Penimaster Superglue Repair -- Help needed...

My basic ring broke and I want to repair it with superglue, but I don’t know what type I should get.

Which type of superglue should I get?

Has this type of repair been attempted before?

Please help

I’m not sure any glue is going to be able to do the job. Perhaps you should start searching for a replacement ring.

I’m sure there’s got to be a glue that works— they use adhesives to stick airplanes together.

I’m hoping someone on the forums will know about these things.

I can’t get a replacement from the manufacturers— they say the penimaster has been through a complete re-design and so I’d need to buy a complete new unit (my garantee arrived without a dealers stamp so I’ve been unable to present it to them).

The stupid thing is they’ve already replaced one (becuase it had a bad spring) but the replacement was packaged so badly the ring got cracked in the post and now it’s broken (it broke while I was putting it on).

Right now I’m using the original ring, but that ones developing cracks as well.

Rubber bands might just work, but if I could get the name of a type of glue that would do the job from someone on the forum it’d be pretty cool.

I’m guessing other forum users are going to start getting cracks in their basic rings also, so it might be good to establish how to go about reparing them.

I’m probably going to p**s the people at Penimaster off by posting this thread but what can I do?

It was a replacement for my original ring which had a bad spring and bad thread, but it arrived with fractures. It was okay for a few months but then it just broke apart while I was attaching the support surface.

If it arrived with fractures you shouldve sent it straight back…

Current PE status - Contemplating Retirement. STARTED - 6.75"x5.25" CURRENTLY 7.5"x5.5" - BPFSL - 7.25"

How to use the search button for best results. If you actually USE the search button, this is worth a read

I didn’t feel I could. I kind of felt like they were doing me a favour by replacing it because I didn’t have a dealer’s stamp. Also- the fractures didn’t look so bad.

I’m going to buy some superglue and see if it’ll do the job.

I guess the moral of the story is: If you’re going to buy a Penimaster, make sure you buy it direct from the manufacturer and that the paperwork is in order, otherwise you best have a good epoxy resin handy when the cracks start developing in your basic ring.

On a more general note: I guess it’s best to buy a good epoxy anyway, so that you don’t have to hassle the people at Penimaster when it breaks (although having said that, they may refuse to replace it if a repair has been attempted)

I’m going to pick up an epoxy and try my hand at repairing the broken ring— I’ll also coat the surface of my remaining basic ring (the one with the fractures) and see how that works out (although I don’t recommend you do this if you have a valid warrenty as it might count as a ‘modification’ and invalidate the warrenty.

I’ll report back when I’ve got some results to share.

Beaver Eager epoxy is exactly what I would use.Be very careful when applying it that you get it good and smooth,as it will get extremely hard.So make sure there are not any ridges or anything in it before it dries,so you don’t cut your winky.

Why don’t try just to speak with the PM team per e-mail or telephone. Maybe they would replace it, who knows!

They did!!! I’m amazed!!! The postman handed it to me today!

I must have mis-read their email - I thought they meant I’d have to buy a new one, but it seems they meant they’d have to send me a new one! (unfortunately I’ve deleted most of my email preparing for an OS re-boot so I can’t review the email sent to me, but I guess I must have mis-read it)

I don’t want to go into too much detail because I’m worried people might take advantage of their excellent service, but I have to say hats off to MSP Concept— I’ve never experienced service this good, ever…

…buy from MSP Concept and you’re in safe hands.

I am so pleased.

I was planning on being very cautious (I also wouldn’t want to end up going to my doctor with a Penimaster stuck to my crotch :p )

Okay, so I got my replacement from MSP, but I’d already ordered the epoxy, so I took a shot at repairing my broken equipment.

Apart from the replacement I’ve got two basic rings, one that was developing fractures and one that had the ‘arch’ of the hinge totally broken off.

I also had a broken support surface.

I opened the epoxy and mixed it, not really knowing the correct way to apply it.

I started with the ring with the broken hinge, just as a sort of test so that I could get used to using the epoxy. I used a very very liberal application, hoping to bond and coat it at the same time (with benefit of hindsight I think a better way would have been to use it sparingly, wait until it became tacky before applying it and waiting for it to set before coating the hinge)…

…but I jumped straight in with both feet it slapped the stuff on like it was going out of style.

Due to the nature of the repair I couldn’t re-attach and coat the arch without getting the drips (I’m going to have to buy a file to file down the hardened drips (this stuff sets like stone))

Here’s the Pic (and believe it or not this is a positive result)…

Next I tried my hand at repairing the support surface.

It seemed to have some kind of distortion in the plastic that prevented it from lining up correctly.

But I attached it and coated it as best I could as more practise before attempting to coat the fracturing faulty ring I keep as a spare.

(I don’t recommend doing this as a matter of course as the stresses may be re-distributed in ways that might cause breakages)

…but mine was broken anyway, and I needed the practice, so I went for it.

Here’s the pic…
