Penis Shaming: Let's Stop It Aye

I was talking to my wife the other day about penis shaming and likening it to fat shaming. I was arguing it is not socially acceptable to fat shame, but it seems ok to penis shame.

Her response, which easily won the argument, was that women had collectively decided they don’t want to stand for fat shaming anymore. But us men seem perfectly happy to wallow in our insecurity and not do anything about the shaming in general.

I don’t have any real answers but I think it’s something that needs some focus so hopefully putting our combined heads together at TP will help get a plan going.

As a start how about:

1. Do not participate in penis shaming.
E.g. a massive raised SUV cuts you up, resist the urge to say he’s just compensating for having a small dick.

2. If someone penis shames someone in your presence, call them up on it. Understand that because it is so culturally acceptable to penis shame that they may not understand what’s going on.
E.g. “Look, I’m not having a go but it’s not cool to take the mick out of someone’s cock. You wouldn’t laugh at a girl being fat would you?”. Can even say there’s far more someone can do about their weight than the size of their cock.

3. Resist being penis shamed yourself.
E.g. a girl mocks your size, “eh, leave my dick out of this missy”, “there’s nothing wrong with my dick, what’s this really about?”

4. Do not penis shame yourself. Often this is a far bigger issue in our own heads than it is to anyone else. Do not let these fears prevent you from getting with someone, going skinny dipping as a group, getting changed in changing rooms etc.
Remember that 90% is in our own heads and if we follow points 1-3 above, the 10% that represents other people will give us no grief either.

We punish ourselves far too much and at the end of the day we allow it. Let’s put a stop to it aye.

Maybe, although I don’t see that changing the need to stop it. Yeah, fat shaming does affect both genders.

Great topic. Personally, I try to not judge a person for things outside of their control. Natural penis size, height, race, gender, age, where you were born, who your family members are; these are all examples of things that for the most part just happened and are not really indicative of who a person is. Instead I try to focus on the choices that the person makes. I also try to keep in mind that the same choices made by different people from different circumstances mean different things. And, of course, how fat someone is depends on both a person’s genetics and their lifestyle choices; this is an example showing that not everything fits neatly into just one category.

Keep growing your cock, it can be done.

This is an excellent topic as penis shaming can have quite profound and severe effects. At the age of 5 I was severely shamed by my Father for playing with myself when discovered doing so at bedtime in the privacy of my own room. I was so traumatized that I never touched myself again until the age of 18. Anything to do with my genitalia was associated with shame and humiliation. I was mortified when having to use public urinals. I would never use public showers and when having to change into a swimsuit in a men’s locker room I would carefully choose a spot where I could face the wall to remain unseen. In short, I was suffering from Penile Dysmorphic Disorder and also Body Dysmorphic Disorder in general as I was also body shamed for being a chubby child. As I matured and started to date I was very conscious about what my girlfriends thought of my equipment and was absolutely crushed by any negative feedback. (It is unfortunate that many people in a relationship will have no complaints at all when things are going well but, upon a break-up, cannot resist the urge to take a less than factual and vicious parting shot.) All things considered, I was convinced that I was sub-standard with regards to my equipment and, definitely, on the small side.

I have always suffered from a mild form of depression and when this became severe a few years back I started seeing professionals for help and have continued to do so. However, my sexuality was never explored until very recently, at the age of 63, and I finally unloaded all this baggage. It was as if a huge weight had been lifted and I began to educate myself. I discovered that far from being small I am actually on the larger side of average. (The most recent clinical studies were most helpful in this regard.) My self-confidence has increased, I have been losing more weight and my libido is very much improved. My wife and I are experiencing more pleasure in our intimacy. I also started researching PE as I have hypertension and prostate issues resulting in intermittent ED. My erections have not been to maximum tumescence and rigidity for a while unless I use a C-Ring. I started a Bath-mate program just over a week ago, along with some Kegels, mild jelqing, stretching and edging. It appears I may have already made some gains but I think it best to hold back on reporting until they appear to be permanent. This site is wonderfully supportive and informative.
