procedures. So I’m not being anti-surgery without some insight into the way things work.

I definetly don’t believe surgery is a solution but I do believe that it is a supplement to PE such as pumping, clamping, ect. A more dangerous one of course. Like I said before if we got a surgery forum we would have to re do the entire organization of the forum to include other types of PE such as clamping and ADS. Don’t you think?

I’m all for it. You can see just by the incredible response/participation to 8-Ball’s threads that there’s a tremendous interest amongst members.

It could allow the site to better organize different topics related to surgery. As of now 8-Ball’s surgery progress thread is alone fielding every type of surgery question and surgery-related topic, whether it’s related to his post-surgery experience or not. Because that’s where all the guys who’ve had surgery experience hang out now (since there’s no surgery forum for them).

I once posted a new surgery-related thread on the effects of cutting the suspensory ligament, and literally had to go post on 8-Ball’s thread and point them to my thread to get some insight from them. :)

Since then I’ve just posted all my q’s directly onto 8-Ball’s thread.

Excellent answer choices, 8-Ball — the poll Crashhex posted was super-annoying because the answer choices were so biased.

I’d say it might be a good experiment at this point, especially since we have at least one member (8-Ball) who is motivated to try to obtain truly accurate information about these surgeries. If the forum doesn’t get much activity, the threads in it could always be collapsed back into the “Main” forum.

One big potential problem I see is that we may get a lot of spamming bullshit that is hard to weed out from legitimate posts. Surgery is HUGE money, way way way more profitable than any of the PE devices sold out there, so I’d be concerned that we’d get a lot of fake registrations appearing..

Very true. My actual opinion is leaning toward against but not strongly against.

I think you guys are being too critical of his poll choices. It would be nice if there were symmetry on the “pro” and “con” answers — one of each, to keep the analysis simple — but this shouldn’t distort the basic pattern of results obtained. The first two choices here can be summed to count the “pro” votes, the third choice treated as “no opinion,” and the fourth choice as “con.”

The fourth choice does not say “strongly against,” so I don’t really see a problem. If you prefer that there not be a new surgery forum, then the fourth option is the correct choice for you.
