I hesitated about posting this - since it was what I was doing when I badly pulled a lig….however, in the spirit of PE knowledge I pass it on (with a word of caution).

When I was at the local grocery store several days ago, in the household cleaning items isle, I saw a pair of “MR. CLEAN MegaGrip GLOVES with grippers.” (“For Maximum Holding Power”), hmmmmmm…….

They had an XL pair hanging on the hook, and they were like a whopping $1.69 - so I bought a pair.

They list their site as http://www.mrcleangloves.com/index.cfm?width=800 and they post this number: 1-800-247-5281 (M-F, 9 AM - 5 PM EST), email: custserv@magla.com

Anyway….those gloves gave me a mad grip. They have a bunch of little nodes on them. They’re not super comfortable, but not unbearable either. But I pulled like all hell with those gloves….

and hurt myself. Anyway, I never managed to pull like that before. I should have used a heating pad & eased into it more.

Be careful.

If all heals well, I think I’ll be using them again too. :o

Jelq in arabic, eh? I figured it had something to do with that.

Speaking of which, I assume that Jelq is actually a word in Arabic, do you know the literal translation? I have heard that the word means “to flip”, or a variety of other PE-related definitions.

one more tip:

At first, you’ll probably find these gloves to provide great gripping power (I know I did). I would suggest a good hot soak, dry off, don the gloves, then take it easy.

At first, use the gloves to help hold your stretches for longer periods of time. I held my first stretch for a long time in the A stretch with no slippage and minimal hand fatigue. The problems came when I quickly used the gloves to stretch further than before. I think it’s best to use them - at least at first - to stretch longer - not further.

First get accustomed to the “turbo” effect offered by the gloves before you try to take it too far in terms of distance.

That’s how I plan to reapproach the gloves, after I’ve healed.

See, I picked up a pair of the same exact gloves today (snug fit….pft). When I tried them on, the first thing I noticed was that I was able to use the grip I had used when I first started PE (right behind the glans, rather than one inch or so back) and do so while applying minimal force to the glans. I’ve always had grip problems and so these (or perhaps those ultra grips) will put me over the edge.

What is happening when grip aids help the stretch? How do they do it?

When I began PE I thought guys who talked about grip aids were bonkers. How can getting a better hold on the skin result in a better grip of the internal structures underneath? Seems counter-intuitive. Yet, it works.

Why?

I think cloths, gloves, powder or other things anchor the fingers in set positions on the skin, allowing the shaft skin between the fingers to tighten and contribute to the clamping tension. This provides a considerable amount of additional clamping area and pressure over fingers alone.

This is something I hadn’t considered until recently.

Duh, you say. So obvious. Perhaps, but it hadn’t been mentioned before and stumped me for awhile.

I think you are correct in your reasoning, and I can say from personal experience (with the exact same gloves Wadzilla is speaking of in this post) that it does indeed help. For me it helped a great deal because I couldn’t get a good enough grip to maximize the efficiency of my workouts until I started using them. However, until I tried it, I thought the same as yourself as far as why it wouldn’t help. I will say the difference was VERY noticeable compared to stretching with my bare hands the first time I used them.

Yes, by “longer” I meant longer periods of time; by “further,” I meant distance-wise. I would recommend you start with the gloves by holding your stretches for longer times (with less slippage & hand fatigue!). As you become more accustomed to the benefits of the gloves, gradually take your stretches further (in terms of distance, inches, etc.).
I think I made the mistake of really fatiguing my ligs with a very long & deep A-Stretch; then, after a very brief rest (< 1 min.), I tried to see how far I could stretch my unit - in the fatigue state, & injured myself.
