I was looking closely at the data on size’s pe data page, and noticed something peculiar; whatever formula was used, it calculated that my width should be about 1.75” across… I’m assuming thats the diameter.

I was curious about this and measured myself that way for the first time (hadn’t thought of it before) and found that it was about 2” that way, not 1.75….

The point is, I wasn’t always worried about my girth untill I read the numbers, the averages and other’s stats I mean. and I figure from this bit of info that it was because I was going by the numbers alone, from my point of view, (and going by Size’s calculations) mine should LOOK to me the same as a guy with 6.25 circumference (eg uc61la) from above…

of course this doesn’t ‘excuse’ me from anything, like trying to get girth, just something strange :)

Size do you think you could tell me the forumula you used in there? It’s probably one that deals with a perfect cylinder right? because I’m assuming this would be quite incorrect for others too.. (that is, if everyone is ‘wide’ and not ‘high’ like me) ;)

and of course, if everyone is the same, then my whole idea above is totally unfounded :D LOL

Anyways, it wouldn’t be very hard to find a better ‘constant’ for the formular to make it much more accurate, by getting a thread together asking guys to just post their girth and width at the same point, to find the average ratio…

circumference = pi x diameter

I just did something really simple: the girth you report divided by pi. If you measured midshaft for girth, the calculated diameter would also be for midshaft.

I think sometime in the future I may just add a place to enter width. But then we’d have to come up with a way to standardize that too…

basically I am talking this; the penis (at least in me) is NOT a perfect cyliner. it is more like an oval cross sectioned.

So, if we could get the width and girth of a couple of guys then a ratio could be found to determine the average ‘ovalness’ of the oval… I left the exact formulas in my other pair of shorts, but it wouldn’t be hard to do, and then you wouldn’t have to hassle every participant with one more measurement, you could get it to a degree of accuracy automatically.

I am a little out of my league here, but I think the concept of diameter only applies to circles (cylinders). So the formula could be worked out, but as Secjay said, it would be a “cross section” calculation of an oval at its widest point. An example might be (again stealing from Secjay) you have a 6” circumfrence that is measured 2” across if you slap a ruler across the top of your meat perpendicular, but it measures only 1.5” from the cross sectional measurement of the top to the bottom of the penis (i.e. the ruler is slapped on the side of your johnson perpendicular).

I say the calculation should use 3 instead of pi. Therefore a 5.75” circumference would get you an implied 1.92” (about 1 7/8”)width.

Keep the ideas coming guys! I want to make this as accurate as reasonably possible.

I looked through all my maths and physics books for some help clueing in the right equation. To no avail, there appears to be no known formula to determine the ‘length’ (width) of an ellipse from the circumference…. not even in calculus! (at least not to the level that I learned at school) :)

(I’ll rephrase that last paragraph; it would be possible, on paper, but the measurements that would need to be taken in reality are practically impossible, in our case anyways)

But I have the idea that the ration between “height” and “width” of the ellipical circumference should be a fairly constant ration amongst guys, or at least loosely related….

So, to help determine the right numbers for the equation, could people start entering posts here with just simply their circumference and ‘width’ across the top in the same place as the girth was measured please?

Isn’t girth the same as circumference? Just a note, my penis is wider than it is high, although I don’t have exact measurments at hand… Is this the same in the majority of cases, or do some people have more height and less width?

To help answer your query, girth is taken to be the same as circumference.
I want people to tell their girth (circumference) and their WIDTH (across from your right to left or left to right, perpendicular to the length of your penis if that helps)

not the ‘height’ but the ‘width’.. oh actually, come to think of it, the heigth may come in useful too.. ok hehe

To set the record straight, the estimated width is also … estimated. Based on the volume of a cylinder, based on the reported girth and length measurements.

just from the info you guys have posted up til now (thanks btw) I see that already there is an enourmous difference in the ratio….
sorry to put a damper on the whole thing, but size, it looks like you’ll just have to put in a width measurement entry :)
