'Size Matters' references in society

Agreed. Having a preference is one thing but to routinely go on extremely lengthly, unsolicited diatribes about small dicks and the men that have them is another entirely.

Yeah, that’s the crux of the issue! It’s fine for women to have dick-size preferences, or preferences about eye color or skin tone or whatever, same as men have preferences about physical traits of women. And I can understand women talking frankly about those preferences in private in a way that could be offensive when men are around — just as the current thread at Thunder’s Place about strong-smelling pussy is the sort of thing we’d probably talk about in a more sensitive manner in mixed company.

What’s upsetting is when dick size is talked about, in public forums such as pop songs, as if it were something a guy is responsible for. I mean, yes, with PE, we can change our penis size to a modest degree, but for the most part, it’s just something that people are stuck with, much more so than, say, our body weights (and yet people are often sensitive to the fact that it wouldn’t be cool to write a whole song about how fat people suck!).

I realize that when a small-dick diatribe is coming from women, it’s probably sometimes a reaction against the constant societal judgment they feel about their bodies. (Of course, “putting men in their place” with dick-size insults in response isn’t going to help, and can even lead to pretty bad misogyny, judging by some threads on this forum.) In the cases when the dick-size innuendos come from men, as in many of the TV shows and advertisements and movies cited in this thread that were written by men, it’s probably about grabbing people’s attention by preying on insecurities, or maybe some people really just aren’t sensitive to the issue — to the fact that many guys have a penis self-perception problem that can be as emotionally crippling as women’s issues with fat.

In any case, yes, I think that our culture could be headed toward an epidemic of penis-size psychological problems among young men. The biggest contributor by far, I think, would be the epic exposure to pornography from an early age via the Internet; there must be innumerable 12-year-olds out there who think that their penis should grow to be as big as Mandingo’s (or at least the “average” porn star’s), or else something is wrong with them. The vast majority of them will be disappointed by what puberty brings them. Beyond Internet porn — and the enormous influx of penis-oriented spam emails trying to make men feel bad about their cocks — I think that the cultural crap documented in this thread is another potential contributor to widespread penis issues. I’m sure that men have had concerns about “measuring up” since time immemorial, but I think that their fears are going to become much harder to allay, the more this “size matters” cultural meme carries on.

8-Ball, I applaud you for trying to bring attention to this potential problem in our society. There may already be an epidemic of penis-size psychological issues, but it’s hard to know because it’s the sort of thing that people will stay especially silent about — who wants to admit to even a confidential source such as a therapist that he is obsessed with the size of his wiener? Who wants to be the one to express offense about some dumb joke or gag about small penises — with all this might imply about the person’s own equipment?

Lilly Allen is a lousy singer, she can’t sing for toffee, dumbass bitch.

And she’s no oil painting by any means.

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the darkness at Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain. Time to die." - Roy Batty (Blade Runner).

In the movie “The Godfather” there is a quick dick size reference. When one of the bridesmaids at the wedding sneaks upstairs for a quickie with Sonny Corleone, one of the other bridesmaids holds her hands far apart to indicate his size. The other bridesmaids blush and giggle.
I have not read the novel version, but I am told that the bridesmaid, Lucy Mancini, is the subject of a subplot centered on her inability to cum unless a man is hung like a horse. She eventually moves to Vegas, where she falls for a gynecological surgeon who operates on her so she can be satisfied by his dick.

I watch old movies as often as newer ones and since starting PE have become more attuned to size references. I suspect that if one were to come up with a systematic way of testing this , one would find that incidence size references has remained stable.

a guy is packing who has a decal like that on his pick up truck. Dont you agree that he is at least an above average guy hang wise or a guy on the prowl/make at least.

You’re right, although I think the type of context of the size references is a little different now maybe. The movie Raging Bull with Robert Deniro also has quite a few size references.

I think this stuff is often just meant to be “edgy”. It’s like “Hah! This movie/song/commercial/tv-show dared to talk about dick size! Aren’t we provocative and adult and insensitive/non-pc in an edgy way, without actually going into big scary things like politics and religion?” Same with Lily Allen. For all I know she might be a stone cold size queen, and/or she may have problems with her own insecurity, but the main point here I think is about being edgy. It’s the image she’s going for.

Yes, that is what really bothers me about it. You really articulated it well.

I also agree with you about the size anxiety epidemic we are going to see because of the easy access to internet porn. It is giving both young men and young women strange ideas about size. When I was growing up you really had to seek out pornography. And to make a huge generalization, I don’t think that many young women actively sought it out. Now it is almost impossible to avoid seeing porn.

Yep, you got it right. In Puzo’s version Sonny’s wife refuses to have sex with him because he’s too large and she finds it painful. Whereas Lucy is too large and can’t achieve satisfaction without a large penis. So she pines over Sonny even though she really didn’t care for him. The doc takes care of that with surgery.

I like telling girls that I only have two inches hard. When I pull it out her eyes bulge out like in freaks of cock.

Yeah, not only that, but the size standards in porn have gone way up, just as they have in bodybuilding. Most of the “huge” cocks in old porn wouldn’t stand out at all in today’s porn world.

Great thread idea. Great project.

I’ve only got two right now:

- The song Don't Want No Short-Dicked Man

- Mazda’s slogan "wider is better" - who were they kidding?

I’ll see if I can’t come up with more and post them as I think of them.

Before: I'd like to show you something I'm very proud of, but you'll have to move real close.

After: I\'d like to show you something I\'m very proud of, but you guys in the front row will have to stand back.

God gave men both a penis and a brain, but unfortunately not enough blood supply to run both at the same time. - Robin Williams (:

I forgot all about that Mazda ad, good find.

Paraphrased: It is not the critic who counts: The credit belongs to the man in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly, who errs and comes up short again and again, who, at the best, knows the triumph of high achievement, and who, at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat.
