Xeno, I too am stuck. I cannot think of a good question (or list of questions) to answer the following:
1. For hangers: Do short term gains after hanging a short time predict long-term gains?
2. Is LOT a predictor of length gains?
3. For hangers, which angle produces the greatest length gains?

Hopefully someone else will be able to provide some input.

Here is a section on injuries.

Injuries

1. Which of the following injuries have you experienced through exercising the penis?
__ Thrombosed vein
__ Spotting or blister(s) along the penis that lasted for more than a week
__ None
[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: These should be checkboxes. The following supplement sections should be presented according to what the participant checks off in response to this first question. If “None,” skip to next section]

2. When X occurred, approximately, how many weeks did you have to rest from PE? Or if you are currently resting, how many weeks ago did it happen? ___ weeks

3.What is the current status of X?
The injury is fully healed.
The injury is currently healing.
The injury healed, but periodically reappears.
The injury has not healed.
[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: Radio buttons: The first two answers should be coded as “1,” the third answer should be coded as “0,” and the third answer should be coded as “-1”.]

4. When X occurred where did you use a warm-up?
Yes
No
[Note to Programmer: Radio buttons: Yes should be coded as “1.” No should be coded as “0.”]

5. Where you using more intensity than normal prior to X?
Yes
No
[Note to Programmer: Radio buttons: Yes should be coded as “1.” No should be coded as “0.”]

Sounds good Rem.

Just out of curiosity, what do you think the likelihood is of being able to successfully extract WHEN gains were made? First question becomes: do you think guys know when they have gained? I’m thinking they do, but how that knowledge is retained is in highly variable “formats”, with, IMO, the most significant variability provided in the form of whether a practitioner has a good handle on when and how much time was spent in break. But there are other reasons why the precision to which guys can nail down when which gains were made and when other gains were made will be highly variable. So, the second question is: Can that highly variable formatted information be extracted in questionnaire format? I’m not sure. But I consider you and Para to be the architect and engineer of this thing…I get to be the bitchin’ and moanin’ client who always wants more :D .

I just don’t want any regrets, so I’m askin’ for the moon. I’m not sayin’ it’s achievable. Let me know what the design team thinks.

Oops. Just saw your last post. Let the old dawg run this up the belfry tower for a bit and see what falls out the other side.

I am post-whoring today, and for that I apologize. I find it easier to write everything as I think it, so something doesn’t become forgotten. I am creative and thoughtful by nature — and as you can tell, I have lots of thoughts.

More thoughts:

Although, at this time I don’t have the knowledge, or the capability to make this happen, I do know this is possible. It would have to be done via a graph, and would take a lot of coding. I wouldn’t even know how to analyze the project, but it would do tremendous information for our statistical knowledge.

I talked to the programmer, and I have more of an idea of the specfics you guys are asking for. We have basic questions, and we have basic exercise questions, now maybe we can add a few questions to each of the “basic exercise questions.”

For example, “do you jelq by applying pressure on the sides of your penis or the top and bottom of your penis?”

I will have more on this later.

Additional questions:

Plateaus – the PE mystery:

1. After how many weeks of active PE did your gains come to a halt for at least one month (meaning you did not gain any length or girth for at least one month) If your gains did not halt for at least one month, then enter “0”
_____ weeks
[i][NOTE TO PROGRAMER: If the user entered “0,” then skip the next question.]

2. When your gains came to a halt how was erection strength compared to your pre-PE erection strength?

__ When I hit a “plateau,” my erection strength was the same as it PRE PRE-PE.
__ My erection strength was stronger during the time I hit a “plateau,” than it was before PE.
__ My erection strength was weaker during the time I hit a “plateau,” than it was before PE.
[NOTE TO PROGRAMER: Radio buttons: The first option should be coded as “0”; the second option should be coded as “1”; and the last option should be coded as “-1”]

Some questions, and extra thoughts:

1. How do we plan on building data for the PE regimen? Using the total gains? It is going to take multiple analyses, but could you break this down for me? I am curious if we are going to need a question regarding “gains while using exercise X” in the PE regimen.
2. Trimming the questions – Do you think heat works for some exercises, and not others? We should probably do two general heat/warm up questions, saving time and work.
3.. On the side of the survey, in the corner or somewhere out of the way, I suggest having small graph listing quick conversion of months to weeks. Listing three months = 13 weeks. 6 months = 26 weeks. 9 months = 39 weeks, etc. This will bring more consistency to the results, and make it easier on the user to calculate their weeks.

A “re-update” on the list of questions we need answer to — I break down into 2 groups

1 - Can, and probably should be added
1. Something regarding Punctuated PE vs. Consistent PE.
2. What’s more important, time or intensity?
3. Which combination of exercises is most effective?
4. For hangers: Do short term gains after hanging a short time predict long-term gains?
5. Is LOT a predictor of length gains?
6. For hangers, which angle produces the greatest length gains?

2 - Unless someone speaks for the following questions now, they probably won\’t be added due to length of the survey and/or the broadness of the question
1. Does jelqing help BPEL catch up with BPFSL?
2. Does exercising the penis lead to changed “level of erection?” If yes, how noticeable was the change? Would the PEer do it all over again, knowing it changed his erection?
3. Is there a correlation between the men who are “hard gainers” in the gym and the men who are “hard gainers” in PE?
4. Prior to PE, some men are “growers” and some men are “showers” in the flaccid state. Which of these men make better length and or girth gains?
5. After doing PE for a for a period of time, some “growers” become “showers” in the flaccid state. Do these men make better length and or girth gains?

Current Agenda
So, basically, 6 more questions left. Then more detail on the “exercise questions.”
After that:
An in-depth edit the whole survey
Acquire multiple opinions on the survey draft
Edit the flowchart, and create the interdependency map.

Coming along nicely. Lets aim for finishing the whole rough draft of the survey by tomorrow night. I need a break. I am going to the gym, and then I have some work to do. I will be back later tonight.

Thanks for all the great work Remek. I hope to have time later tonight to read through everything and try to integrate the good stuff with the last full draft I put out. I’ll post another draft tonight if all works out.

Okay, I’m now ready to begin revising again. But before I begin, I’ll answer a few questions:

This is what statistical analysis is for. There will be many participants who did a lot of hanging, little manual stretching; lots of stretching, little hanging; lots of both; little of both; one or the other; etc. When hours spent on each are put into a regression as two predictors of the criterion variable (length gains), it will become clear how predictive each is of gains, controlling for the other. Plus analyses can be done that include only those participants who exclusively hung or who exclusively stretched…

Because of the extreme variation in the order in which guys try exercises, how long they try exercises, how much these exercises overlap, when they take breaks with various exercises, etc. etc., I think it’s nearly impossible to try to track many temporal issues in this survey. To see how exercises may work synergistically, we’ll have to rely on their predictive weights relative to total gains, which is admittedly a very flawed method. However, as I mention above, IF we can get enough participants, then we will have a sizeable number who employed one technique almost exclusively in their PE careers (i.e., dabbled in other exercises only trivially), which should enable far more focused analyses of the effects of that particular exercise. I, myself, for example, used hanging exclusively for the first year of my PEing (and so, were I to have taken this survey back then, I’d be useful in the way I’m describing)…

I’ve always been skeptical that heat does anything, myself, so I wouldn’t focus on it so much, but some others, such as the programmer, think it’s a very important topic of inquiry, so I do think we need to retain those questions, assumign taht some guys do wwarm up for any given exercise. The programmer has actually asked that I add a bit more detail about heat; you’ll see what I mean in the next revision.

Yeah, something along those lines may be helpful. The programmer can decide on this sort of thing what would work best.

I also want to address your last post:

3. Which combination of exercises is most effective?

4. For hangers: Do short term gains after hanging a short time predict long-term gains?

5. Is LOT a predictor of length gains?

6. For hangers, which angle produces the greatest length gains?

1. So far I haven’t seen ways to address this, beyond the current method of gauging the number of substantial breaks that the participant has taken from their PEing.

2. Yes, I already included this for the exercises where it seemed easy to objectively gauge intensity — hanging (weight) and pumping (pressure). I will include subjective quesitons about intensity for other exercises this time around, though these data will, of course, be a bit less reliable than the objective indicators.

3. This is the sort of thing that will require clever data analysis. The questions we have, I think, are sufficient to address the issue, if we analyze well. The big limitation will be our lack of knowledge about the timing & overlap of the various exercises constituting the participant’s regimen. I’m afraid that limitation is very hard to overcome.

4. I don’t really understand this question myself — how it could be addresssed in survey form. I think the best bet here may be to incorporate a simple subjective yes-or-no questions: “After hanging sessions, have you tended to notice a short-term increase in your length?” I’ve never noticed such a phenomenon myself. Is this what you’re trying to get at? We could do a simple comparison of whether those who notice such a phenomenon from hanging gain more, long-term, than those who don’t…

5. Yes. Very easy to implement. I’ll add that to the PE outcomes section (starting LOT, current LOT).

6. Yes, it will be tough to answer this sort of thing definitively, since hangers change angles all the time and we won’t really know when they made gains, so I think the best bet may be to include both objective and subjective questions — ask both what their dominant angle of hanging has been (if they have a dominant angle…), and which angle of hanging seemed to lead to the best gains. Using the first question — the more objecitve one — we should , I hope, be able to compare hangers who have used mostly BTC to those who have used mostly OTS, for example… Plus we can incorporate LOT into the analysis.

I don’t understand. The current survey draft probes changes in both quality and angle of erection. How is “level” different from angle or quality?

I agree with you on the other questions in this section not being necessary. But I do want to incorporate a simple subjective questions about flaccid gains into the next survey draft, since guys will be curious about whether any particular exercises seem to lead to better flaccid gains. I dont’ think objective quesions here are worthwhile, since it’s impossible to provide a very accurate measure of one’s flaccid penis size (at least for most guys).

Aren’t we doing in-depth editing right now? :)

I PMed some guys a day or two ago to ask for input on the drafts. I think most guys are too busy right now to contribute much.

Things are coming along pretty well, in my opinion. I’m glad we’re adding more details. I was getting tired of working on this thing, but it’d be a shame to let my laziness affect the quality of this survey, since it will take many months hereafter to begin collecting enough data to analyze, then many hours to do a lot of good analyses. A few days of less sleep is no big sacrifice for this thing.

Okay, for my own convenience, if nothing else, I want to paste below some other things from Remek’s and others’ posts that I want to try to incorporate in my revisions:

Okay, I’m back again and will finally begin working on this.

Remek & others, please note that the new draft will break down some of the existing sections into multiple sessions. The idea is that an impatient participant could fill out the basic beginning info about outcomes & regimen, and we’d still have useful data from them to analyze. The more patient participant will provide more detail in the later sections. The programmer suggested I do this.

Thank you for choosing to participate in the Thunder’s Place PE Survey!

Please try to answer the following questions as accurately as you can. If you have no idea about the answer to a given question — if, for example, you never took a starting girth measurement — please skip the question rather than guessing wildly. Use your best judgment about what degree of guessing would be appropriate (e.g., if you remember pumping for 6 to 8 consecutive weeks at one point, "7 weeks" would be a fine answer).

It is extremely important that you answer all questions truthfully. Even if you have lied about any of these matters in your posts at Thunder’s Place, please be honest in this survey. Your individual data will not be connected to your username in the analysis process.

[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: If it's not too much hassle, you might consider including a preliminary question about whether the participant wants to take the survey using the English measurement system (inches, pounds) or the metric system the rest of the world uses (cm, kg). If this is done, answers in cm will have to be converted automatically (into the data spreadsheet) to inches. (I plan to do analyses in English measurements, since most members here use them.)]

Section I: Basic PE Outcomes

If you never took a particular measurement, please skip the relevant question.

1. What was your bone-pressed erect length before beginning any PE? ____ inches

2. What was your erect girth (circumference, not width!), measured at midshaft, before beginning any PE? ____ inches

3. What was your erect girth, measured at your thickest point, before beginning any PE? ____ inches

4. What is your current bone-pressed erect length? ____ inches

5. What is your current erect girth, measured at midshaft? ____ inches

6. What is your current erect girth, measured at your thickest point? ____ inches

7. How has your erection quality been affected by PEing? Please note that quality is not the same as angle. A man can have rock-hard, throbbing erections that point straight down (i.e., high quality, low angle), or, conversely, soft erections that point upwards (low quality, high angle).

__ Erection quality has gotten worse from PEing.

__ Erection quality has not been affected by PEing.

__ Erection quality has improved from PEing.

[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: These should be radio buttons. The first option should be entered into the spreadsheet as "-1", the second as "0", and the third as "1".]

8. How much, if at all, has your flaccid size changed from PEing? Please do not consider "temporary" flaccid gains (e.g., a post-jelqing pump) when answering this question.

__ My flaccid size is the same as or smaller than it was before PEing.

__ My flaccid size is bit larger from PEing: occasionally, my penis hangs longer and/or heavier than it did before PE.

__ My flaccid size is significant larger from PEing: most of the time, my penis hangs longer and/or heavier than it did before PE.

__ My flaccid size is much larger from PEing: it almost always or always hangs substantially longer and/or heavier than it did before PE.

[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: Radio buttons. Code the first answer as 0, the second as 1, the third as 2, and the fourth as 3.]

Section II: Your Basic PE Regimen

4. Which of the following exercises have been substantial components of your PE career? Please check all the apply. (An exercise can be considered a "substantial" part of your PE regimen if you have ever used it at least twice a week for at least two consecutive weeks.)

__ Jelqing

__ Manual Stretching

__ Manual Girth Squeezes (Horses, Uli’s, Jelq Squeezes, etc.)

Change in length: ___ inches

Change in girth: ___ inches

4. What was your LOT before beginning any PE? Please skip this question if you did not measure your LOT before beginning PE.

[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: Drop-down menu of choices in 30-minute intervals: 12:00, 11:30, 11:00…6:00. Code these choices as 13, 12, 11…1.)

[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: If the participant answers question 4, then he should be presented with question 5. Otherwise skip to #6.)

5. What is your current LOT? If you are not sure, please check for it now.

[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: Drop-down menu of choices in 30-minute intervals: 12:00, 11:30, 11:00…6:00. Code these choices as 13, 12, 11…1.)

6. How has your erection angle been affected by PEing? Please remember the aforementioned distinction between erection quality and erection angle.

__ PEing has lowered my erection angle

__ PE hasn’t affected my erection angle

__ PEing has raised my erection angle

[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: Radio buttons. The first option should be entered into the spreadsheet as "-1", the second as "0", and the third as "1".]

7. Before beginning any PE, did your erection have a noticeable curve (in any direction)?

__ Yes, my pre-PE penis had some curvature.

__ No, my pre-PE penis was straight.

[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: Radio buttons. "Yes" should be coded as "1", "No" as "0". The following question, #8, will depend upon the participant's answer to this question.]

IF YES TO #7:

8. How has the shape of your erection been affected by PEing?

__ PEing has increased the curvature of my penis, that is, it has exaggerated the pre-existing curve or added a new curve.

__ PEing hasn’t affected my penis’s shape.

__ PEing has straightened my penis to some degree (i.e., decreased the curvature).

[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: Radio buttons. The first option should be coded as "-1", the second as "0", and the third as "1".]

IF NO TO #7:

8. How has the shape of your erection been affected by PEing?

__ PEing has added some noticeable curvature to my penis.

__ PEing hasn’t affected my penis’s shape; it is still straight.

[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: Radio buttons. The first option should be coded as "-1", the second as "0".]

9. Has PEing darkened or otherwise changed the color of your penis to a noticeable degree?

__ No, my penis’s color has not been affected by PEing.

[NOTE TO PROGRAMMER: Radio buttons. The first option should be coded as "1", the second as "0".]

10. This is a question about PE "plateaus." After beginning to achieve PE gains (if you have achieved any), have you ever experienced a period of at least 6 weeks of continuous PEing during which you achieved no gains? If so, after how many consecutive weeks of active PEing did this "plateau" begin? Sorry, I guess I should have offered a proposed question too. How about: “Of the time between when you started PE (at your pre-PE size) and now (at your current size), what percentage has been spent in break?”

Note that in order to not skew the data, it will be important to differentiate between active PE practitioners who are on break at the time of their response and those practitioners that are in retirement at the time of their response.

Is this what you’re trying to get at? We could do a simple comparison of whether those who notice such a phenomenon from hanging gain more, long-term, than those who don’t…

We need to define “short” and “long”. I understood this question to be asking whether the rate of gains observed in oh, say the first month, was representative of the rate observed oh, say 6 months later. I think both Para’s and my interpretations of what this question is asking are good questions, but we need to define terms so all responders will understand the same meaning. FWIW, I, like Para, have never observed a post-hanging increase.

Using the first question — the more objecitve one — we should , I hope, be able to compare hangers who have used mostly BTC to those who have used mostly OTS, for example… Plus we can incorporate LOT into the analysis.

Sounds great to me.
